~ CHRISTMAS SONGS AND FINGERPLAYS~

Reindeer Pokey- Submitted by Sherry
(Sung to "The Hokey Pokey")

You put your antlers in. You put your antlers out.
You put you antlers in and you shake them all about.
You do the Reindeer Pokey
and you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!
You put your hooves in....
You put your red nose in....
You put your fluffy tail in...
You put your reindeer body in.

Christmas Poem Fingerplay- Submitted by Lisa in VA

This is the wreath that we hang on the door
(Use arms to make circle)
This is the fir tree that stands on the floor
(Put arms at your side to make fir tree)
This is the snow that covers the town
(Make the fingers of both hands come down like snow)
This is the chimney that Santa comes down
(One hand makes a hole, the other hand with
index finger comes over and pops in the hole)
This is the mantle from which stockings are hung
(One arm is mantle, the other arm drapes over it)
This is the book from which carols are sung
(Both hands make an open book)
And this is the box, in which there is hid
(Crouch down and make a box shape)
A jack-in-the-box when you open the lid.
(Everyone jumps up)

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer- Submitted by Christi
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose,
And if you ever saw it,
You could even say it glows.
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names;
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say:
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,
You'll go down in history."

Christmas Song- Submitted by Christi
(sung to I'm A Little Teapot)

I'm a little snowman round and fat
Here is my scarf and here is my hat
When Christmas comes around just hear me shout
Here comes Santa you better watch out!

I'm a little lightbulb round and bright
Here is my twinkle oh what a sight
When Christmas comes around just plug me in
And watch me blink again and again

I'm a little Christmas tree, short and green,
Here are my branches, the cutest you've seen,
When I get all decorated hear me cheer,
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Smells like Christmas,
Smells like Christmas
Sniff, sniff, sniff,

I can smell the Christmas tree,
I can smell the turkey,
Sniff, sniff, sniff,
sniff, sniff, sniff.

Tastes like Christmas,
Tastes like Christmas,
Crunch, crunch, crunch
Crunch, crunch, crunch.

I can taste the cookies,
I can tastes the popcorn.
Crunch, crunch, crunch
Crunch, crunch, crunch.

Sounds like Christmas,
Sounds like Christmas,
Ding, ding, dong
Ding, ding, dong

I can hear the singing,
I can hear the ringing.
Ding, ding dong.
Ding, ding, dong.

Looks like Christmas,
Looks like Christmas
Blink, blink, blink
Blink, blink, blink.

I can see the lights.
They're such a pretty sight.
Blink, blink, blink
Blink, blink, blink

Feels like Christmas,
Feels like Christmas.
Hug, hug, hug,

I can feel the friendship.
I can feel the love.
Hug, hug, hug,
