Bass Strike is the first fishing game out to PlayStation 2 in europe/us. The genere is a bass fishing arcade style game. Before you are alowed to go out on the lake you first have to type in your name and select your skill level - amature or pro.

Main Menu

Here you select the type of game you want to play or you can view lake records and modify the game options: sound, music, controling and so on.

Like in most fishing game this game also have more wayes of fishing. The modes are:
  • Arcade
  • Tournament
  • Time Trial
  • Practice

Because of the arcade style the game focus on the selection of lure and rig - no line, rod or reel selection are included. There are 29 lures and 6 rigs to select from in your hunt for the great lunkers

    Tournament

Today I wanted to play the tournament. You know what a tournament is right? Each round is for 2 days, you must waith in 5 fish over 12inc and the winner is the one with the bigges fish at the end of the round. If you don't get back for the weigth-in in time you will lose some point, and if your are more then 15 minnuts to late you are out.

It was a rainy day in october and I was sitting in my boat at 6.30 am ready to start. I was placing my crank just behind the dock and after a few reel-in a bass hit the lure. I was not quite ready so my fumbling with the controler resulted in a lost fish.

A nother cast and a nother lost bass - I was just not that keen today. so I started the motor and in high speed I raced down the river looking for a good spot. I tock a hold but the fish did no show any interes of lure. Started the motor and when on to a new place. I found some stripers hideing but they was not interested neather.
You don't have any fish finder because you don't need any - with the split screen you are able to se whats in the wather under the boat!

    The Arcade

PAI has added a new twist to the good old arcade mode. Now you are compeeting against a nother angler. If you beet him or here you win the charictor so you can use it on your next trip.

    The Manual

In the manual you will find a list of all the lures in the game. Read the notes about them and you will be able to select the right lure for the conditions.

    Over-all

Bass Strike is a nice try for a good fishing game to the ps2. The graphic is good If you have played fishing games on the pc like Trophy Bass 4 or Flw Bass Torunament you migth find the lakes in Bass Strike to be small. Other fishing games distributed by THQ
