!New! Submitted Ramp Pictures !New!
Warning: These are my own personal ramp plans and are not supported by any professionals, engineers or company. It's just how I built my miniramp. Now skateboarding is dangerous and so are powertools so be careful. I cannot be held responsible for any injuries, deaths or rollerblading caused by you building a ramp! If you have any questions or doubts about my process of building you can just go and spend the $20 on some real blueprints. THESE PLANS ARE FREE!

!!!BEFORE YOU BUILD ANYTHING!!!
First I must ask you if you have ever built any kind of ramp before.....If you haven't I would definately check out some of my Links to other sites where I myself have gotten tons of information on how to build ramps. Next I must show you how the ramp actually goes together in several sections for easy (or easier) transportation. To check this out go to my Ramp Overview page. Lastly I would highly recommend drawing up your own plans so you know where every board goes before you put your ramp together. If you still don't know what the hell you are doing PLEASE talk to someone that does!!! Doing this will make your ramp go together a lot faster and easier. I drew up pages of plans that really gave me a good understanding of how I would put it together. I made a lot of adjustments to the ramp (like building it in several sections, bolting them together etc.) and now it is exactly how I want it. Oh.....one last thing.......GOOD LUCK! |

RAMP OVERVIEW THE STRING COMPASS METHOD DIFFERENT TRANSITIONS BUILDING THE STRUCTURE FLATBOTTOM PLATFORMS COPING SKATE SURFACE THE FINISHED PRODUCT THE "NEW" RAMP |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The First Step you will need to do in building you ramp is to make sidepieces that will form the curve of the ramp. To do this you must draw a 1/4 circle (hence the term "quarterpipe") onto a 3/4" sheet of plywood. I drew the 1/4 circle by using "The String Compass Method" and it worked very well. It is basicly like a big compass (and not the kind to guide you overseas)...the kind you use in geometry to draw circles. To use the string compass method you must find out how steep you want your transitions. I used a 6 1/2' string to draw my transitions. Basicly the longer the string you use, the shallower the transitions. If you use a shorter string your ramp will be steeper. For examples of Different Transitions Click Here. Now that you have drawn the 1/4 circle onto one piece of 3/4" plywood you can now cut this ONE sidepiece out. Do a very good job cutting out this first sidepiece...you will later use it to copy this perfectly smooth transition onto the other sheets of 3/4" plywood for the rest of the sidepieces. |

SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND: When you are drawing the circle onto the sheet of 3/4" plywood you will need to keep the string tight and start drawing from the bottom. This will line your transition up with the ground or flatbottom. If you are like me you will be making a 2x4 structure or "Flatbottom" in between each side of the ramp. KEEP IN MIND that if you are going to build a flatbottom section you will need to account for this in your sidepieces. Basicly you will need to start the bottom of your curve 3 1/2" up off the groung (SINCE 2x4's ARE ACTUALLY 1 1/2" by 3 1/2" THESE DAYS) Now if you are just making a quarterpipe you will not need to do this because you will want the ramp to be flush with the ground. |
