France Telecom is the only company offering fixed telephone lines in France. They also offer internet services (although they are not the only company). There is both dial up and high speed internet available. The prices of the phone lines depends on the amount of communication you do. Local calls are not included here as they are in North America. Also, the price of the internet connection differs depending on the bandwidth (speed) you choose.
