HORSE PAINTING MORAL SUPPORT

This is a letter I sent to a friend about his army painting project for HotT:

OK so twice now on seperate occaisions you have lamented your choice of HotT army because of the horses. But, in defense of horses in the game (even though you may be painting them for the rest of your life!) they offer unsurpassed mobility (especially riders) and significant shock value (especially knights.) There are element types out there that offer more punch, or faster movement, but either cost more AP to field or more PIPs to move. Historically, mounted troops changed the face of warfare so much that, until the development of aircraft, they remained the elite strike force in armies worldwide. And should you be inclined to "cheat" in your painting, I would suggest the Krylon Ruddy Brown Primer, then inkwash with THIN ink, and then just paint the furniture and base them (I was doing this with 40K Gretchin a few years back... worked pretty good, too!) By choosing the Medieval period (although Normans are Late Dark Ages/ Early Medieval) you have chosen the height of mounted warfare. So embrace yor horse-painting, and may your shield never give and your lance never break!
