SIBERIAN NOMADS
This list is based on the "Generic Horse Nomad" list in the rulebook. I had some some Skythian models for a DBA army I never completed in a former life, and so I figured to re-tool them for HotT. And then I saw the Wooly Mammoth option and I had to take it. And so the Siberan Horse Nomads were born. For all intents and purposes, the Siberian Nomads are the Generic Horse Nomads with key elements rearranged between the list and the alternatives. Stronghold: tent encapment with Mammoth Tusk gateway.
Knight General (Tribal Nobles) @ 2AP | ... | 1 |
Riders (Horse Archers) @ 2AP | ... | 9 |
Behemoth (Wooly Mammoth) @ 4AP | ... | 1 |
Alternatives: Rider General (Tribal Nobles with bows) @ 2AP, Behemoth (more Wooly Mammoths) @ 4AP, Hero General @ 4AP, Magician (Shaman) @ 4AP.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
This army is an outgrowth of a DBA army I had purchased. My Skythians arrived in the mail a few weeks before I moved to Las Vegas. They languished in a box for five years until a buddy got interested in HotT. After reading through my rulebook, I realized I finally had my chance for a pure Light Horse/Elephant DBA army. Or Rider/Behemoth army, as the case becomes in HotT. So, with the addition of a few Wooly Mammoth toys left over from a bag of cheap plastic dinosaurs, the army is ready to go thundering across the tundra to conquer northern Europe.
STATUS
This army is completely painted, all optional elements are done, and I have a very cute scratch-built Nomad camp as a Stronghold. This is the success story of my army completion.
BATTLES
29APR2001: I got my ass handed to me in this one against a Generic Medieval army. I caused no casualties. My General got recoiled ont by my Wooly Mammoth. Horsemen died against knights by the droves. That damn bad going smack dab in the middle of the table forced my battle line into seperate groups. Although I think my initial plan was a good one. Did I mention that the dice gods were not fickle, they actually hated me? It seems that I rolled more "1's" than every other result combined...
