NEO-SOVIETS
Neo-Soviets are a kind of post-modern radioactively toxic loser society. They use a lot of genetic manipulation to create new abominations, and use their irradiated population as cannon fodder. The officers lead through a combination of pure determination and terror. Not a nice place to fight for, most assuredly.

My Kommander was built from a "Heavy Gear" mecha model and some GW and Vor bits I had laying about. The first Officer is straight from the package, the second is a hammer and sickle conversion from a GW Commissar.

My Rad Troopers were done straight up, my Vanguard were built from GW Valahallans and Delaques. The trenchcoat effect was the important thing here. I absolutuely hated the Vanguard figures FASA was producing for Vor. This is where I first started finding my unifying themes for the army: the flesh tone would go on everyone, from the Kommander to the mutants, and every trench-style garment would have this black and grey vintage WWII camoflage pattern. That same pattern also showed up on my Officers above. The power-armored Spetsnatz also determined the future of all the heavy armor in the force, from the Kommander to the vehicles.

The Cyclops and the Bio-Freaks both served as terror troops. My favorite tactic was to pile the Bio-Freaks into the Avalanche (see below) and then disgorge them right into the enemy battle line. The Cyclops promised so much destruction if it closed that it never once madde it inot any sort of range to accomplish anything.

The mutants were all done with the same basic paint scheme. The "official" models were done straight from the box, and the Predator I converted from an old Warzone figure. My experience was that all of these guys were great at tying up the enemy in close combat, but lousy at actually causing casualties.

I managed to procure some WWII Soviet decals for my vehicles. The Avalanche was obviously built from a GW Chimera, the two Crawlers were from 'Matchbox' tanks, the turret of one eventually became my Union ADT Drone. All of these vehicles, especially the Ursa, caused more than their fair share of excitement in the games. Although I never once managed to get my Ursa close enough to anything to use the Chem-sprayer...
