| Thats right! you guessed it! Its another episode of HOTLICKS!!! No more bullshit from me. Lets get right to it. ITS PENTALICIOUS (LICK NUMBER 5!!!) THE DOWNEDCHOPPER LICK Or at least thats what came to mind when I made it up. Lots of alternate picking here to make the chopper blade go crazy. ok here are the notes. EFEDCDEFEDCD(repeat this pattern for good meaure followed by ->) EFEDCBAG#FEDCBAG#. ok now to place the notes on the strings. The first pattern EFED is played on the G string and the C note is played on the D string. Subsequently, the notes descend from CBAG# (on the D string, slide from A to G#). Then on the A string the notes are FED, and on the low E string, CBAG# followed by a vibrato on that last G# note. Just a few things to note. Alternate picking is a bitch to execute properly. So do it real slow, especially when you have to switch strings. When your mind knows what your fingers are doing, thats when you can speed things up. Listen for the speed increase in the lick. As you will notice, i started the lick slow then sped it up as i got to the end. Control is when you can speed it up and slow it down at will while achieve note precision. Ok i'm sounding like a fanatic now. but really thats what it is in guitar playing. You must be in control of the guitar. Not the other way around. Here's the lick ------------> |
| SIX the number of MAN (Lick 6!!!) THE KILLACOPTERBLADE LICK Yeah, i know i'm getting into this whole helicopter sounding lick phase. But what the hell, i like it, so bite me. Again, alternate picking is the name of the game here. And as you can also tell, i love that big vibrato sound at the end as well. So dadadeedado, here is the lick details once again. I started the lick on the G note on the G string (thats pretty high up on the register... bout the 12th fret) ok it goes GAA#BDEAEGEDEAEGEDE (notice a pattern AEGEDE repeat this faster and faster) and then end on a bend that takes place on the A note (to the B note) on the high E string. It helps to understand how a helicopter works... ie. the rotor blades always start off slow then pick up speed. If you know of a helicopter that starts off fast, pray tell and end my ignorance. Here's the lick ------------> |
