| Hi yall, this is a diversion from my usual madness. Apart from being a little abnormal, I am actually not stupid and I know how the economy works and what needs to be done to save the country from poverty. If you have put up with all my insanity on the webpage, then this shouldnt be too difficult to follow. OK disclaimer first. I AM NO SUPPORTER OF ANY PARTICULAR POLITICIAN. So please dont give me grief. All I want to tell you is that whoever you choose to support, think about what I am explaining, and hopefully you will find what I am saying to be sensible, and lobby your politician to use the idea. JOB CREATION Every politician says they will create jobs if they are elected/re-elected. Have you heard what they actually said about how they're going to do it? NOTHING. This is what needs to be done : DISCOURAGE IMPORTS Why? You ask. Simple. If you stop people from buying foreign made goods, how are those needs going to be satisfied? People will then have to buy from national producers. Who do national producers hire when they produce nationally? Citizens of the country! BINGO! Thats your job there! Manufacturing brings the most jobs because like any industry, it needs workers, lower middle and upper management and in greater numbers. But what about competition? How will manufacturers compete against cheaper foreign labor? Well, if you ban imports that cuts out the competition. Also if you ban companies from bringing in foreign labor, then they would have to hire citizens. But these goods will become expensive? Initially they may be expensive but more and more people will jump in the bandwagon to make money from selling to citizens since there is a shortage of supply. The more national producers there are, the more internal competition (competition between national suppliers), this will bring prices down. But our labor cost is expensive? When you have so much unemployment, employers can negotiate with employees to bring down wages so that the employers can reduce its labor cost burden and stay in business so as to keep providing jobs. But wouldnt that be exploitation of our workers? When you have lots of factories, they will need lots of workers. Whoever pays better will get the workers. People are free to choose who they want to work for. If one place pays lousy, their workers will leave when another factory offers better wages. The same applies to benefits for workers provided by factories. This will eliminate the need for unions because when people can choose who to work for, whichever company pays better or provides better benefits will get the workers. Those that give substandard benefits/wages wont get their workers. Unions are not part of a free society, if you dont like the workplace, quit and go to another. Bear in mind that in the short term, just like any new implementation, there will be teething problems. Shortages of goods and services that we are so used to getting from overseas. But given the speed of businesses, this will be quickly resolved. NATIONAL HEALTH CARE Instead of pouring billions of dollars overseas to continually help countries overseas, this country needs to focus on its own first. Question number 1 : Are our citizens getting enough health care? Citizens of the country should be entitled to free medical treatment. The government needs to set up government hospitals which provide free medicine and health care. The richer citizens can go to private hospitals. EDUCATION Same view as national health care. Education should be provided free. All that is needed is for the citizen to pass the qualifying examination for entrance to education institutions. The richer citizens can go to private schools. If your politician can do these things, you will find society improving. In an impoverished society, crime is rampant. That is not to say that an affluent society has no crime. There will always be crime. An society mired in poverty just makes it worse. FEED YOUR PEOPLE, CLOTHE THEM, NURSE THEM, AND EDUCATE THEM With more national producers, more citizens with jobs, it is inevitable that the contribution to national taxes will increase. This will provide the government with funding to hire more workers for education services, health care services, and lastly law enforcement. LAW ENFORCEMENT With more funding in law enforcement, the government is then able to audit each law enforcement agency of its effectiveness and response time. Also, it is able to place law enforcement teams in more places so that the response time to crime is shorter. Eventually when the efficiency and speed of law enforcement teams improves to a very good level, citizens will have no need to arm themselves, thus reducing the number of fatalities. I can understand people wanting guns to defend themselves because they feel that the government is unable to protect them. However, should the government reach a level of efficiency and speed of law enforcement, then there is no excuse for wanting guns. The "self-protection" reason would be more like having a weapon to give oneself an added advantage in a fight. With efficient law enforcement, the fight would be nipped in the bud. Whatever happened to good old fashioned fist fights??? NATIONAL SECURITY As far as national security is concerned, spending billions of dollars to run another country is definitely a stupid idea. Running another country and reducing their threat to our country are 2 separate matters. We dont need to run another country. If their leaders are belligerent and are building up arms to fight us, it makes sense to disarm them. However it should stop there. Let them re-elect another government. If it turns out to be another government wanting to fight us, then another disarmament is necessary. Staying in their country makes us an occupier, and being an occupier, you are obligated to run their country. This means resources going to them, not us.
