SHINE the Musical

SHINE the musical is my school's production together with a company named D'rama. The musical consisted of not only acting but also dancing and singing. 20 of us as the cast members had been gone through the tough, strict yet so fun rehearsals ever since the beginning of the year 2002. The performance was put up on mid-July 2002 which was a BANG! In the end of the musical, we not only achieved the success on putting a great performance but also we created a new bond with each others; this musical had changed us, believe it or not. And here, I'd like to tell you more about SHINE as I'm so proud of it and am grateful to be part of it.

INTRODUCTION The story of SHINE is adapted from a famous musical called 'FAME'. It's about a life in            GOODENOUGH ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS which involves the relationships among the students   as well as their relationship with the trainers. It begins with an audition where 5 starstruck young people together with 13 others get into the Academy. Siti is a plain, self-conscious girl who has a passionate and talent but low self esteem. Julia is a snooty and glamour seeking, she's kinda 'bitchy' in a way and only think about herself. Jonathan is a funny, classclown type fellow. Azman is a down the earth young man who is very passionate about performing arts yet has to struggle with a lot of problems. Finally, Steve is a good looking but spoilt and egoistic teen, he believed that nothing is impossible for him. These students are trained under 2 stern yet passionate trainers. Dean Edward is the Dean of the school as well as the acting coach who's just like a father to his students, while Ms.Vivian is the dance trainer who's strict, dramatic yet care so much about her students.                       As the story continues, we'll see how each of the characters faced problems and how they deal with it. It's a heartwarming story which full of good laugh and a happy ending. A nice story for a school performance.
