The RHS Purple Rose Gang Outings - 2005

Hello out there all of my fellow purple rose gang friends..... bet you thought i forgot my duties in reporting our outings as part of our history? well i didn't exactly forget, i just got very sidetracked! let's look back a bit. in january 2005 we celebrated our ladies birthday's of the month by getting together and having a pj-brunch. it was a bright january saturday as we gathered at lady pat's home to "nosh" on brunchie type stuff, all dressed in our p.j. finest. what a sight. Queen dee came armed with two games for us to have fun with, as well as treats to share. we had lots of laughs trying to answer the games question's. i'm sure that many of us were brain challanged after the holiday's! we ate and then we ate some more. we had birthday cake, and other goodies. we had a talk about our groups hopes and plans for the year ahead, our senond year. part of our celebration was devoted to the purple rose gang's first anniversary! does it seem like a year has passed since we banded together? it was a good way to start out 2005. i would like to thank everyone who attended, and helped out. also thanks so much for the cards and presents! you all made this years birthday really special in a way that i wasn't used to , the comradery of our group means so very much thanks. we are off to another year, growing, bonding, enjoying being a Red Hatter!

Lady Pat was unable to join us for breakfast in January. We met at Perkins and had a grand time. Be sure to ask for Steven if you ever go to Perkins. He is absolutely an awesome server! He took very good care of us and laughed with us. There were five ladies enjoying this Saturday morning get together.

hello to all....... reporting on our february outing... Lady Rosa Bella found a really fun outing for our group. on saturday february 12th, 2005 our group gathered at Splatter's Studio Ltd in spencerport to express ourselves. what a fun time! each person selected a piece to "design" from an ample selecton, chose a design, freehand or with stencils & all kinds to props, like tools, sponges, brushes, etc., then chose the colors to use on the piece. then the real fun began. our host and shop owner was very helpful, informative and gracious. we were there almost three hours, creating our masterpiece's. i don't know if anything will get to the museum of modern art or anything but we a great fun time! coffee was provided and some of the ladies brought snacks so we could keep up our strength. splatter's provided aprons. after you complete your piece you pay and the owner labels your piece and sends it to be fired. the creations are available to be picked up the next week. i'm looking forward to seeing the final product. perhaps we could find a way to share our "works", either in person or in photos . any ideas???? so thanks to Lady Rosa Bella for a great idea! till next time. lady pat

this is lady pat reporting.... on saturday february 26th we had our second monthly breakfast with "the Queen". eight members attended, we met at bob evans at 9 am. it was a good time to catch up on things' . queen dee shared some of the highlighta of her recent trip to vegas. everyone was delighted about our day at splatter's studio, and that it might be something to do again, perhaps in the fall. queen dee outlined the upcoming events. we seem to have lots of events coming up to keep us busy into may! we talked about having a way to communicate within our group and dee has set up a message board on yahoo for us to use to share our comments to each other. it was a yummy way to spend a short time and renue&review. the next breakfast with the queen is sat march 26th. see you soon... lady pat

hello to all purple rose ladies.... thank you queen dee for a wonderful evening at your home. thanks also for sharing your gift of sub-tray with all the "fixin's". it was yummy. and dessert! well being a dessert person myself.... it was super. not everyone could attend but those of us that we there had a very enjoyable evening, and i'm sure i speak for all. we had time to go over upcoming outings, get info needed for those events. the "bingo" game was a nice touch. thank you soooo much, queen dee for being so generous and supportive to your subjects. the name tag and "business" cards are great, also the magnets. it was a good time to learn more about each other. thanks again queenie..... lady pat
(March 15, 2005)

on saturday march 19th,2005 the purple rose gang gathered to celebrate march birthdays at the arigato restaurant in henrietta. the birthday ladies included duchess deb, who has turned the magic age and has changed her hat color, congrats deb, we know aarp was just waiting for you!. also birthdayis celebrated are lady norma lu and our very own queen dee. unfortunately lady norma lu was not in attendance- we missed you norma lu! we were seven including the lovely daughter of duchess deb. who, by the way must have thought "what have i let my mother talk me into??" she was a great sport and a very pretty youg lady! we really enjoyed her company. duchess deb prepared a lovely favor gift for each of us. thanks so much deb. it was a fun evening. the food was very good, do not consult queen dee on this. our personal chef was quite a showman, with cleavers and knives a'flashin, as he tossed and juggled eggs, with flames shooting high in the air, we had to watch our feathers! the meal was only the beginning. our queen made quite a presentation to deb making her "queen for the day" ok a couple of hours. deb was showered with her dream gift "a day at the spa" she was given all the things she will need for a truely decadent pampering, complete with a purple crown. deb was overwhelmed to say the least! after dinner we were treated to the arigato birthday salute, complete with gongs and bells, song and a special outfit for the honerable guest to wear. queen dee was ever the "sport", and the birthday ladies were saluted in asian style. lights flashing as great photos were taken. it was a delightful evening filled with laughter. however the only down side was getting seated, well you had to be there. best wishes to the birthday ladies of march. live, love&laugh and enjoy many happy returns. till thee next time.... lady pat, hystorian. p.s. wishing one and all a happy easter and a happy spring!

March 26th - Breakfast with the Queen
Thank you to all the ladies who were able to join me, Queen Dee, for breakfast on this day before Easter! The service wasn't that good, but the company was excellent! Many smiles and much laughter filled out table. Your Queen thanks all of you for the gifts bestowed this day.

A Note From Our Forum:
Breakfast with the girls was a very special event today. Thank you ladies for coming out enforce to help me celebrate! And thank you one and all for the cards and gifts. You make me feel very special. It's an honor to know each of you. We have grown into a great chapter! This is exactly what I wanted when I became a Queen and started my chapter. I did not know any of you until you asked to join. Now I have 14 very special friends (and still two very loving daughters).

From the bottom of my red hat heart...thank you!

Kazoos & Carousels
April 9 was a beautiful day for the gang’s road trip, arranged by Miss Belle. We departed Rochester at 9AM and headed for Eden, NY to visit the Kazoo factory. Countess Karena and Queen Dee made their own metal kazoo, visited the museum and browsed the gift shop. We ate a nice lunch in a local diner then on to the next stop which was the Carousel Museum. We participated in a tour and rode a vintage carousel. Back on the road, we ended our day with an enjoyable Wine & Cheese Tasting at Kutter’s in Corfu.

Many thanks to Miss Belle and her beau (and our chauffer), Billy Ray, for putting this together for us. Sadly, many ladies were unable to join us for this great outing, with several declining in the 11th hour.

Queen Dee sent an email with pictures to Hatquarters. The following is their response:
Hi Queen Dee,
Thank you so much for the wonderful email. You three ladies sure looked like you had fun. Who would of thought there was 18 steps to make a Kazoo. I forwarded the email to our EQM Sue Ellen and I also put it up on our RHS bulletin board. Thanks again for the update and keep them coming.

Red Hat Day Celebration

hello to you all. the purple rose gang's first event of the spring was a smashing success. thank you countess karena! and happy 7th year red hat society anniversary to us all. on saturday april 23,2005 the purple rose gang gathered for high tea at thyme in the garden. what a lovely time we had. although the weather wasn't spring everyone was decked out in red hat style, lots of finery and high spirits. it was my first high tea and i was delighted!

the luncheon was wonderful, and many of us "poured". i think we all agreed that it was a great time to relax and enjoy each other's company and get to know each other better. countess karena's lovely centerpiece graced our table and was given as a door prize afterward. queen dee surprized us with a bag of treats. thank you queen dee for always finding ways to aid and encourage us in our red hat-ness. you are a super queen! the affair was so well attended and enjoyed. it seems as though we are getting "a grip" on being a chapter in the red hat society and it will become what we make of it. i think we had a wonderful gathering, i'm looking forward to many more to come, how about you? happy spring!.. till we meet again..... lady pat

TAR - A Race to the Finish!

Duchess Deb went all out and planned a very fun Amazing Race Finale party. We knew we were at the right location by the flag hanging outside her home. There were plenty of directional signs so we had no problem locating the stairs, restroom, entrance, exit, garbage and more. Following the pattern of the show, Duchess Deb had clues, roadblocks and detours. We had so much fun playing the game that we had to remind ourselves to watch the show! We were all happy with the outcome of the finale and Queen Dee won the at-home version. Fun and sillines was had by all as shown in the pictures. Thank you Duchess Deb for all your hard work putting this evening together. Too bad more ladies didn't come out for the fun.

Gang Game Night

on friday evening june 10, 2005, empress nancy evited our gang to her home (complete with a pet community) for a night of fun & games. there were seven in attendance. we ordered pizza and wings sans "fish", heavy on the "rooms" and onions along with whatever anyone wished for. so we gorged out! after we let our belts out a notch we decided on playing domino's. some of us who have never played the game were at the mercy of those who knew the game. that being said it was a 'hoot'.. we played several games while telling stories and much laughter. it was great to have an informal-let your hair down-evening. nancy's husband soon departed from our company as did daughter kim. i can't think of why as we were cackling away splendedly. later we enjoyed, well really loved dessert. empress nancy had all the 'fixins' for us to make our own version of ice cream sundae's. since none of us cares that much for ice cream, if you believe that one-i've got some land to sell! it was very enjoyable. thank you nancy for a fun evening. before anyone knew it it was after eleven pm. time does fly when you're having fun...... see ya' later. lady pat

Fore Play OR When was the last time you had a hole in one?

Hi Gang, Countess Karena reporting here........Wednesday evening, June 22 at 7:00 on a beautiful summer evening, Queen Dee, Duchess Deb, Lady Tess and Countess Karena met at Adventure Landing in Greece for an evening of championship Red Hat Foreplay. The competition was ferocious with Lady Tess winning the trophy. Of course, she was the score keeper for the evening so that might have had something to do with the final tally. Queen Dee came in second on the scoreboard, Duchess Deb third, and Countess Karena won the boobie prize! All participants did score at least one hole-in-one. HURRAH!

To celebrate our achievements in the Women's Putt-Putt Hall of Fame, we crossed Ridge Road and pigged out at Friendly's Ice Cream Parlor. Our server was vivacious and made us all feel VERY WELCOME with her FRIENDLY enthusiasm. We had so much fun, we are thinking of meeting again for another evening of Putt-Putt competition. Maybe there is a green jacket in the future!
