PUSHT
began in June of 1995 when Eric Durbin and
Kurt Schlotzhauer started playing together.
Kurt was just picking up the drums after a six year sabbatical,
and Eric was a bass player who out of the frustration of not finding
a guitar player to do what he was looking for picked up a guitar.
The only training he had on guitar was being shown how to play two
note power chords and that is still all the training he has to this
day. Eric played guitar in those practices because it gave a better
feel of what the final song would sound like.
The
practices went well and the duo decided to play their nine songs
for Eric's birthday party. Many other musicians were invited for
a jam session afterwards but only two showed up Ron
and Stacy Corbin. The foursome decided to put that together
and thus formed Entry Level Position
who put out one self released CD of a wide variety of alternative
rock. Eric left Entry Level Position
to pursue other musical interests before the release of that CD
in 1998. Kurt stayed, and they played as a three piece successfully
for quite a while.
Eric
and Kurt came back together in March of 1999 along with Keith Chapman
who had only picked up a bass a few months earlier and was a natural.
In only a week of playing Keith had already started writing great
material and his talent grew from there. The threesome started looking
for other musicians a vocalist, another guitarist, and two
vocalists (a strange idea of Eric's). Jonathan
Haney joined to fill out the second guitar spot for a few
months but then left due to equipment failure and conflicts with
work schedules. The threesome played a party opening for Entry
Level Position (Kurt plays for both bands) and got a
good response, even offered a gig as an instrumental band. Long
time friend Brian Reynolds joined to fill one vocal spot. Keith
and his wife Chris found out that they were going to have a baby
and along with that he was pursuing some education to become a lay-minister/deacon
in the Lutheran Church. Due to the time constraints involved with
these exciting developments in his life, Keith had to kind of "put
in his notice". Joshua Wilson joined to complete the vocals. Shortly
there after John Lee joined to take over on bass.
In
January of 2000, PUSHT entered the recording
studio to record the album "Attitude". After completing the recording
sessions Joshua Wilson resigned his position in PUSHT to take care
of some family obligations. We will miss him, Rachel and his talents.
Joshua moved half way accross the country and is currently checking
out some bands in his new area to possibly join. During all this,
John Hildebrant stepped up to the mic and joined the PUSHT crew.
Then on May 24th the first PUSHT cd, "Attitude" was released.

Pusht
suffered a severe blow in the fall of 2000 as vocalist Brian
Reynolds and bassist John Lee
both put in their walking papers. Brian had other responsibilities
that required his attention and John was off to college. We will
miss them and thier talents but wish them all the best. Their contribution
to Pusht will never be forgotten. Not to be disuaded...(merely a
flesh wound...Your Arm's off! no it isn't, yes it is!!!, I've had
worse, YOU LIE!!!)... Early in 2000, Kurt decided playing in two
bands was just too much of a good thing. So, lucky for us PUSHT
won and he decided to leave Entry Level Position. PUSHT put
out the word and Donald Damron answered
in a big way. Joining the PUSHT crew to take over the bass he has
added a new dimension to our sound. Bringing with him material that
he had written along with marathon jam sessions we are well on our
way to writing material for the new cd. As much of a boost as Donald
was PUSHT was still short a vocalist. Kurt, Eric and Donald all
took up the mic in addition to their other duties to fill out the
vocal parts. This stretching of creative muscle has taken some time
to work out but as with all growth the results have been amazing
and wonderful.
In
March 2001, Joshua Wilson came back
with the Pusht Crew after John Hildebrandt
no longer filled the lead singer slot. We worked on a lot of new
material during the year getting ready for the next CD. But, towards
the end of summer Joshua and then Donald
decided to leave the band which left us again on the search for
new band members.
Not
long after that, our search ended. Roger
Summerville and Carl
Russell filled the void. Roger on the bass, and Carl
doing lead vocals in between Kurt's primal growling in the
background. Things have just completely come together now. Once
again we have taken things to a whole new level. But hey, don't
just take our word for it come check it out live....
In
Feb 2002 Pusht entered the studio to work on a 7 song EP to showcase
their new sound. The music and lyrical content are much more intense.
There has been a lot of bonding with the new lineup and it comes
through in the music. The project was finished in March. The EP
titled "Friends" has been available since March of 2002 for $5 plus
shipping. Lyrics are available and sound clips will be coming soon.
Pusht will be touring throughout the spring and summer and will
enter the studio in the fall for a full length project that should
be out winter 2002. Most of the material for the full length is
finished now and you can catch it at a live show. Check back for
updates about up and coming shows.
