I don't reckon this is truly an FAQ, since there haven't been any Qs Frequently A'd, but just in case folks are curious about some things, I figured I'd post some answers anyhow. :-)
Q. The copyright date says 1996. That's like, in the last century. Why are you selling these now?
A. Because self-publishing is a lot like hollering down a well: you can put all the effort into it you like, but if nobody else hears you, well, ain't nobody but the frogs gonna notice. In other words, I'm not a good salesman, and between consignment sales at the local feed stores or corner book stores (six copies at a time, max), and several moves between ranches and jobs ... about 200 copies wound up in storage. And there they've sat.
Q. What sort of condition are they in?
A. Very Good. Unread, tight, clean, may have slight scuffs on spine. Just as listed on Amazon.com.
Q. So why dig them out now?
A. Because it's taken me this long to realize we have Technology, and I could actually advertize myself for free on the Internet. Never said I was a particularly quick study.
Q. Do you really hope to sell many this way?
A. Well, you know what they say, hope springs eternal.
Q. Can I get my copy autographed?
A. Don't see why not. I don't believe the Amazon Marketplace order form includes space for personal notes, but if you do place an order, feel free to email me at the same time with your request for an autographed copy. When your order is confirmed, I'd be glad to sign before I stuff it in the envelope. My email address is wuzreb at hotmail dot com. Sorry no hotlink, but I've already got all the Spam I can eat.
Q. Would you donate a copy to my school/classroom/reading group/home-school studies?
A. Uh ... well, nobody has asked yet, but if you can convince me that you really do have a school/classroom/reading group/whatever, I would certainly be willing to talk about it. Just shoot me an email.
Q. I am with [FillInTheBlankHere] Magazine or Book Review, and I would like a copy of "Backtracks" for the purposes of writing and printing a review.
A. Hot diggety! You are? You would? *ahem* Why, certainly, I would be pleased to oblige. Just email me at wuzreb at hotmail dot com and we'll talk.
