I found some foam siding material left over from a remodeling project in the basement. By cutting through all but the final plastic coating, the foam could be hinged in a fashion to constuct a triangle.

The triangular construction seemed to be a good idea, but the solar panel didn't pivot nicely over the top. The thickness of the foam created a two top ridges rather than a triangular shape with one ridge.

It wasn't clear how well other parts would attach to the foam. The plastic coating pulled away from the foam on the folded seams when fairly small forces were applied.
