Hey wrestling fans...welcome to the debut of 'On The Road," the brand new addtion to the rapidly growing Pro Wrestling In The Know website!!!...In this great new feature to the site, we, teh P.W.I.T.K. crew will be covering live events in person (and trying to spread the word about Pro Wrestling In The Know as well)...We will still be posting YOUR show reports in our "Show Report" area of the site, so fans and promoters are urged to continue sending in their stuff... Well, I've probably bored ya enough with my babbling, so lets get to the show!!!Here goes:
This show took place in Chehalis,Washington, at the Yardbirds mall...I gotta be honest with ya, I was a little skeptical about the venue (it was pretty much a flea market hall), but it turned out to be an awesome venue to run a pro wrestling show at...WSW gets all my props for finding the place...The turnout was awesome as well, at least 100 to 120 showed for the event...
Well, anyways, the show kicked off with a pretty good match between Pitman, and Critter...The contrast in their styles made for an interesting match...Critter was just a powerhouse in the ring, while Pitman show a pretty good array of kicks and pretty good mat skills...Good back and forth action, until Critter hit Pitman with a brutal spear to end it....WINNER: Critter
The Blanchard Brothers (Jeremy and Bubba) then came out and got on the mic and cut a promo about them deserving a shot at the WSW tag team titles, that are currently held by Mr 80's C.C. Poison and "Smooth" Steve Rush...
The next match pitted Jesse Jiminez vs one half of the tag team champions, "Smooth" Steve Rush...This match started off a bit slow...BUT, was probably the most weird thing I've seen in a match (funniest too!!!)...Steve started off by putting the hand up in challengin Jesse to a test of strength...Each time Jesse went for the hand, Steve would switch hands, which got a good laugh outta everyone, even Jesse...Eventually things got even sillier, when the joking turned into a nipple twisting match...the twisting went back and forth for a good minute or two, and ended with referee Mark Watson getting his twisted...this was a hilarious scene!!!...Once they really got down to business...The match was a good back and forth struggle between two pretty evenly matched guys, which was highlited by the two taking it out to the floor, where Steve took a hard, and I mean hard bump on the floor (no mats i must add!!!) after being clotheslined by Jesse...Eventually they made their way back into the ring where Steve eventually surprised Jesse and rolled through Jesse's running powerslam attempt...Steve's momentum caused him to roll right through the slam, and pin Jesse for the win...WINNER: Smooth Steve Rush
The third match of the night sawtwo great up and comers, Damon Scythe and Robbie Lance go at it...These guys are former tag team partners, and have both trained under "Tornado" Tony Kozina, so these two definitely aren't strangers to each others in ring tecnique...They both displayed great mat skills and hit some sick areial spots as well...This just could have been the best match of the evening, if it wasnt for Damon's use of a singapore cane on Robbie, causing his disqualification...I(t is still always a treat to see matches with Kozina's students...WINNER: Robbie Lance by DQ
Ring announcer "Bulldog " Bob Brown Jr. made an announcement that the Blanchard Brothers "bought" some air time over the next few minutes, so the Blanchards came out and cut another promo, and DEMANDED a shot at the titles, or they werent gonna leave the ring...They called out the champs, and Steve Rush came out w/out his partner C.C. Poison (who wasnt in attendance)... It turned into Steve taking a beating at the hands of the Blanchards, topped off by a con-chair-to...The American Idols came out to make the save, setting up the next match between the Blanchards and the American Idols (Tony Terrific and G-Shock)...Pretty good match ending with the Blanchards hittiong G-Shock with a Doomsday Device for the win...WINNERS: The Blanchard Brothers...Then the show went to a brief intermission...
After the intermission, Skag Rollins made his way to the ring for the main event of the night...The WSW championship was on the line with Skag challenging Billy Two Eagles for his WSW heavyweight championship...This match was a brutal back and forth struggle between the two competitors...Some of the most intense chops to the chest I've ever seen (Naitch wouldve been proud....whoooooooo!!!!)...Billy even pulled off his patented Old School maneuver, where he walks the top rope while holding his opponent in a wristlock and comes down and the momentum carries it over into an armdrag, which is always exciting to see...By the way, Billy is actually the guy who taught the Undertaker how to walk the rope like he does (theres a little bit of knowledge for you youngsters)...These two went at it until the ref happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and got knocked out by an accidental chair shot...while the ref was out ,Damon Scythe came out and blasted Billy with a few wicked shots from his kendo stick...Skag rolled over for the cover, and Damon rolled the ref back into the ring, for the 1...2...3...and your new WSW heavyweight champoin....Skag Rollins...After the match, promoter/commissioner Walter Meek came out and suspended Damon for interfering in the match, and made the announcement that Billy would get a rematch next month, in his favorite kind of match...An Indian Strap Match, so if your in the Pacific Northwest on the 12th of June, I'd make it a point to be in Chehalis, Washington for this one...It's gonna be huge...Thats it for now, so till next time, keep on supporting the independant wrestling scene, and we will see ya at the matches!!! |
