(est. January 1997)

We are an enthusiastic group, based on Christian principles, that meets to learn, have fun, and serve our community through the art of quilt-making.  Our purpose is to share knowledge and skills in a supportive, nurturing atmosphere, while serving others in need through charitable donations of some of our creations; little pieces of comfort... quilts.

Along with the wealth of knowledge we possess, as a group we offer:

*  An opportunity to exchange skills, techniques, ideas, friendship and encouragement.

*  Workshops and demos on basic & advanced quilting techniques.

*  Private bulletin board/website access (password protected), regular newsletter with information on current guild events, local, and other quilting related events, monthly block instructions, tips on projects, etc.
*  Potlucks and holiday events.

*  Quilting Retreats and Day Workshops.

REGULAR GUILD MEETINGS are held on the 2nd Tuesday evening of each calendar month, for 2-3 hours.  These are attended by as many of our members as can make it out for the evening.  Many look forward to getting out of their busy household to just spend time with others who understand the lure of fabric, and many bring hand work to stitch while they visit with guild-sisters.  As well as the socializing,
> announcements are made and guild business is discussed,
> the blocks we each make for our charity quilts are submitted from last month, and the ones due next time are taught and instructions handed out,
> beverages and refreshments are provided,
> members are encouraged to bring whatever hand-work they'd like to work on during the meeting,

ADDITIONAL, OPTIONAL MEETINGS may be held at various times throughout the month, at various locations/members homes.  We may use one of these meetings to have a quilt bee to work on our charity quilts, or we may throw a shower for one amongst us, or have a Christmas cookie exchange, or meet to go on a shopping field trip (mmm... shopping!!!), etc.

MEMBERSHIP is capped at just over 40 members, so that we may remain cozy & comfortable, otherwise it would be too difficult to find a low rent place where we could all meet.  (Unless you know of a generous person with a big, big room we could all meet in?) Please email us at: pxp.newmember@gmail.com for membership information.

OUR MAIN FOCUS IS
        THE CHARITY WORK
                    WE DO.

We are passionate about serving our communities through regular donations of quilts for families, especially kids, in crisis.  Currently we donate aprox. 50-60 quilts a year to various Calgary women's/family shelters, and these quilts are given to the kids, to keep, as they move on to new homes and lives.  These precious ones may have been through the most traumatic times of their lives, and often don't have much more than the clothes on their backs, so we rejoice in the opportunity to let them be wrapped in a quilt of their very own, so they know that
they are precious and loved.

If you're a novice quilter, you will learn new techniques and gain confidence as you try your newly taught skills to sew & complete each month's charity block project.  If you're not a new quilter, you will gain the satisfaction of sharing your skills through taking part in acts of generousity and caring.  New friendships will be formed and opportunity for growth and fine tuning of our gifts & talents will be plentiful.
