It is extremely unfortunate. The Hong Kong Pui Ying Middle School did not take individual class pictures, the School Management called it a "tradition" and it was absolutely not negotiable, not until 1998 several alumni filed angry complaint to the Board of Directors, the Board Chair ordered the School to take class pictures immediately. But.. our good days have gone. The only exception is Middle 5A, we have an unofficial class picture.

In 1965, all Chinese Schools in Hong Kong switched over from the 6 years JM/SM system to the 5 year system, with M6 being an optional matriculation class. The School refused to recognize M5 as the graduation class, even M5 was officially recognized by the Education System as the graducation class. M5 students were permitted to take a non-designated class picture. Not until 1982 the School took a compromise that students of M5 and M6 were both graduates. No remedies were done to rectify the damages previously done.

Our reunion was scheduled on Founder's Day (24th April, 2000) in Hong Kong. The Vancouver Pui Ying Alumni Association gathered a few BC alumni to attend a reunion in Vancouver. The alumni in Calgary and Toronto were retroactively having a gathering. |
