Even as a child, Kendra had always cared about the world around her. Helping every sick animal she found. Crying when wooded areas in her home town of Reynoldsburg, OH, got cut down. So it was no surprise when she joined the Ecology Club in high school and began organizing various protests and park clean ups. After graduation she moved on to become an investigative reporter for Defenders of Wildlife; an organization set to do just what the title ensues. There she really made her impact on the world by exposing several governmental plots for oil drilling in the artcic, and plots to massacre several packs of the recently re-introduced grey wolf.
It was her accomplishments that attracted Xander to her. He was impressed with her zeal to defend the environment, and to what lengths she would go to do it. This enthusiasm she had even when everywhere she turned there was something blocking her path. He watched her for a few years, as she kept battling against companies to lower their pollution levels. As she traveled the country helping out at various wild-life restoration facilities. He was watching to see if she had what it would take to survive the gift he wanted to give her.
So he continued to watch.....until one night he saw the perfect opportunity. Kendra had gone out with some friends from work on Valentine's Day. They went to a bar and joked at each other all night about being married to their work, but were in good spirits over all. One of them even pointed Xander out to Kendra and teased her that she should go ask him out, he seemed to be alone and a nice enough fella. Just her type too....woodsy. Kendra had just shook her head and sipped her mixed drink. Soon enough though her friends left her, either pairing off with a guy they'd just met, or some going back to the hotel they were all currently staying at to finish up some research. Xander saw his time for waiting was now over, and he approached her.
They talked for a while, and he soon asked her what she was working on. This of course let her guard drop completely as she began rambling on about a local company that was contiminating the lake near where they were but wouldn't do anything to change it, and in fact was denying they were even doing it. She had made mention of waiting on her friend Richard from the EPA to get there, but he couldn't make it for a month or so. So she and her team would stay put and collect as much information as they could in the mean time. Xander only nodded, half listening to her and mostly just watching her veins pulse in her neck. Soon he asked her to go for a walk.
She readily agreed, as he seemed to be as interested in her efforts as she was. And so they walked off into the woods behind the bar, in fact she lead him down a trail she'd traveled many time alone at night. It lead to the company she was trying to shut down. She had almost got caught there two nights prior taking pictures, but managed to slip away before the guard could get a clear view of her. As she reminisced, she did not notice how close Xander had gotten to her until his hand slipped around her waist and pulled her back to him. She started to scream, but his other hand clamped over her mouth, gently, but it silenced her as he bit into her neck. At first panic spurred through her body, but then she slouched against him as she felt such an intense euphoria she'd never felt before. But soon even that faded as the world went black to her, her heartbeat coming to a very slow rhythm. It was then that Xander forced her mouth to open, and dripped his blood on to her lips, and tongue.

She came to, tasting the coppery blood in her mouth and looked around in a daze. Her eyes blinking, as everything looked.....different somehow..then as though remembering her hand flew to her neck and she looked at Xander.

"What have you done?? What are you??"

"Made you like me, is what. I am....Gangrel."

He turned to go and she somehow found the strength to stand and stumbled after him in an attempt to grab his arm, demanding to know what these new feeilngs were. Xander sighed, and decided he'd give her 3 months of teaching, and after that.... she was on her own.
That was a year ago. Kendra never did meet up with Richard, causing him some alarm as she had promised to let him take her out for dinner on her birthday in April. In fact......she was all but missing for a month and a half, until one night, her boss received a call from her. When asked where she had disappeared to and why she had not told anyone, or got in touch until now, she came up with some fabricated tale about almost being caught taking a sample from the lake that night her friends left her, and being threatened. So she had paniced and went into hiding. Her boss didn't buy it at first, knowing how determined Kendra was, but he eventually came to accept it.

Since then Kendra still works for Defenders of Wildlife, but she never works with anyone else now, and refuses any help that is offered. In fact she only communicates by phone and emails these days. While her boss still thinks something odd is up, she is still one of his best investigators so says nothing.

Her latest assignment has her investigating some odd occurances, centered around a lake in a small urban/rural area outside of Kansas City.........
