My Father

You call yourself my father?!

Just look at you, you couldn't support us anymore
Quit your first job and now you're working four
Dragged us down to live with you and your parents
Because of your bad credit we couldn't buy or rent
A house of our own, why didn't you listen to Mom?
She said what she felt, she said what she thought
Because of your selfish ways we're not there
Good for you, we're finally out of your hair!

You call yourself my father?!

You made your own plans, ambitions in life
But you never went out and had fun with your wife
Never took the kids to play in the park
I never really saw you til it was already dark
But what about us, your family?
The kids and your wife who you called honey
You didn't include us in your plan
So Mom divorced you, married another man
She got mad and took us away
I don't see you that often, but what the hey?!

You call yourself my father?!

Why did you lie to us, you just lost my trust
You lost my respect and my love
Lost my admiration, you made a bad calculation
You think you're so smart, but that's not what I see
Because look at you, you just lost your family!

You call yourself my father?!

You chose them over us
You helped them out, when in a fuss
But they never gave you anything in return
They turned their backs, but you'll never learn
They hate us now, especially Mom
How could you let them?
You let it all go wrong...

You call yourself my father?!

But I guess you still care, you send your child support
Talk to us on the phone and tell us your heart is sore
It's hard without you, hard to say goodbye
But I still hate you because you made Mom cry
I hope you forgive me, I've forgiven you
I haven't been good like I should
But you're my Dad, the only one I have
And you're my Dad, but you make me mad!

You call yourself my father?!

You'll always be my father...
