Philosophical Musings: The Meaning Of Life

How do you prove something is audible? You hear it. How do you prove happiness is the ultimate desire? Because humans ultimately desire it.
So, is attaining happiness the meaning of life? Is that our purpose? Does someone not live a true life if they die unhappy, unsatisfied with what they have done or not done with their life?
Maybe my constant search for happiness is not silly and idealistic. Maybe I am not being selfish and deliberately brooding on my sorrow. To desire happiness is only natural. It is my purpose. The point to my existence. My meaning.
Why else are we forced to go to school and learn? So we have the means, the knowledge, of how to become happy in this day and age. Why do some of us go on to college? To further our knowledge in order to obtain a hefty-paying career that will support our families and provide us with everyday needs, thusly keeping or leading up to the happiness that we have lived our lives, basically worked up to, to acquire.

If we did not seek happiness, then would we ever find a beginning? If life is defined as the seeking of happiness, and you don't seek it, then are you undefined? Does your life remain forever nonexistent?

But who does not seek happiness? Ever since we are born, we are raised to lead a life of our own someday and in the process, become happy with that life.

However, let us look at those who never find happiness. Even though they sought it, they still never found it; does that mean their life was for nothing? If, perhaps, we are defined by the ends, what about the process? Could a life be undefined if happiness is never found?

No, a life is not undefined if happiness is never found. It is unfortunate for those who end fruitless, but that does not mean that the absence of happiness, our goal, ultimate desire, should erase that person's life or existence. Happiness is why we live. We live in hopes of becoming happy sometime or another. Since happiness is the ultimate desire, it is our fuel to live. That is why it is the reason for living. Life is not defined by whether we reach happiness or not, but by our desire to reach it. Why do people commit suicide? Because they are not happy and they do not see themselves becoming happy anytime in their future so they stop living. They cannot reach the happiness they want so they choose to die. Life is not worth living if you don't have the opportunity for happiness.

But why do people feel as though they have no chance for happiness? They find that the journey appears fruitless. Why do we seek something, then, that seemse out of reach? It is because it gives us something to live for. But why live for happiness? Why not make it easier and pursue the road of contentment?

This discussion has raised many valid points on the given topic. As a result, a revised version of my definition of life is now presented. The meaning of life is the pursuit of satisfaction on any level or plain. This pursuit is motivated by an ultimate desire of contentness, completion, achievement, fulfillment, accomplishment, acquisition, attainment, finality, realization, conclusion, resolution, perfection, entirety, and any other incentive in relation.
