There was and old man with hair turning gray
Who sat all alone on his porch day after day,
Waiting for the postman to bring a letter from his son.
The postman drove past--no letter, no, not one!
then into the house to wait for his son to call,
He sat by the phone, but it didn't ring at all.
It was always the same way, day after day
Until one day, the old man passed away!
The old man was sitting by the phone.
He died so lonely and all alone!
If only his son had taken time to call,
Then he would have no regrets at all!
Now the son will cry bitter tears
for his neglect through reclining years.
The mother had long since gone home
Leaving the old man lonely and all alone!
