British Oak 14 Quarry Bank Thorns 0

The 1st ever Quarry Bank Thorns game did not go too well.  But even though we got beat 14-0 there was still positives to take from the game.  The British Oak are a team that have played together for about 5 years and are in a higher league than us.

The lineup for Quarry Bank Thorns was:
Shrimpy Snr, Declan, Hagley Nick, Gaz (c), James, Shrimpy Jnr, Murphy, Geoghegan, Connell, Goode, Hatty. Subs: Coleman (for James), Adjei (for Goode), Ronan (for Murphy)
This was the same as announced apart from Ston being unable to make it due to illness and Ronan was able to make the bence.

The game did not kick off untill 12:40pm, this was due to the pitch not being booked.  We ended up playing at The Park Gate Centre which was near Kiddeminster.

The game started evenly even though British Oak scored an early goal and at half time it was 4-0.  We played well even though it was 4-0 to them although few chances were  created.

At half time I came on for James.  In the 2nd half they scored early goals. One of which was a rebound from a penalty.  The spot kick was saved but the rebound going in off the penalty taker.  Our best 2 chances fell to Geoghegan, one from a good ball from Ronan and the other from good play for the midfielders which passed the ball to Adjei who spotted Geoghegan free at the back post.  Geoghegan's shot hit the side netting.

Even though the scoreline looked bad there was still good things to take from it and at least we shouldn't play a team as good as that in our league.  The next game is against The Medda on Sunday 20th August.
