The team was named Sunday morning before the game and was:
Shrimpy Snr, Kevin, Tom, Nick, Declan, Geoghegan, Murphy, Gaz, Shrimpy Jnr, Kenny Lee, Goode. Subs: Adjei (for Goode 2nd), Connell (for Murphy HT), Hatty, Ston (for Kenny Lee 2nd).
There was 2 changes from the team that last 7-0 to Hollybush with Hatty and Ronan coming out of the team and Tom and Goode coming in to the team. Tom played at centre back with Murphy moving to centre midfield and Geoghegan playing on the right. Goode replaced Hatty up front.
The game started well for the Thorns and were in the lead with not long gone thanks to Gaz's second goal of the season. The cross came in, everyone missed it and it fell to Gaz at the back post to noad the ball home. We were the better team but just before half time their attacker got through one of one with the goalkeeper and equalised. Just before this we had a penalty appeal turned down.
At half time it was 1-1 which was an unfair reflection on the game. Russell made a sub with Murphy coming off being replaced by Connell. Connell took his familiar right midfield position for the 2nd half and Geoghegan moved back to his familiar centre midfield position.
We started off the better team in the 2nd half and took the lead for the 2nd time in the game. It was a good goal after a good move. Connell received a pass from Geoghegan and he put a cross in to Shrimp Jnr and he fired home in the top left hand corner. That was his 3rd goal of the season and he is now our top scorer.
Later in the half Ston and Adjei came on for Kenny Lee and Goode. Stechford put more pressure on us during the end of the game and got their 2nd equaliser of the game. This was a good point though but could of been more. It was also our 1st point under Russell and our 2nd match at home in a row unbeaten. Hagley was once again named man of the match.
The next match is against Bulls Head at Grafton Road on Sunday at 10:30.
