| South Pacific Area Publication |
| The South Pacific Area has its own publication ... "Quota Calling". In 1950 Maisie Crossman, of Katoomba, began producing 'Quota News', a newsletter typed, roneoed and stapled into booklet form. This was the forerunner of 'Quota Calling', first published in 1951 by Mavis McClymont, who continued in the role for the next 29 years. Beginning as "News of the 24th District", 'Quota Calling' in April 1953 became the "Magazine of the 13th and 24th Quota Districts". In 1980, after 29 years, Mavis McClymont decided to call it a day. She received Honorary Recognition from Quota International Inc (believed to be the only Australian to be so honoured). The editorship of 'Quota Calling' was taken over by Margaret Connell, of Ballina until 1992 when Julie Rose Moffatt of Manly (at the time South Pacific Area Director) assumed responsibility. Julie Rose served for nine years before Pam Nankivell of Parkes was elected in March 2001. Pam has resigned as editor after 8 years she willcease after the October 2009 edition. 'Quota Calling' publishes as much news and information as Clubs wish to send it. Over the 49 years of its publication it has covered everything from local Club fund-raising events to Charter Dinners to International Installations. Now owned by all the incorporated Quota Clubs in the South Pacific Area, 'Quota Calling' has changed its look several times over the years and is currently in newspaper format. Any items for publication, enquiries, subscription renewals etc can be forwarded to the Editor, Pam Nankivell by e-mail at: pamnankivell@hotmail.com |
