Truth matters
because the World is real. Truth reflects the World and not just our minds and language
biases, since it enables us to interact with the World successfully. Real truth has real effects in the real world. To be sure the world might seem transitory and empemeral, but it has underlying invariants that make truth possible.
Delusion is the opposite
of Truth - it's letting our ideas about the World dominate our perceptions of the Truth. It distorts our consciousness by highlighting what fits our delusory schemas, and ignoring all information that doesn't fit. Delusion imagines that it is the whole of truth, and pulls the wool over eyes by convincing us of that, of working in our emotional guts so we see attacks on delusion as attacks on our Selves and our Sacreds.
Ideas, especially delusory ones, are mind-viruses that vie for time in our consciousness - that's how they live and are preserved. Remembering refreshes them in our memories rather than letting them be over-written by our brain's memory 'operating system'. Ideas are in some sense, Alive.
But since they are living things, they are subject to entropy and decay. They are not eternal, god-like entities, even though many worship them as such.
Ideas, we've all got to have them, but some are closer to reality, and more encompassing of reality's diversity, than others. Successful Mind-Management involves weeding out 'bad' ideas that have become mere 'selfish' replicators at the expense of all others.
