The first meeting of the British Immigration Committee
				In a meeting that had took place at the office of Mesrs Samuel B. Hale & Co., the anglo-parlant society met with the object of cosidering the best course to pursue, to afford every possible accomodation to the Irish Immigrants about to arrive by the SS Dresden. It was February 12th, 1889. There, Mr. Eduardo Casey was unanimously voted as  President of the Committee and Mr. John Drysdale Vice President, who owing to Mr. Casey’s absence took the chair, Mr. F. H. Mulhall was named Secretary. Amongst those presents we could name the following gentelmen: Michael Dinneen, Guillermo Walton, Williams, J W Reade, Thomas Duggan, Douglas Darkin, Eduardo Kenny, Miguel J. Byrne, Maurice Fleming, S. Lyndon Owen, Rev. F. Constantine, N.T. Rider Hancock, Rev. Eugene Ryan C.P., Samuel G. O’Farrell, C.H. Sanford, David Methven, Samuel Johnston, J. Mohr Bell, Michael Hearne, Edward J. Byrne, Pedro A. Connor, Hugh Nelson, John O’Connor, David A. Gartland, Ing Jes Smith, J.M. Conelly, John Nelson, John F. Pearson, F. H. Mulally, R.M. Mr. Drysdale, in opening the proceedings said that he was glad to see such a large attendance of the principal merchants and bankers of this city and estancieros of the province. The immigrants were about to come, and the object of the meeting was to see how they could be best caried for. They should be well received and, if possible, those present would do everything in their power to encourage the English speaking immigrant, everybody would be willing to assist in this good work and provide employment for the new comers. Hale & Co., la sociedad anglo-parlante se reunión con el objeto de considerar el mejor curso para conseguire todas las ubicaciones posibles para los Irish Immigrants que estan por llegar en el Dresden. Fue el 12 de Febrero de 1889. Allí, el Sr. Eduardo Casey fue unanimemente votado como Presidente del Comité y el Sr. John Drysdale, vicepresidente. quien debido a la ausencia del Sr. Casey tomó la cabecera, el Sr. F. H. Mulhall, fue designado secretario. El Sr. Drysdale, en la apertura dijo que estaba contento al ver una gran convocatoria de los principales comerciantes y bancos de esa ciudad y estancieros de la provincia. Los inmigrantes estaban a punto de llegar y el objetivo de la reunión era determinar cuál sería la mejor manera de conducirlos. Deberían ser bien recibidos, y de ser posible, los presentes deberían hacer todo lo que estuviera a su alcance para encargarse de estos inmigrantes de habla inlgesa, todos deberían estar dispuestos a asistir en este buen trabajo y a proporcionar empleo para quienes estan viniendo..
