Here is an FAQ that should help bring Trekkers and/or Non-Leapers up-to-date on our revival efforts. 01. What is Quantum Leap? Quantum Leap is a television show that aired on NBC from March 1989 to May 1993. It was about a scientist named Dr. Sam Beckett who would inhabit other people's bodies in the past, make right something that had originally gone wrong, and then Leap on to his next destination in time. Admiral Al Calavicci was Sam's holographic "Observer", whom only Sam could see and hear (with a few exceptions). 02. Why do you want a Quantum Leap movie? The main idea of Quantum Leap was that Sam had no control over where he Leaped, and that if he were in charge, he'd Leap home. It was all about his "hoping that his next Leap... [would] be the Leap home." NBC cancelled the show before Donald Bellisario--the show's creator--had the chance to have Sam Leap home (permanently, that is). Donald Bellisario, Scott Bakula (who portrayed Sam Beckett), and Dean Stockwell (who portrayed Al Calavicci) have all stated over the years that they would love to do a Quantum Leap movie, so that Sam could Leap home. 03. Well, that's all fine and dandy, but how can I as a Trekker and/or Non-Leaper be of help to you? Dean Stockwell will be guest-starring on "Enterprise" on April 24. A fellow Leaper heard from an inside source that Universal will be gauging the reactions of the viewers very closely, to see if there would be enough people willing to watch Dean Stockwell and Scott Bakula reunited in a Quantum Leap movie. So, what we must do is make sure to watch "Detained", and then send letters to Universal letting them know how you felt about "Detained". 04. But what if I think "Detained" was awful? I believe a Trek BBS member by the name of Raziel said it the best: "Anyway. Let me say that it probably doesn't matter how stupid the writing is or what character flaws become necessary to facilitate their ending up in a detention centre. "What TPTB will be looking for, as far as a QL movie is concerned, is the dynamic between Dean Stockwell and Scott Bakula. If you want to make a positive contribution to the QL movie don't write in praising the episode. Write in, slag the episode and say that in spite of it, the chemistry and acting ability of DS and SB shined through. "To restate, IMHO the episode itself is largely irrelevant. It is the chemistry and the fan reaction to DS/SB scenes that TPTB will be looking for... "Be specific in your praise." HOWEVER!!! If you DID like the episode--ESPECIALLY Dean and Scott's chemistry onscreen--PLEASE let Universal know that! 05. What else should I put in my letter to Universal? Mainly, let them know that you would definitely watch any movie that would feature Scott and Dean together onscreen, especially a Quantum Leap movie. If you have seen any episodes of Quantum Leap, and liked them, let Universal know that. Plead with them on behalf of your Leaper friends to make a Quantum Leap movie, and with the ORIGINAL cast and creative crew--specifically Scott Bakula, Dean Stockwell, and Donald Bellisario. I hope this FAQ has helped you understand our purposes, and how you can help us in our efforts. If you have further questions, please send all inquiries and comments to: For addresses to Universal, please go to the ADDRESSES page. Thank
you for your time and help.
