Welcome to the
QT Brew Home Page!
An entire webpage selfishly dedicated to the semi-legendary
Damashi's
Quartermaster Brew
Actually, It's not a brew at all, but a rum cordial.  Damashi takes a coconut flavored rum and soaks fresh pineapple chunks in it until fermentation turns the whole mess into a super-sugary, extremly alchoholic pina-colada drink unlike any you've ever tasted.  It was first 'brewed' in AS XXXIV, and took a few tries to get the blend of pineapple vs spiced rum just right.  Now it's an extremly sought after drink in the Society.  It's traveled as far as Pennsic and gotten great reviews by anyone who's tried it.  The only way to get a taste of this amazing drink is to find Damashi at an event and hope he has his big bottle of it with him.  To get your own bottle, you'd have to first get your hands on a "QT Brew" coin.  Find something to trade for a coin, and then you can trade the coin in for a bottle.  The coins are minted every year, and in very limited numbers.  Below are a few examples of the coins.
AS 34: Steel coins about the size of a US quarter.  Very early coins do not have a date on the reverse.  Coins stamped with a rose have already been redeemed and are not valid for another bottle.
15 minted for circulation.
These coins were hand cut & lettered by Donal O' Brian on the front, and dated on the back by Damashi of Tora
AS 35-37: Brass coins about the size of a gold dubloon.  This design was used for three years, even though the date stamped (AS 35) didn't change as I was unable to get new ones struck.  Only 5 minted for circulation per year (15 total.)
These coins were first cut into dies, then pressed in bas-relief using a coin strike system.  Coin dies designed and cut by Conan MacPherson, who struck the coins as well.

OBVERSE:  A jawless skull over crossbones and a rose above it's head
(to mimic the old label, sans snakes) and "AS XXXV" below.
At Left: Damashi's original big bottle of QT Brew; the one he carries around to share with friends & strangers.  The 'Q-B' cork on top was hand painted by Damashi for that bottle.  The reverse side of the bottle has a woodcut of his ship, the La Villa A Broka. This bottle (which still sports the old label) can still sometimes be seen in addition to Damashi's two new "Big Blues": large blue wine bottles sporting the new label. (bottom left)
At Right: is the commemorative bottle you get to keep should you be lucky enough to get your hands on a QT Brew coin.  They are sealed with parafin wax, and stamped on top with a black wax 'fleur de lis' seal.  If for some reason you have managed to aquire one with a bronze fleur-de-lis seal you should consider yourself very lucky: the bottles stamped in that manner are from the very first gift batch, and I believe only two exist unopened.
1st Batch: Bronze; All others: Black

The two "Big Blue" bottles, now sporting the new label, were gifts to Damashi from Hagar the Blushing in AS XXXVII
AS 38 and on: AS 38 coins will be pewter cast, as opposed to pressed or stamped, so are much thicker and significantly heavier.  They are the size and shape of an escudo (piece of eight.)  This is the final design for the QT Brew coins, unless something drastic comes up.  I intend the design to recall the new label, much as the brass coins did.  Only coins cast in pewter wre redeemable for a bottle of brew.  Brass coins of this design are only given as favors.  Only 6 will be minted for circulation per year.
This coins were designed and carved by Damashi, and he will cast & polish them as well under the watchfull eye of Lord Malcom Alberic at his shop.
