The Story Behind the Hamsters

So you think you want to know the story behind my hamsters? Be warned, it is a tragic tale, full of tragedy and stuff. Eh, it's not too tragic. Here it goes.

Jude was the first hamster. I got him as a Christmas present (well, not actually on Christmas). My parents told me that I could get a hamster, because I'd kept asking for one. The reason I wanted a hamster was because I first wanted a rat, but my parents won't let me have a rat, so I've got a hamster instead. We got him a pet store, and we chose him because he was the nicest hamster at the store. The guy who helped us get him told us that he almost never bites, and this is true. Jude has never bitten anybody, and I doubt he will in the future. I named him Jude because of Hey Jude (which I was listening to on the way to the store). Jude is a teddy-bear hamster (meaning his fur is really long).

My sister loves little Jude, and still does, so naturally she wanted her own hamster. On her birthday, we went to the pet store and got one. She got a little teddy-bear hamster, which she named Fluffy. This name has become very appropriate for him, as he is the fluffiest hamster I have ever seen. In fact, at times, he is slightly mistakeable for a tribble. Also, when we got him, he was smaller than Jude (when we made the mistake of putting the two together, Jude bit Fluffy), but now he's a huge hamster. He's so huge he's actually heavy (for a hamster).

After that, I began wanting dwarf hamsters, and Mum and Dad finally took us to get some. I got two of them, which I named Ruby (like Ruby Tuesday) and Lola (like the Kinks song). However, after a while, we soon found out that Ruby was not actually a female hamster... So we took Lola back to the pet store and kept Ruby, who we named Roger. Roger got his name from Roger Taylor, of Queen (in a lot of the early pictures, he looks like a woman). However, when most people ask, I simply say I named him after the character from a rock opera I wrote.

Roger (Ruby) and Lola were the last hamsters we got, and I don't think we'll be getting any more (though I asked mum if we could get Roger a little friend). Thus begins the hamster saga.
