Position: Diplomatic Representative from Bajor Age at start of game: 22 Place of Birth: Jolanda, Bajor Species: Bajoran Height: 6 feet Weight: 115-135 lbs Languages: Cardassian and Klingon Interests: Cooking and sports Education: Chand doesn't have a real, formal educational background. She barely made it into the Starfleet Academy, and then struggled to do well enough to graduate. Service Record: 2376 - USS Masada Background: Chan was born on Bajor during the Cardassian occupation, to freedom fighters who are now dead. At an early age, she learned many survival skills, including first aid, camoflage, ho to live off the land and some shooting and knife skills. She carries knives hidden in the Klingon tradition and uses them in street fights and barroom brawls. She is a hothead but can (at times) overcome her anger. She has had little formal education, but is knowledgeable in areas of physics, chemistry and mathematics from her days as a freedom fighter. She became a freedom fighter at age 10 and was useful in the fight against the Cardassians because she was overlooked as being "only a kid". She learned how to speak Cardassian because of the occupation and used it in the underground. When the "Emissary" came to DS9 after the Cardassians left, Chan saw her chance to escape and continue fight. Since she had no real formal education, she barely passed the entrance exams to the Academy and struggled to graduate. Since she had used math skills in the underground, she chose engineering, but remained at the bottom 10% of her class at the Academy. She is very self-conscious about her "ignorance". While she was at the Academy, she broke her wrist in an accident and went to Sickbay to have it taken care of. Since her allergy to the osteogenerator was not known, she almost died when they used it on her. Her hatred of "blue suits", as she calls them, stems from that, as well as the fact that there weren't any doctors on Bajor during the occupation. Every year, the doctors at the Academy struggled to get her into Sickbay for a physical, and somehow every year Chan managed to get out of it, so incomplete medical records exist on her. Because of her unwillingness to get an ordered physical or psych evaluation, she left the fleet and returned to Bajor. She was assigned to Britannia as the Bajoran representative. Personality Profile: Chan is a left-handed person and has a mean left hook. She is a headstrong individual with a really bad temper. On the other hand she is a dedicated and determined individual who cares about those close to her. She is very religious and has the Mandala (traditional Bajoran shrine) in her quarters which are sparesly furnished. Because of the monotone colors of the Cardassians, her personal wardrobe consists of clothes in bright colors: kelly green, red and fuschia being her favorites. She rarely smiles, takes life seriously (too seriously most of the time) and refuses to participate in practical jokes. She is generally a friendly person, unless approached by a Cardassian or a Bajoran traitor. Likes: Cooking for friends when ever she can. Dislikes: Doctors, Sickbay, Cardassians, Borg and alcohol. Strengths: Survival skills. Weaknesses: Ignorance, hatred of doctors and Sickbays. Quirks: Chan is a workaholic and skips too many meals. She has a few friends but the few are really close. She does not like to be called by her first name unless permission is given first. Physical Profile: Short black hair and dark brown, (almost black when she's angry) eyes. Skills and Abilities: Chan, because of her time spent in the resistance, is good at making booby traps as well as figuring out how they are made. She has some knowledge of explosives, BUT, from time to time, either makes them too strong or not strong enough. Her hand-to-hand combat is pretty good, but she doesn't have the abilities to overcome a Klingon or a Vulcan in a fight (but that doesn't stop her from getting into a fight with them). Special Notes: Chan is allergic to the osteogenerator and must wear a plaster cast when she breaks a bone. Since she is accident prone, she breaks them often. She has a tendency to skip meals unless she eats with someone and is extremely malnourished at times. She would rather suffer in silence than to go to Sickbay ot have it taken care of, unless she can get over-the-counter remedies or good, old-fashioned Bajoran home remedies. |
