In the not-to-distant future, somewhere in time and space . . .  one of the MST3K theme songs Mystery Science Theater 3000: MST3K ran for ten years.  Re-runs can still be seen on the Sci-Fi channel.  It's a simple show, featuring our heros:  one man (Joel originally, later Mike Nelson) out in space aboard the Satilite of Love with four robots.

The bad guys changed over the years but were mainly "the Mads" (as in Mad Scientists) who sent Joel/Mike the worst movies they could find in an attempt to drive him crazy.  The robots (orginally constructed by Joel) helped the poor human man out.  Gyspy, the only girl robot, ran the ship,

Cambot recorded everything and Tom Servo and Crow watched the films with Joel/Mike and made wise-cracks, amusing each other and viewers.  MST3K has a large cult following.  I love this show.

"Love, love changes everything.  Hands and faces, earth and sky . . .   -Aspects of Love Michael Ball: Michael Ball is a British singer/actor with an amazing voice.  He was the orginal Marius in "Les Miserables", as well as the first Alex in "Aspects of Love".  He also preformed as Raul in "Phantom of the Opera" and is currently playing the father in "Chiity Chitty Bang Bang" on West End.  I have two of Michael's cds, "Centre Stage" and "Michael Ball: The Musicals."

He can also be seen on video on the "Les Miserables" 10th Anniversary Concert video, as well as in the Andrew Lloyd Webber Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.   His voice is beautiful, his acting is flawless.  And he has great dimples.  Hurrah for Michael!

"Several hard-core Star Wars fans who had tickets for the first showing actually said that when the movie finally began, they started crying. Mainly because they realized that it's 22 years later, and they still haven't lost their virginity." -Conan O'Brien Conan O'Brien, god of Late Nite: Conan O'Brien hosts 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien" on NBC, the cream of the late nite crop.  Conan has red hair, freckles and the infamous "rowl". He's smart (went to Harvard), funny (wrote for SNL and the Simpsons) and far less grating than Jay Leno.  So why the hell does Leno get the better time slot?  Conan lost his side-kick, Andy Richter (who now has his own FOX sitcom) but gets along just fine without him, as much as we all miss Andy.  Tune in and watch the antics of the Great Conan, the sly Max, and the charming Insult Comic Dog.

Aussie preformer who has played Enjolras in "Les Miserables", Archibald Craven in "The Secret Garden" the Phantom in "Phantom of the Opera" and numerous other roles.  He has the voice of an angel and is worth checking out if you appreciate a good vocalist.

"Moonlight, turn your face to the moonligh.  Let your memory lead you.  Open up, enter in . . ." - "Moments of Happiness" I love the moon because it's pretty, and with the moon comes the night, which I love because I love to sleep.  The moon has a lovely silver light that illuminates but doesn't bake your skin.  Hurrah for the moon.  Or Luna, if you want to get techincal.

"You're just a six piece of chicken Mc-Nothing!" -Space Ghost, to Birdman Space Ghost: Coast to Coast- Talk Show How do I explain SG: C2C?  Back in the 60's, Space Ghost was a Saturday morning cartoon.  SG ran around fighting evil with two young twins named Jan and Jace and a monkey, Blip.  Some of the evil he fought was Brak, Zorak and Moltar.  Well, in the 90's, Space Ghost was sitting on his duff, watching TV when he noticed that there was a talk show war!  He wanted a piece of the action, so with Jan and Jace off to a community college, he had lots of time to do get some.    Space Ghost (who's real name is Tad Ghostal) is often visted by his evil twin Chad (who has a goatee, that's how you tell them apart) and runs his talk show with the imprisoned Zorak, leader of the band the Original Way Outs.  Moltar is the director, and Brak . . . is just around.  SG has human guests, and the whole show is strange and amusing.  Check it out on Cartoon Network.

One Ring to Rule them all, one ring to find them.  One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness, bind them. --LotR Lord of the Rings- Books and films All right, I admit it.  I'm a big fat Tolkien-loving nerd.  But damn it, it's a good story!  I tried to read The Hobbit like, eight times, and always got bored.  My kid sister became obsessed with the movie and we bought The Fellowship on DVD, and she watched all the time.  And I mean all the time.  If she was awake, she was watching it.  I saw bits and peices of it until I finally got interested.  I gave the book a go and pretty much just flew through it.  Obession began to take hold.  Kelsey (the kid sister) and I saw the second movie and I cried.  Twice.  I am such a loser.   If you've been living under a rock and haven't seen the first movie, find a friend who owns it (and I promise, you have one) and watch it.  And isn't Aragron a fox?

Batman- Superhero     No, I'm not really a comic book freak (although I think I would have been if I had gotten started at a young age) But I like superheros and I like Batman best of all.  Why's that?  Because he's so tortured (ask Frodo fans about the apeal of that) and because, when compared to other superheros, he pretty normal.  He's not from another planet, didn't have some kind of run-in with nuclear waste, he's just a regular guy.  He relies on his own strength and mental prowess to get the job done. Plus the batmobile is so fricken sweet.    Besides the comics, Batman has had his own cartoon (along with Robin, Boy Wonder), live action TV show (Again with Robin, starring Adam West and Burt Ward-Holy 60's Batman!), several animated movies and four live action films with Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney playing Bruce Wayne and his alter-ego.  Too bad the fourth movie sucked.  And it looks like a new movie might be in the works.  Come back to the suit, Michael!

Beauty and the Beast- Broadway musical Okay, so I'm a sucker for a love story.  I saw this on Broadway my first time in New York and adored it.  Belle's such a fun heroine,  the music's so great, the sets are spectacular, and Gaston fricken rules! Okay, okay, I have a thing for bad guys.  I can't help it.  Gaston is just

so funny!  I mean, with lyrics like "I can see that we will share all that love implies/ we shall be the perfect pair/rather like my thighs!" And he's so deliciously wicked!  Bad guys are the coolest.  Don't even get me going on Orin Scrivello, DDS from Little Shop of Horrors.  Bwah ha ha.  But about the show, it's really a great little piece of theatre.  It made me gleeful.  Isn't that nerdy?
