Sylvanus "Seymore" VAN BUSKIRK was born in Bowling Green Township, in Marion Co., OH., to John B. VAN BUSKIRK and Eliza Jane JOHNSON on October 6, 1869. Although, his death certificate states he was born 1868 in Bowling Green, OH, and his marriage license states he was born in Perrysburg, OH, ,the Civil War pension file of his father, John B. Van Buskirk, and Seymore's birth registration record from Marion Co., OH., courthouse, reveal he was actually born in 1869 in Bowling Green township, Marion Co., OH. He died at Mercy Hospital, in Toledo, Lucas Co., OH, on June 10, 1924 at 1:30 p.m., following an operation which was performed on his right lower and middle lober of his lung. He may have had tuberculosis or lung cancer. His death certificate states his funeral service was conducted by A.C. Walters & Sons, Toledo, OH; however, he was buried in Bowling Green, Wood Co., OH., on June 14, 1924. Seymore married Ada D. CECIL on August 19, 1892, in Paulding Co., OH. They had three boys and one girl:

After 1900, Seymore and Ada divorced and both remarried. Seymore married Olive (Bump) Lawrence, widow of William Lawrence March 11, 1918 in Toledo, Lucas County, OH. Olive was born November 11, 1869 in Napoleon, Henry County, OH to Peter Bump and Catherine Green. Ada married Orvil J. Massie. Orvil was from Missouri.
