What Is It?
This is the story of the 1930's golf legend Bobby Jones. It's a movie about him playing golf.
How Was It?
For anyone who has seen Adam Sandler's "Happy Gilmore" (that should cut the audience in half) and liked it (cutting down a little more) but thought, "This would be great if it was a 1930's melodrama" (echo echo echo)…for that ONE person... THIS is the movie for you!
For everyone else, I know a lot of people like golf but, it’s boring to watch and a movie about it, with characters you don’t care about... not fun
Is It Good For Kids?
Bobby supposedly has a heart of gold, but he has a bad bad temper. He cusses a lot and throws things. He stops his tantrums only because they threaten to kick him off the golf tour. This doesn’t result in him becoming a better person, but does cause him a bunch of medical problems from "holding it all in," so he drinks, a lot.
He does press on toward his goals, but he does so obsessively, not because of any true passion for them.
This is not the kind of guy you want your kids to emulate.

How about Spiritual Issues?
Bobby’s grandfather is a Christian, but his faith results only in a set of simple, legalistic rules (the big one being that you should not play golf on the Sabbath). To make it even more pathetic, this "moral" is thrown out the window once he realizes that his grandson is just a super golf player.
Furthermore, it is ironic that this film has been marketed toward Christians. The tag line is, "His passion made him a legend" in an attempt to tie this film to Jim Caviezel's last role as "Jesus" for Mel. There were also a lot of Christian movie people involved. Still the only glimpse of Christianity is merely as a list of unrealistic world rules that you have to "get over".
What Is Your Recommendation?
It's dumb, boring, and insulting to Christians..... take a nap instead!
