Looking into the minds of Ranma 1/2 anime characters

These are just random thoughts about the some of the main characters in Ranma 1/2 that I threw together one weekend. Most of my friends don't know much, if anything, about the series so I thought, what the heck, this might help a little. Some comments are straight facts, others are just what I believe. So remember, you may not agree in some of the following statements but if you'd like to argue the point with me, you're gonna have to send an e-mail! Also, please excuse my spelling mistakes. I'll fix them when I get a moment (this means there gonna stay the way they're spelled. ^_^)

• Cocky, immature
• Overall he's kind, would never intentional hurt someone. If someone's in trouble he'll help.
• Been traveling for most of his life. I think he prefers the stability he has now being at the Tendo's. This may be a reason why he doesn't want to choose a fiancee. He doesn't want to hurt anyone and lose them as AT LEAST a friend.
• Hates his curse. He wants to be manly, a lot because his mother wants him to be (his father Genma and mother made some deal that Genma would produce a manly son or else both he and Ranma would be forced to commit suicide, one of the reasons why he hid from his mother for so long) and partly because he IS a man with pride, and turning into a woman doesn't help the image. He is growing used to it though. Doesn't bother him as much and knows ways of using his curse to turn to his advantage.
• If (when) the decision must be made, he would choose Akane to marry over the other girls for one simple reason. He. Loves. Her. They may argue but that's how Ranma grew up. His father would taunt him, in a strange form of affection, and Ranma would return the favor. I don't think he realizes that by calling each other names they're hurting each other and deep down I believe it DOES hurt..sometimes.
• Also his father, while on their training journey, neglected to teach him any social skills so Ranma is at a loss when feeling something. He doesn't know what it is or how to deal with it. He knows anger and he knows happiness. The rest is a little fuzzy. Another fiancee problem.
• Cats. Yes, the boy, due to some stupid training that was suppose to be a joke, is deathly afraid of cats. If he gets too scared his mind over loads and he becomes one with the felines. There are several theories as to WHY and in my story, well you'll just have to wait and see. He seems to be protective of Akane in that state and can be brought out of it usually with a gender change. Seems to not remember anything when he wakes up as well. In any case, he becomes extremely powerful and can slash through just about anything.
• Considers Ukyou and Ryoga as good friends in a strange way but never admits it. Its more like that's how he automatically acts so why acknowledge it. The problem lies in how they see him and treat him. I think if he did acknowledge the fact it would help him deal with his feelings.
• Competitive as hell. You challenge him, he will try to win.
• Martial arts is life.

• She can be sweet and kind but has too much anger to be so all the time. Part of this is caused by pride and the rest is just plain spirit. Akane is life.
• Proud. Sometimes gets her hurt. She believes she can get as good as Ranma but there's no way possible, martial arts was his life for 10 years, that's kind of hard to top. I believe she has potential and would give him a run for his money if trained properly.
• Has this wicked mallet technique that seems to be chi related. Uses on Ranma when he becomes too much of a jerk. Sometimes she gets a little mallet happy. *SLAM!*
• Also very competitive, almost as much as Ranma.
• Loves Ranma. This is a definite. She however also denies her feelings mainly because she believes Ranma doesn't feel the same about her. Plus hes an insensitive jerk who tags along several women at one time so why would she care about him? Earlier dealings with boys helped lead to her denial and because her father gives her such a hard time about the marriage thing. You know, when you're being forced to do something you're not sure about you fight against it. I think her mother's death may also play into the denial. She afraid of losing someone she loves.
• I think the name calling might start giving Akane the feeling that Ranma's uncute comment may be true. That's why it tends to strike home so often. That and she really does care what he thinks.
• Ryoga is just a good friend who she cares about because he took care of her a couple of times. Not interested in romance with him.
• Cannot cook. She is too emotional when in the kitchen and this causes her food to SUCK. If someone would have the patience with her she could probably get almost as good as Kasumi. (hmmm...maybe Nodoka(?))
• Ukyou is a friend, Shampoo is too in a strange way. She doesn't like the fact that they hang off Ranma (who she blames when the girls do hang off him) but if in trouble she would trust them to help.

• One of the most friendly people person you could meet. But enough back bone not to take shit.
• Loves Ranma. Or think she does, not sure which yet. Will compete for his love. Pretty sure that she is his choice so not too worried about the competition....well, maybe a little about Akane.
• Has this freakin huge spatula that she uses for a weapon. *squish* And some bladed mini ones to go with it.
• Runs a restaurant, usually with the help of another (Konatsu?) Speciality of the house, Okanamiyaki(?)
• Uses the words - sugar, honey, hussy, jackass
• Traveled around for 10 years to settle the score with Ranma when his father and he ran out on her after Genma promised to get the two married. (Genma asked Ranma, who was five years old, whether he like Ukyou or Okanamiyaki better..guess what the little hungry kid picked?) Like Shampoo first she tried to kill him then she loved him.

• Hiya. Talks in cute high voice with broken sentences.
• Fierce warrior. She has a lot of pride behind it.
• Ranma defeated her in battle so now she is required by her laws to marry him. She thinks she loves him because of his strength. I believe she doesn't really love him, its more of you want what you can't have. Plus to get such a catch would greatly please her ancestors.
• Great-granddaughter of Cologne. Will follow her orders because she respects her great grandmother a lot.
• Talented in riding a bicycle while carrying take out and still do neat tricks, like ride on a fence or slam a tire into Ranma's face while maintaining her balance.
• Incredible strength. Bonbori is weapon of choice.
• Cursed to change into a cute cat. Causes problems for Ranma. *AAAHHHH!! Get away from me!!*
• Thinks of Mousse as an annoying friend. If she opened her mind to other possibilities, beyond Ranma, she may consider Mousse as candidate for a husband. Maybe.
• Very affectionate with Ranma. Too bad he doesn't want it. I think she gets a little pleasure at seeing him sweat out an uncomfortable situation.
• Though Akane and Ukyou are competition, she would never seriously hurt them. Or at least anything permenant.

• The eternally lost boy. Couldn't find his way outta of a space between two doors. Like Akane, he lets his emotions control him too much and he ends up getting lost.
• Loves Akane. I think he really does love her. Unfortunately, whenever he gets the guts to tell her so or at least ask her out, something happens. Usually a jealous Ranma.
• Cursed as a little black piglet. Akane's pet. This is how Ryoga fell in love with her because he saw the side Ranma always misses. The kind, cute girlie side she keeps so hidden. However, the little hentai hasn't told Akane that he's her pet and made a stupid promise with Ranma so that Ranma can't tell Akane or anyone about the curse. This drives Ranma nuts. But Ranma usually dishes it back by teasing with words such as 'pig-boy' and 'bacon breath'.
• Super strength. Can take a hell of a lot of punishment and still keep going. Has a heavy umbrella thats like a buzz saw and multiple sharp bandannas as weapons. A neat depression blast too - Shi Shi Hokodan. Apparently he gets easily depressed. Must be because he travels alone so much. No friends, doesn't see his family often.
• Another martial artist that will help those in trouble.
• Ranma is the enemy but Ryoga would never really seriously hurt him. Maybe beat him up a little but never deadly fighting. Another strange friend relationship.
• I know that in the manga he meets Akari which is suppose to take the place of Akane but I don't know much about her. From what I can piece together, Akari raises sumo pigs. Ryoga defeated her prized pet and she fell in love with him. I think she also knows about his curse and finds it 'cute'.

• Oldest Tendo sister who seems so clueless at times I think shes one of the few people in the story who actually watches what the heck is going on and doesn't panic/cry/get angry/shoot of her mouth.
• Very motherly like figure but I don't ever really see her comforting. Just cleaning and cooking. All the Tendo sisters seem to lack emotions. Or show excessive.
• Is NEVER surprised by ANYTHING.
• Oh my
• I believe she really is happy just doing house work. There's some satisfaction she gets out of it that she didn't find in school. Like a good days hard work. Plus she's good at it.
• Interested in Dr. Tofu. Though it could just be unrequited love. (I hope not.) I think overall they would make a good couple.

• The financial rock of the Tendo family. Middle sister.
• Yes, she's calculating and sometimes down right cold but that's the way you have to be to get money. Show too much emotion and people can find your weakness. She does most of it to keep her family afloat but some of it is to irritate Ranma. For some reason this is very entertaining.
• On occasion she crosses the line, but I think she makes up for it later, even if you don't realize it.
• She would like Kuno if he would just show up in reality once in a while. And it wouldn't be for the money either, though its a nice added bonus.
• Would do a lot for her family because she does love them. The money swindling bitch attitude that surfaces when dealing with them is show and if asked, truly, meaningfully, she would do anything at no charge. Unfortunately she has an image to keep.
• A lot of people do owe her money or a favor including Ranma.
• When her mother died Nabiki got lost in the shuffle of family rearrangement. Kasumi became like a mother and Akane the little girl who needed to be looked out for while Soun just zoned out having a hard time noticing anything around him leaving Nabiki to her own devices. After a couple of bad bills Nabiki began to take the money maker role and locked up her feelings because they were useless in such dealings.

• I think his middle name is baka. Father of Ranma.
• Engaged his son to hundreds of females for food. Or something else.
• Talk about thinking for only yourself. I'll never understand how he got a nice woman like Nodoka to marry him. Maybe it was a shot gun wedding. That or he was offered food at the reception.
• Cursed to change into a Panda. Uses this A LOT to his advantage when he doesn't want to answer something or to hide from someone.
• He's the reason he and his son is cursed because he made him train at the cursed grounds.
• He's the type of person that you want to smack around because he's a cowardly idiot but at the same time his manner disgusts you so much that you don't think it's worth your time nor the cleanliness of your hand.
• Tends to come up with these stupid plans.
• Fights with Ranma all the time (usually for food instead of sparring).
• Some where inside I believe there is a man who has honor and courage. For some reason he lost it. Hmmm...maybe being on his own away from most civilized people for so long he lost his way?

• Father of the Tendo sisters.
• Crybaby. Definitely emotional unstable when it comes to his daughters.
• His wife died many years ago. He loved her very much and her death was extremely hard on him.
• Plays Shogi(japanese chess) with Genma all day.
• Wants Akane and Ranma to marry because he feels would please his wife who was good friends with Ranmas mother. So he goes along with Genma's dumb plans.
• He's friends with Genma because of their past experiences with Happosai. You know, war buddies.

• Shampoo's great Grandmother.
• Mysterious. She's lived a long life and knows much that most people shouldn't.
• Extremely powerful. For someone as old as dirt she can still hop around on a cane like a pogo all day long.
• She's allowing Shampoo to try for Ranma because he would be a good member for the tribe and because of the laws. The potions and what nots she gives Shampoo would never hurt anyone (or so she believes, physically) and some of the stuff Cologne has done to Ranma was merely for training. She knew he would eventually figure out how to win.

• Pervert extrodinare. For an old man he sure thinks a lot about the opposite sex. Uses Ranmas curse to get a good feel. *ICK*
• Master in Anything Goes Martial Arts
• Selfish, self centered. He will do a lot to make sure he gets what he wants, maybe even beat up on Ranma. But he has limits. I think he may beat up on Ranma so much because a.) Ranma stops him from doing things he wants to do and b.) Ranma is the next in line to become master so he's testing the boy continuously. In his own way.
• Helps when needed sometimes. Usually when he gets something outta the deal.
• Tends to dabble in magic items that are better left alone. Too bad curiosity hasn't killed his cat yet.
• Uses these little bombs with big bang. Happosai darikin or something or other. Need to look that one up.

• Blind (almost) Chinese amazon boy with a warrior's heart but not much on smarts at times...though he does speak excellent Japanese.
• Worships Shampoo. This is why he's always attacking Ranma. He's trying to win Shampoo back, though he never had her in the first place.
• Cursed to change into a duck. Though when transformed he still keeps his glasses.
• Wears a white robe which allows him to hide weapons, bombs, and anything smaller than a semi-truck in the sleeves. Likes to use chained weapons a lot.

• Delusional. First name Tatewaki.
• Bad poetry. Or pretty speech. Like Shakespearian.
• Uses a wooden sword to beat his enemies. A rapid fire of sword swips.
• Pays Nabiki lots of money for pictures and info on his pig-tailed goddess (AKA Ranma) and his tigress beauty (AKA Akane). Doesn't realize Ranma is actually the pigtailed goddess and through his unmedicated mind came up with a plausible story of enchantment placed on the pigtailed goddess by Ranma as the reason he can't get a date with her.
• Ranma and Akane continuously beat the crap out of him when he spouts his poetry and what not and he still doesn't get it.
• Heck if Kuno would just take some meds or listen to what people are telling him, he could be cute.
• Says he hates Nabiki. Quote "I loath you." But I think he sort of enjoys the little mind games and money schemes that Nabiki comes up with.

• Can we say psycho chick?
• Hohohohohohohoho
• Sister of Kuno.
• Martial Arts Rhythm Gymnastics champ. Uses a ribbon (usually), clubs, balls and what-nots to fight.
• Ranma-sama. Considers Ranma her fiancee. Ranma does not.
• Uses a lot of poisons and sleeping gas in fights and when trying to capture the love of her life.
