"Well, I guess we don't have much of a choice but to set up some type of camp and rest. It's going to be dark in a few hours and our radio was short-circuited during the storm. So, tomorrow morning, we'll try to figure out how to get get ourselves off this island," Mr. Tsukino announced. "He's right. There's not much we can do," Andrew said. He reached out to hold his wife's hand. She squeezed his hand and smiled warmly. So they all set off in the lush jungle to try to find a place suitable enough for them to establish a camp. Sweet scents of tropical flowers hung in the air as beautifully plumaged birds flew from tree-top to tree-top. Serena gazed in awe at her magnificent surroundings, trailing along behind everyone else. She grinned as she contemplated how wonderful it would be to live the rest of her life here. Suddenly, her sight was blocked off by a very lovely flower. It resembled a rose, but more exotic somehow...hues of purple and red. She looked past the flower, bewildered as to how it got there. Standing there, with his hand outstretched to her face, the flower clutched in his hand, was none other than Darien. "This flower's for you Serena. It's beauty is breathtaking but not as breathtaking as yours. I wonder how it's possible that someone like you can actually exist. Your beauty is angelic," he said softly, his eyes probing hers. Serena just stood there and gawked at him. She could already feel heat flooding her cheeks. She took the flower and held it gently. "Uh...um. I mean...that is. Thank you Darien. I've...no one's ever said something like that to me before," she finished weakly. She could feel her head spinning and her heart rate had just hit the roof. "Is that so? Well, I'm glad I'm the first to have told you so. In fact, I hope for a lot more...," Darien trailed off. With that, he turned around and caught up to the rest of the group, already a fair distance ahead. Serena just stared at his retreating figure. I've never felt this way before. Does he actually like me? Me? Serena Tsukino? But if he likes me then why doesn't he say it? It's not like he has any trouble saying anything else. Darien's a nice guy...he couldn't possibly be playing me for a fool right? No...that's not it. Maybe he's just acting this way because I'm the like the only other girl on this island with him besides Molly and she's apparently head-over-heels for Melvin. She shook her head and just kept walking, emotions crashing inside her heart. Serena finally caught up to the group and noticed that they'd already stop in a clearing. Sounds of a waterfall echoed in the not-so-far distance. She could see her father issuing out several different directions on how they'd set up camp. *********************************************************************** Many hours later... *********************************************************************** A group of exhausted people lay underneath the moonlight, their bodies aching from the workout of setting up camp. And what a camp it was. Molly, Melvin, Andrew, and Rita had all been the final decision as to just what their camp would look like. They had prepared a few neatly made huts with large palm leaves interwoven to make the roofs. All in all, they were all quite proud of themselves. "Okay, how about we all clean up and then turn in. I'm hungry, but I'm too tired to eat," Mr. Tsukino said. He stretched his arms and yawned. They all agreed to take turns to bathe in the waterfall. Serena lounged on the soft grass and lied down. She propped her head up on her hands and gazed at the countless numbers of stars happily twinkling in the sky above her. She started humming a tune and closed her eyes for a moment. She suddenly felt the fine hairs on her neck prickling and could have sworn that someone was very close to her. She opened her eyes and noticed that Darien was quietly sitting next to her. His dark sapphire eyes glittered with some unknown emotion she couldn't put her finger on. "I think most everyone is done with the waterfall, would you like me to assist you down there?" he asked, a wicked grin spreading over his face. "Baka! Ecchi!" she yelled out in anger, her own blue eyes darkening. She strode away from him in measured and angry steps. "And...if you try to follow me and spy on me...or something, I will personally see that you don't live to see tomorrow," she said dangerously. Serena then ran off down the trail that led down to the waterfall. "Hahahahaha!" Darien was laughing so hard that his sides were aching. Oh, I got her pretty flustered. But darn, she's gorgeous when she gets angry. Her cheeks flush and turn red and her eyes just sparkle, then those lips...Ha! I'll get you yet Serena Tsukino! The refreshing waters of the fall embraced Serena in its icy embrace. She shivered but sighed. She relished the feel of cold water cleansing her body. Her long golden hair hung straight down her back, having been freed from its confine. Serena then slowly got out of the chilly pool of water and sat herself upon a large stone jutting out above the pool. She squeezed any excess hair out of her water and brushed it out. Serena then got behind some trees and put on a short but modest nightgown and tied a bathrobe around her. She slipped into her pink bunny slippers and lazily walked back to camp. Darien was leaning against a tree, submerged in thoughts of a certain someone. When he glanced back up, his mouth dropped open and he slipped and fell flat on his face. He dizzily raised his head off the ground, only to rest eyes on a pair of bunny slippers. His gaze traveled up a pair of very nice long legs to finally rest on Serena's mocking expression. She smirked, her eyes glowing with amusement. "What's wrong Dar? Surprised to see the real me?" she said sarcastically, turning around and disappearing into her hut. Dumbfounded, Darien gathered up the any remaing scraps of dignity he had left and stood there, staring intently at the entrance to her hut. Dear heavens, he thought. She looked like an absolute goddess. He remembered having looked up to see a girl that was Serena, but couldn't have been Serena, but it had been Serena. She had taken her hair down from her buns so that her hair had been trailing loosely down her back. She had looked positively radiant. Darien smiled dreamily. Entertaining those sweet thoughts, Darien left to go take his bath. Sleep was slowly snagging Serena as she swung in her hammock. She could feel a slight breeze blow through the entrance to her hut. It was quaint but cozy. Serena curled up into a little ball and closed her eyes. The last thing she could remember thinking of before she finally fell fast asleep was Darien handing her the flower.
