Meet me by the seashore:
CHAPTER 1
The Arrangement
The sun was shining bright as the day had just began, Darien, 24 years old, woke up as the sunlight peeked into his bedroom. With a smile on his face, he couldn’t wait to see his sweetheart Serena, who was 3 years younger than him. Darien figured she might not be up yet, so he would take his time in getting to Serena’s house.
Walking down the streets of Tokyo, Darien spotted his good friend Chad. He walked over to Chad who was looking quite confused as he gazed into the jewelry shop.
“Hey Chad, how’s it going?”
“Hey Dare. Man, do you know what I could get Raye for an anniversary present? I’m totally confused on this stuff,” said Chad. Darien thought for a minute.
“Well, how long have you been together?”
“8 months tomorrow. Raye’s been wanting something from this shop, but I’m kinda low on cash, since I just bought a new guitar and I dunno what else to get her.”
“Why don’t you take her somewhere special? Maybe stay the week,” suggested Darien. Chad grinned.
“That sounds awesome man. But uh, where’s some place special that would make Raye love me even more?”
“Doesn’t Raye like the ocean? It’s only like an hour or so from here, and you have your own beach house.”
“DUDE! I forgot about the beach house.” Chad was extremely excited. “Why don’t you and Serena join us? I mean, I might need your help while I’m there. And besides, you and Serena can have some time to yourselves.”
“Chad, its you and Raye’s weekend, you don’t need Serena and me with you guys.”
“Nonsense, I insist.”
“At least ask Raye, then if its ok, we’ll come.”
“ALRIGHT! Gotta go tell Raye now. See ya later, man!”
Chad left happily to go tell Raye the good news. Darien didn’t really want to go with Raye and Chad since it WAS their anniversary, but he couldn’t resist some time with Serena at the ocean. Darien remembered the last time he took Serena to the beach, which was for her 21st birthday last month. A crab chased her down the shoreline, she buried him in the sand, and they had the most romantic walk down the beach under the stars. He smiled. ‘I haven’t been able to spend as much time with Serena as I want to, I know she’d love to go to the ocean. Besides, our friends will be there. I’d be helping Chad with Raye and helping myself with Serena.’
Darien rang the doorbell, Serena’s mother answered.
“Good morning Darien, it’s good to see you up early this morning.”
“Thanks. Is Serena up yet?”
“Hold on, I’ll go check.” Serena’s mom went up to see if her daughter had woken up yet. Serena came down the steps.
“Hiya.” Serena smiled.
“Hey cutie. I didn’t think you’d be up early,” teased Darien.
“I can get up early just the same as you, thank you very much. What are you doing here so early anyway?”
“Just wanted to see my princess and ask if she by chance would like to spend the day with me. Is that ok?”
Serena smiled, “Of course”. She kissed Darien’s cheek. “Hey Dare, do you mind if I stop by Raye’s temple?”
“It’s fine by me.”
So Darien and Serena left to go to Raye’s temple. They held hands tightly so as to never lose each other. Serena loved Darien with all of her heart; they'd had their share of problems, but what couple doesn't?
They soon arrived at Cherry Hill Temple where Raye lived with her grandfather and where Chad stayed. Walking up the steps Serena saw Chad talking to Raye and she had the hugest smile on her face. Raye spotted Serena and Darien and ran over to them. Raye hugged Serena.
Serena gave Raye a blank stare, it's not often Raye shows such affection toward her. Serena knew something big was up with Raye.
"Calm down Raye, what is it?" asked Serena.
"Chad's taking me to the beach for a whole week! I'm so excited, we're leaving tomorrow!" Raye exclaimed with joy.
"That's great. You guys are going to have a blast together,” said Serena wishing Darien would surprise her with a weeklong trip. Raye looked a little confused.
"Hey Meatball head, you and your lover boy are coming with us. Didn't Darien tell you?!"
Serena glared at Darien. He was so excited about seeing her, he totally forget to mention that they would be spending a week together at the beach. Darien put his arm around Serena.
"I thought I'd surprise you Serena," said Darien trying to cover up the fact he hadn't told her yet.
"Well, you sure did surprise me!" Serena smiled happily. "Raye, want me to help you pack?"
"Sure, c'mon. The guys can talk amongst themselves for a while." Raye giggled.
Raye headed to her temple with Serena following close behind. It wasn't often that Raye and Serena spent much time together. Whenever they spent long periods of time together they always wound up fighting over something. Hopefully they wouldn't fight this time. Raye started to pack while Serena sat on the bed.
"Serena, you're not helping me out by sitting on the bed!" Serena made her little vicious cat noise while Raye just rolled her eyes. Serena got up and looked into Raye's closet. Raye had such nice outfits to wear. Serena picked out the dress she helped Raye buy. It was a deep red with black embroidery around the edges; it had little spaghetti straps. The dress made Raye look even more beautiful than she already was. Serena felt a little jealousy creep up.
"Why the red face Meatball head?"
"Oh, just thinking of how pretty you look in this dress. Chad would love it if you wore it!" Raye blushed at Serena's comment.
"Well, Serena, if there's a dress you'd like to wear feel free to borrow it. I'm sure Darien would love to see you in something nice for a change." Raye began to search through the closet. "How about this one?"
It was a light blue dress that was long and had a split on the side that went up to midtheigh. It fit nicely on Raye, and helped define her curves even more. So, why couldn't it do the same for Serena? Raye motioned for Serena to try the dress on. Serena stepped out of the bathroom. The dress fit Serena just as it had Raye. It outlined every curve on her body and made her Blue eyes stand out even more radiantly. Raye's mouth dropped.
"That looks beautiful on you Serena. Darien is sure to love it." Serena blushed.
"Thanks Raye. I promise to not get anything on it." Serena said smiling.
"No prob, thank me later after Darien's seen you in it." Raye giggled.
The girls finished packing Raye's things and decided to check up on the guys. They sure were quiet outside. Serena looked around for Darien and Chad, but they were no where in site. "Where did they run off to?" asked Raye as she put her hands on her hips. Behind the girls stood the guys who were on the verge of trying to scare them. "BOO!" said the guys as they jumped out and grabbed the girls' waists. Raye hit Chad in the stomach.
"God Chad! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?!"
"Oh no, nothing like that Raye." said Chad. He put his arm around Raye. "Just wanted to make a grand entrance." Chad kissed Raye's cheek.
Darien laughed at Serena who was still breathing hard. *DROP* 'Sometimes he acts like such a big kid! Geez, I dunno why I love this guy. OK, maybe I do know why.' Serena said to herself. She hugged Darien tightly, he wrapped his arms around her body. Darien leaned down and kissed her forehead.
"I love you, Serena."
"I love you too, Darien."
"Awww- how sweet!" said Raye who was overwhelmed with all this romance.
Darien undid his arms and just put his arm around Serena's shoulders. It was almost noon and Darien wanted to take Serena out for a little picnic in the park so the friends said goodbye until tomorrow at 8 am, when they would meet back at the temple and be on their way to the beach!
Darien and Serena stopped by Darien's apartment and picked up the picnic basket and off they were to the park. Darien picked a spot close to the lake, but under the nice shade of an oak tree. Serena placed the blanket down on the ground and got out the food. Darien laid down on the blanket while Serena finished her delicious grill cheese sandwich. Serena noticed some strawberries left, she picked them up and leaned over Darien.
"Open up” She said as she began to feed Darien strawberries.
"Yummy. Feed me more!" chuckled Darien.
Serena giggled as she fed Darien more strawberries. Someday he would have to do this to her. On the last strawberry Darien nibbled on the end of Serena's fingers. She giggled and laid down beside of Darien. Serena closed her eyes and tried to remember when she didn't have Darien. Darien rolled over basically onto of Serena. She quickly opened her eyes when he started to kiss her. 'Ah, I'm so lucky to have this guy, especially this guy whose kisses are superb!' Serena didn't want to stop kissing, but Darien couldn't go much longer without a breath of fresh air. He rolled back over onto his back as Serena propped her head on her hand. She smiled at the tall, dark haired, blue eyed guy she adored so much. Serena snuggled up beside of Darien and both fell asleep in each other's arms under the oak tree.
"Serena, wake up, it's almost dark." said Darien as he kissed her forehead.
"Five more minutes," said Serena reaching for Darien's arms as he sat up.
"My sweet Meatball head, don't worry, we'll have plenty of time to spend together this week."
Serena and Darien packed up their picnic and proceeded to head home. It was dark when they got to Serena's house. They stood on the porch together, locked together in a warm embrace.
"Goodnight princess, see you in the morning. I'll be here around 7:30 to pick you up."
"Goodnight my valiant prince. So kiss me, my sweet, and so let us part. And when I grow too old to dream, that kiss will live in my heart." said Serena quoting one of her many quotes. Darien passionately kissed Serena goodnight and headed home.
Tomorrow would be the start of a grand adventure for the four friends. Whatever will happen would certainly become a memory that would never be forgotten.
Meet me by the seashore:
CHAPTER 2
The Journey Begins
Day 1
Darien arrived at Serena's promptly on time. She never knew how he could always be on time when she had problems being inexcusably late. She sighed as she carried down her bags to the living room. Serena and Darien said goodbye to her parents and little brother Sammy. Darien put Serena's bags into the trunk of his cherry red Porsche.
"Ready to go?" asked Darien.
"Uh-huh. I'm so excited!" exclaimed Serena.
"Well, hurry up and get in so we can go, Meatball head." Darien opened Serena's door and helped her in.
"Thank you Mr. Door man. Shall I tip you now or later?" giggled Serena.
"Both would be nice."
Serena kissed Darien and headed off to the temple. Darien and Serena walked up the stairway and found Raye and Chad saying goodbye to Grandpa. Grandpa hugged Raye and told her to try to behave. She giggled. Chad and Darien carried the bags down to the car. Chad had borrowed his brother's Jeep. Raye wore her short black skirt with a spaghetti strap tank top. Chad opened the door to let her in.
Chad and Raye led the way to the beach. It didn't take long to getting there. Chad's beach house was incredibly huge. It seemed that way to Serena anyway. Serena smiled as she saw the ocean. She bolted for the water as soon as Darien pulled into the driveway.
"Serena, WAIT!" yelled out Darien. It was too late, Serena was running toward the ocean. She only went in knee high, because she didn't need to get her new shorts wet. The water was warm and Serena appeared to be in heaven. She twirled round and round in circles all the while laughing like crazy. Darien crossed his arms and just laughed at Serena making a fool of herself. Raye and Chad couldn't help but laugh too. Serena came out of the water to where the rest of the group was standing. She grabbed Raye's arm pulling her closer to the ocean.
"C'mon Raye, it feels so wonderful."
"Serena, can't you wait until we put bathing suits on?"
"No way! What's the fun in waiting?" Serena laughed as she began to twirl again. "Raye, twirl with me!"
"That's quite alright, Serena. I think I'll watch," said Raye who started to get out of the water.
"Don't go Raye!" Serena called out after her friend.
Serena tugged on Raye's arms. Raye turned around to tell Serena to stop it before they fell in, but it was too late, a huge wave caught them off guard; they had fallen into the ocean. Even though it was only about 3 inches above the ankle, both were completely soaked.
"SERENA! I can't believe you!" yelled Raye.
"Sorry," began Serena, trying to contain her laughter.
"What is so funny?" demanded Raye.
"You have a crab on your head!"
"Get it off!" Serena took the small crab off of Raye's head. She started to laugh again.
"I'm sorry Raye, but your face was so funny looking."
Raye stood up and stormed into the beach house. Darien came over to the drenched Serena. He smiled and offered her a hand up. She took that offer.
"You're such a goof, Serena, but you're my goof." Darien hugged Serena. Although she got him wet with all that water still soaking her clothes, Darien wrapped his arm around her and they headed inside.
Chad was unpacking the food in the kitchen and Raye had changed into her two piece bikini. She couldn't believe what Serena did. Raye laughed, 'I guess it was a little funny.' Darien and Serena walked into the house.
"Hey Darien, you and Serena's room is upstairs on the right, the 2nd door,” said Chad.
"Where are you and Raye's room?" asked Serena.
"We're down the hall on the left. There's like another bedroom upstairs, but I figured that someone would end up sharing if we wanted to have separate rooms, so I figured we might as well all share."
Darien spoke up, "Well, I'm not complaining." He smiled at Serena.
Darien motioned for Serena to head upstairs and change into her bathing suit. Serena flipped open her bag and hunted for her bathing suit. Darien just watched Serena as she was trying to choose. She decided on wearing her blue tie-dye one.
"Need any help with that?" asked Darien.
"No silly, I think I can manage it." Serena went into the joining bathroom and got ready to go swimming.
"Wow Serena, that bathing suit looks nice on you," Darien said as Serena came out.
"Thank you." Serena said blushing. "You better put on your bathing suit."
"I am, just waiting on you."
Darien went in and changed into his bathing suit. After he was done, he and Serena went back downstairs to see what Raye and Chad had planned for today. Raye was yelling at Chad to hurry up so that they could all go out onto the beach. Chad hurried to finish putting up the food and went to change into his bathing suit.
Darien sat down on the couch, beside of where Raye was sitting. 'Chad's got one great girl, and so do I.' said Darien to himself as he motioned for Serena to sit down.
"So Raye, what plans do you and Chad have for today?" asked Darien.
"I'm not exactly sure. I think we might just stay around here. We'll probably be on the beach all day. What about you two?"
"Well, I figured that we might stay on the beach too. After all, it is a gorgeous day."
Serena spoke up, "And I want to lay out and get more tanned!" The three friends laughed.
Chad finally came into the living room where everyone else was. He brought out some towels, an umbrella, and some lounge chairs. Darien helped Chad put some sodas and some sandwiches into a cooler. Raye and Serena brought some sunscreen and some things to play with. They all went outside and set up their site. Serena breathed in the sea air. "It's so nice today," she said.
Chad didn't waste any time rubbing sunscreen on Raye. Serena walked over to Darien who was standing in the ocean. He looked at Serena and got this evil grin on his face. Serena knew what this meant. She started to run down the beach, but Darien caught up with her. He grabbed her waist to stop her from running. He picked her up and placed her over his shoulders like a sack of potatoes. Serena tried to tickle his sides, but he resisted. Darien removed Serena from his shoulders and just held her like you would a baby. He headed straight into the ocean. "DARIEN!" Serena screamed. "It's no use, you must go!" They laughed and waves crashed over them.
Chad and Raye laughed at the two and decided to join them. They ran out to the ocean and dove in. Raye swam over to Chad, and held onto his shoulders. "Whatcha hanging onto me for?" "Because I can,” she said. Serena was on Darien's back, she had her legs wrapped around him and was hugging his neck. "Not so tight Serena." "Oh, sorry." She giggled.
The four played around in the ocean until around lunch. Serena got hungry and announced it to the rest of the group. *DROP* Raye looked at Serena, "What else is new? You're ALWAYS starved!" Serena screamed back, "I am not ALWAYS starved!" Raye rolled her eyes.
Serena got out and went over to where they had set up the umbrella and chairs. She spread out the beach blanket and looked through the cooler for a sandwich. Darien, Raye, and Chad followed. Raye wasn't hungry so she decided to lie out in the sun for a little while. The guys and Serena shared a pleasant lunch. They talked about nothing in particular, the usual topic for 20 some year olds. Chad was telling his newest jokes to Serena, because Darien had already heard them. She couldn't stop laughing. Serena thought she was going to choke on her food if she kept laughing like a hyena.
Serena finally calmed herself down and decided to lay out in the sun a little. By then, Raye had become a little hungry. So, Serena took over Raye's lounge chair. She stretched out onto her stomach and put on her sunglasses. It didn't take her long to drift into sleep. Darien and Chad had gotten rather bored watching Serena sleep and Raye eat her sandwich so they pulled out the Frisbee and began to throw it back and forth. Darien stood a couple of feet from Serena and Chad moved farther down the shoreline. They caught almost everything they threw. Chad missed a couple of times and blamed it on the ocean waves. Chad threw it at Darien, the wind picked it up and it set sail straight for Serena. "SERENA watch out!" called Chad. She sat up trying to figure what all the fuss was about when *POW* something hit her smack on her face. Serena fell off of the chair into the sand. Raye ran over to her.
"Are you ok Serena?" asked Raye trying not to laugh at her friend.
"I... I think so,” said Serena still trying to figure out what happened. Chad and Darien ran over.
"I'm so sorry Serena." Chad tried to apologize.
"It's ok Chad. I'm fine, except for this huge headache I have now." Serena stood up.
"Are you sure you're ok?" asked Darien.
"I'm fine. Just let me rest a little." Serena headed for the beach house. Darien followed.
"I feel bad about what happened to you Serena,” said Darien as he opened the porch door.
"It's ok, it was just an accident. Really, I'll be better after I take an aspirin and lay down for a little while."
"Ok, well do you want me to stay with you?"
"You don't have to. You can go back out with Raye and Chad."
"Well, it's the least I could do. I mean, after all, you took care of me when I came home from the hospital, remember?"
"Yeah, that seems like a long time ago."
"It was only last spring, around a year and 3 months."
"Geez, time sure does fly."
"Yup, it sure does when you're with the one you love."
Serena blushed, "But every moment is worth it as long as I spend it with you."
Darien smiled, and helped Serena onto the bed. He got her some aspirin and water to take it with. Darien sat on the edge of the bed beside of her. She sat up and put her hand on his cheek. She slowly moved it to his chest. Darien ran his fingers through Serena's long hair, which she had taken down. (GASP! It wasn't in its normal meatball style) He pushed her back down onto the pillows. Darien leaned down to her and kissed her soft lips. He muttered the three little words that Serena loved to hear him say. She said them back to him and he kissed her again.
Darien began to notice Serena getting tired and decided to let her sleep. He placed a thin blanket over her and laid down beside of her. She rolled over and snuggled up next to him. Darien fell asleep. They slept until midafternoon when Chad came in to see where Darien was and if Serena was feeling any better. Chad looked around downstairs for Darien, but couldn't find him, he figured that he might be upstairs with Serena. Chad tiptoed over to their room. The door was slightly cracked open, and inside he saw Darien and Serena snuggled together. Chad turned around to leave when he sneezed several times. Darien woke up, he noticed Chad outside their bedroom door. Darien decided he might as well get up. Serena felt Darien getting up, she opened her eyes.
"Darien? You stayed with me?" Darien turned to Serena.
"I told you I'd stay. How you feeling?"
"Well, a little better, I still have a slight headache but nothing food can't help." She giggled.
"Chad, you can come in if you want," said Darien. Chad pushed the door open.
"Sorry about that, I didn't mean to wake you two up. Just wanted to see how you were Serena."
"I'm better now, thanks. Is Raye inside?"
"Well, she's out by the pool instead."
Serena's eyes were wide, "You have a pool too?"
"Yeah man, and there's a spa too. You're welcome to it."
Darien smiled, "Wanna go for a dip in the pool, Serena?"
"Yeah!"
"Well, I'll go ahead down. See you guys later," said Chad.
"Bye Chad!" said Serena and Darien.
Darien slipped out of bed and walked over to the french doors. There was a small balcony that overlooked the ocean. Serena got up and wandered over to Darien. Darien opened the doors and stood out on the balcony. Serena followed close behind, Darien wrapped his arms around her.
"This is all for you, my princess." He kissed her passionately.
"Oh Darien. The view is beautiful."
"It certainly is," said Darien looking at Serena. She blushed.
"Well, we better go down to the pool."
They headed down to the pool where Raye and Chad already were. Raye was jumping off of the diving board and Chad was watching from the edge of the pool. Serena dove into the pool, making a huge splash. Darien laughed and sat down beside of Chad. They watched the girls swim around and dive. Raye and Serena remember when they were younger, how they acted at the pool.
"Hey Raye," began Serena, "remember this?" Serena took a cup and put it onto of her head. She laughed.
"Yeah!" Raye made a monkey noise. The two girls laughed uncontrollably. The guys wore a blank stare.
"Ohhh, don't forget about the MADONNA pose!" exclaimed Serena.
"Oh, and trying to catch water!" Raye added.
"Um, ladies, would you be so kind to fill Dare and me in?" asked the confused Chad.
Serena and Raye giggled. "Maybe later Chad," said Raye.
Darien sighed, "It's a girl thing Chad, so let's leave it at that."
"Yeah dude, I guess you're right."
*****************************************************************************************
"Raye!" called out Chad. "Are you ready to go for a night walk out on the beach?"
"Almost Chad! Just trying to figure out what to wear."
"Anything or nothing at all! I don't mind!" Chad laughed. Raye stepped out of the bathroom.
"Is this ok?" she asked. Raye stood there in a plaid halter-top with cut off jeans.
"It's fine," said Chad smiling. "Ok, let's go."
"Where did Serena and Darien go?"
"Darien said he was going to take Serena to the ice cream parlor."
"Imagine that, Serena wanting MORE food."
"We're all going to meet down at the seashore around 10 for a bonfire if that's ok."
"That sounds great Chad." Raye kissed Chad. "So, let's get going already!"
"Your wish is my command oh Great one!"
Raye and Chad walked out down to the beach. The sky was full of stars and the moon was shining bright. Raye was so happy that Chad brought her here. She wrapped her arm around his waist and they began to walk under the moonlight. They walked barefoot so that if they wanted to, they could walk in the ocean. The sand tickled the bottom of Raye's toes, she couldn't help but laugh when a wave ran over her feet. The tide was beginning to leave, so the two sat down on the sand and watched the waves drift in and out. It was so perfect to Raye and to Chad. There was nothing they wanted more than to be together like this.
Darien and Serena met up with Raye and Chad almost exactly 10. Chad and Darien gathered some driftwood together while the girls grabbed a bag of yummy JUMBO marshmallows. Serena ripped open the bag and shoved several into her mouth.
"SERENA! You’re supposed to roast them, not stuff a dozen in your mouth! Besides, how can you shove so many in? They're jumbo!"
"Well, excuse me Raye. I haven't eaten anything since I had my delicious chocolate ice cream."
"Oh, well, that was what.... 10 minutes ago? Serena you're a poker!"
"AM NOT!"
"ARE TOO!"
"Girls, please, let there be peace."
"But Chad, Raye started it!"
"I did not Meatball head!"
"DID TOO!"
*Drop* "Serena, please, just cool it. Come sit by me and eat your marshmallows," said Darien.
Serena grumbled but agreed to sit down. Chad excused himself and went to get something from the house. He came back with his acoustic guitar. He and Darien smiled.
"Chad, you going to sing something?" asked Raye nervously. She knew Chad's songs, and some weren't the best thing to listen to.
"Well, I thought I'd sing something special for you Raye. Darien is going to help me a little."
"Oh, Chad, really it's ok,” Raye said trying to convince Chad otherwise.
"Go for it Chad! I defiantly wanna hear it especially since Darien is going to help sing," exclaimed Serena shoving another marshmallow into her mouth.
Chad began to play a familiar tune that Serena and Raye recognized. It was the Backstreet Boys' "I'll be the one". The girls smiled as the guys began to sing.
::Chad sings:: "I'll be the one..... I guess you were lost when I met you Still there were tears in your eyes So out of trust and I knew No more mysteries and lies There you were wild and free Reachin' out like you needed me A helping hand to make it right I am holding you all through the night..."
The guys sang the chorus together. While Chad looked directly into Raye's eyes and sang, "You need me like I need you We can share our dreams comin' true I can show you what true love means Just take my hands baby please".
Raye and Serena were totally amazed and were swooning over Chad and Darien. Chad actually sounded good, and Darien was pretty good too. Serena and Raye clapped after they finished singing. The guys took a bow.
"I'll be the one," Serena sang.
"Oh please, let's get out the violins!" Raye said trying to cover Serena's mouth.
Serena rolled her eyes, "Well that was great guys. I didn't know you could sing Darien."
Chad spoke up, "Yeah, neither did I, until I asked if he would help me out singing this."
Darien blushed. "I guess I'm just talented."
"Of course you are, and I know something your much better at though."
"What's that Serena?"
"Kissing me!" Serena kissed Darien. He wrapped his arms around her.
The stars shone brightly and the moon was exquisite. The four friends couldn't have had a better day, except for Serena's Frisbee accident. They continued to sit around the bonfire until Serena and Raye fell asleep on the guys. Chad and Darien picked the girls up and carried them inside for a good night's sleep. After all, tomorrow is another day.
Meet me by the Seashore
Chapter 3:
Rainy Day Man
Day 2
Serena awoke to the sounds of rain falling heavily upon the roof. She sighed for she had wanted to spend another beautiful day outside. 'Oh well, maybe tomorrow' she thought. She turned over and looked at Darien who was still fast asleep. Serena leaned over and kissed his nose. Darien slowly opened his eyes and smiled at Serena. "Hey sleepyhead." "Hey princess." Darien leaned toward Serena and kissed her just as she had kissed him. She giggled at Darien's gesture. Serena moved closer to Darien who wrapped his arms around her body. The rain soothed the two back into a peaceful slumber.
Chad woke up forgetting Raye was still fast asleep in the bed. He rolled over toward Raye, who was hidden below the covers, and finally rolled onto her.
"CHAD! What are you doing?!" asked Raye.
"Sorry Raye, I forgot you were here."
Raye pulled the covers down from over her head. "Well, I'm here."
Chad heard it was raining, "Listen Raye."
"Yeah, it's called RAIN," she giggled.
"I know that, but listen, it's so peaceful sounding, don't you think?"
"It would be if someone wouldn't be jabbering nonstop."
Chad sighed and didn't say anything.
Raye spoke up, "I was only kidding Chad." Raye snuggled closer to Chad. He smiled.
"I know." Chad ran his fingers through Raye's long, flowing, black hair. "I love you Raye."
"And, I love you Chad."
They exchanged kisses for what seemed like an eternity, until they heard a knock at the bedroom door. Raye sat up, fixing her hair. Chad cleared his throat and asked who it was. It was none other than Serena. Serena was still in her cute little pajamas. Raye giggled.
"So, what do you want Serena?" asked Raye.
"Well, I was wondering if we were going to fix breakfast. I'm starved."
"Still the same Serena, even on vacation," remarked Chad.
"Yeah, I know," said Serena.
Raye looked at Chad, "Well, we were just about to get up when you came in."
"So, does this mean you're going to fix some breakfast?"
"I guess it does Meatball head."
"Ok, I'm going back upstairs to make sure Darien is awake."
With that Serena headed upstairs to see if Darien had woken up yet. She opened the door and found Darien just sitting on the bed. She shook her head. 'Who's the lazy one?' she thought. Darien held out a hand to Serena. She walked over to the bed and leaned in eye view.
"Close your eyes, Serena."
"What for?"
"Just do it."
"Ok, whatever you say."
Serena closed her eyes, and stood up straight. Serena stood just far enough to where Darien could stand infront of her. He took one arm and put around her waist and the other around her back, holding her ever so gently. Then, he turned her to where her back was facing the bed. "Are you ready?" asked Darien. She nodded yes. Unsuspecting, Darien pushed her onto the bed. Serena gasped. Darien jumped on the bed, making Serena scream. But her scream soon turned into laughter. When she was finished laughing she smiled at Darien, who's head was propped on his hand. She stood on her knees and pushed Darien onto his back. Serena straddled Darien and sat on his stomach. He didn't expect this from her; Darien had to laugh at Serena.
"What," began Serena, "you expecting something different?"
"Well, one thing is for sure, I didn't know this was going to happen." He laughed.
Serena giggled too. "Well then, what now?"
"Whatever you want."
In the distance Raye yelled that breakfast was ready.
"Hmmm, breakfast or you.... Breakfast or you...."
"How about both, princess?"
"Of course both."
Serena leaned down and kissed Darien. She was starting to get off of Darien's stomach when he flung her over beside him on the bed. Serena was a little surprised at how quickly Darien did that. What surprised her even more was when Darien straddled her. He kissed her nose and then rolled over off the bed. Serena blushed blood red. "Are you coming Meatball head?" "Yeah, right behind you." Serena and Darien went downstairs to eat some delicious breakfast.
The rain was still pouring down outside. It indeed was going to be too dreary to do anything outside or to even go out into the rain. Chad helped Raye put the breakfast onto the kitchen table. Darien helped Serena sit down, and slid her chair closer to the table. Chad did the same for Raye before sitting himself down. Serena eyed the food. "Serena, just wait a sec before you go into garbage disposal mode, ok?" said Raye. Raye poured everyone some fresh squeezed orange juice. "Now you can eat Serena." Chad and Darien chuckled. The four friends ate breakfast and started to discuss the day's plans.
Serena, still chewing some of her food said, "So guys, what we going to do today?"
Raye rolled her eyes. "Well, I dunno, we're trying to decide that Genius."
Chad spoke up, "Why don't we play some games or something?"
"Like what?" asked Darien.
"TWISTER!" Serena exclaimed.
Again Raye rolled her eyes. "What about Scrabble or Charades?"
"That's fine Raye," said Chad. "Or anything else we can think of to do."
Everyone finished up breakfast and all pitched in to clean up the mess. Raye and Serena washed and dried the dishes and the guys put them up. It didn't take long with everyone working hard. Serena went out into the screened-in porch and sat down in the rocking chair. Chad walked out there.
"Anything wrong Serena?"
"Oh no Chad. Everything is ok. I just wanted to come out and listen to it rain."
"Really? I like listening to it too," said Chad pulling a chair beside of Serena's.
"It's wicked cool to watch rain come down on the ocean."
"I agree."
Raye walked out to the porch. "Hey guys, having a party without me?"
"No way Raye," said Chad letting Raye have his chair.
"And what about me?" asked Darien. He sat on the love seat that was out there.
They sat out there for the longest time, not really saying anything. Everyone was pretty quiet and was busy listening to the rain fall overhead. Of course, someone would make a comment or something, and then it would go back to being like before. Raye stood up with her hands on her hips.
"Well? Are we just going to sit here or are we going to do something?" asked Raye.
"Just waiting for someone to get it started," said Serena.
"You would wait for someone else to do things, Serena," commented Raye.
Serena stuck out her tongue and said, "Well, what are we going to do first then?"
"I figured a nice game of Scrabble."
Darien spoke up, "You girls better know how good Chad and I am at this game. You'll be lucky to even think about winning, isn't that right Chad?"
"Yeah, man. We RULE!" The guys high fived while Serena and Raye gave blank stares.
"I'll go get the game," said Chad.
While Chad fetched the game the others went into the living room and sat on the floor around the coffee table. Chad placed it down on the table and opened the box. He handed everyone what he or she needed.
Raye spoke up, "Why don't we make this interesting?"
"I've heard that before," said Serena under her breath.
"What do you advise Raye?" asked Chad.
"Well, why don't we play girls against guys. You both said how great you were and I figured with this ditz helping me, we might actually stand a chance."
"EXCUSE ME?!" wailed Serena.
Raye whispered into Serena's ear, "Shhhh.... they don't know how good we are at this game. So don't let them know. We're sure to win, and if we do maybe we can actually get something good out of it."
"Oh ok," Serena whispered back.
"Sounds alright by me, how about you Chad?" asked Darien.
"Dude, I think it's cool. Ok, let's play then."
So the game began. It didn't take the girls long to win several games in a row. Serena teased Raye about being the Human Dictionary. Raye teased back that Serena actually put them on the board correctly. The guys couldn't believe that they only managed to win one game. How in the world were the girls winning so much? Raye and Serena did decide to let the guys win that one game, they felt it would boost their confidence only more. *Hee hee* };-)
The guys decided on one more game and the winners could do whatever they wanted to do to the losers for the rest of the day. It sounded fair enough. Serena and Raye huddled together and wondered if they should let the guys win or actually win it for themselves. That was a hard decision, no telling what the guys would make them do for the rest of the day. Serena and Raye have always wanted to have slaves for a day. It sounded nifty.
So the game began. The guys made it tough, but the girls somehow managed to win the very last game. Darien and Chad demanded that they play a rematch, but Raye and Serena decided against it. No way were they going to give up their slaves for the rest of the day. The guys hung their heads low and Chad said out loud, "Ok, so what do you want?" Serena and Raye looked at each other with evil grins on their faces.
"Ok, guys, Serena and I are going to let you guess the first jobs as our slaves. Doesn't that sound fun?" remarked Raye.
"Yeah guys, this will be a blast!" added Serena.
Chad and Darien rolled their eyes and Chad finally spoke up, "Ok, I'll guess first."
Raye smiled and said, "Alrighty then."
So Raye went into the middle of the room and did her charade for Chad. It was a massage. Chad agreed. Serena imitated what she wanted Darien to do first. It was to feed her by hand, like she had done to him in the park. Darien chuckled at Serena. Chad and Raye went into the bedroom while Darien went into the kitchen and grabbed some strawberries to feed Serena.
Raye plopped down onto the bed. She gathered all her long hair together and put it out of Chad's way. He began to massage her back and slowly moved up to her tense shoulders. It was such a relief to Raye because she's been very stressed out over things at the temple lately. Finally, she could unwind and let Chad rub her worries away. She smiled and closed her eyes. Chad looked at Raye and smiled, he was glad that he could make her happy by simply massaging her. Raye started the feel the cold chills run up and down her spine continuously as Chad rubbed his hands on Raye's back. Chad sat down next to Raye and jokingly asked her if she wanted him to chop stick her back. She raised her eyebrow, afraid to ask what that was. She nodded her head yes. So, Chad chopped on Raye's back. She felt like someone was trying to cut her body into pieces, but she smiled as it began to feel pretty good to her body. Chad eased up and went back to massaging her back gently and lovingly. Raye felt like a goddess being treated like that. She sat up and stared at Chad.
"Did I not do it to suit you Raye?" asked Chad.
"No, nothing like that. That was the best massage I've ever had."
Chad wore a blank stare on his face, "REALLY?"
"You bet. Now slave, I command you to kiss me!"
"Your wish is my command your majesty!"
Meanwhile... Darien and Serena were up in their room on top of their bed. Serena was laying on her back with her mouth wide open. Darien placed the strawberry into Serena's mouth. She took the strawberry and nibbled on the end of Darien's fingers. He smiled as he fed her another strawberry.
"Darien, would you go get some whip cream to dip those in please?" asked Serena.
"Sure princess." Darien went downstairs into the kitchen and got the container of Cool-Whip.
He dipped the end of the strawberry into the Cool-Whip. Darien fed it to Serena. She smiled, that one was so much better with whip cream on it. Darien fed Serena several more before she finally decided that she had enough.
"Are you done eating my dear?"
"Almost, I know what I want now, slave."
"What?" asked Darien.
"I want you," said Serena grinning.
"If that's what you want, then that's what you shall have."
Darien leaned down to Serena and kissed her pink lips. She tasted yummy, just like the strawberries he had fed her. He had grown rather hungry watching her eat those juicy red strawberries. While french kissing, Darien managed to mumble to Serena, "You taste simply divine, my strawberry shortcake." She smiled slightly and kept on kissing.
While both couples were busy in their own room, someone rang the doorbell. Chad growled when he had to stop kissing Raye. "I'll be right back," he told her. So Chad went to the door to see whom it was. It was a tall, blue eyed and short haired, blonde that Chad had met several summers ago; her name was Kali. Kali had brought a friend along that Chad had met a couple times before. Her friend was a brunette with slightly longer hair than Kali, her name was Crystal.
Raye heard some girls' voices and went to see who it was. Serena and Darien also wanted to see who was at the door. Raye couldn't believe Chad was standing there flirting away with two girls other than her! When Darien and Serena walked down Crystal ran over and hugged Darien. They had met just last summer when Darien and Chad came down for the weekend.
"Hey Darien, it's been a long time," said Crystal.
"It sure has," Darien replied back.
Serena glared at Crystal, "And just who do you think you are hugging MY boyfriend like that?!"
"I'm Crystal Anderson, Darien and I met last summer and had a wonderful weekend together, didn't we?"
Serena moved her glare from Crystal to Darien. "What does she mean by that EXACTLY?"
"C’mon' Serena, nothing happened. Just went out for a while."
Serena squinted her eyes and went back upstairs. She slammed the door. Darien went up after her.
"So Chad, who is this fiery looking girl?" asked Kali.
"I'm Raye, Chad's girlfriend," Raye said boldly.
"Oh, Chad, you have a girlfriend? And... it's not me?"
"Chad," Raye began to say, "we need to talk."
"Now Raye?"
"Yes. RIGHT NOW!"
"Can't it wait? Well, Kali and Crystal were driving down the road when it started to rain so hard they couldn't see to drive. They're going to crash here until it calms down," said Chad to Raye.
Raye had had quite enough of those bimbos. She stormed upstairs to talk to Serena. Raye left Chad calling to her that he would talk with her shortly. She found Darien beating on the bedroom door. Serena locked Darien out.
"Serena! Open this door!"
"NO! Just go away!" Serena called back to Darien.
"Raye, Serena locked me out just because Crystal hugged me."
"Well, you know how Serena is about other girls around you, just let her be."
Darien grumbled and went back downstairs.
"Serena, it's me, open up."
"Why should I?"
"Because I want to talk to you. I need to talk to you."
Serena opened the door for Raye. She had tears streaming down her face. Serena hugged Raye and started to cry again. Raye tried to comfort her best friend.
"Serena, why so gloom?"
"Because, Darien doesn't like me anymore," she sniffled back.
"Of course he does, Darien loves you with all his heart."
"That's not true, I saw the way he looked at her. And besides, they had something going on last summer! That's when WE started going out!"
"Oh Serena. Shhh, it'll be all right. Besides, I've got bigger problems than you do."
Serena stepped back. "You do?"
"Yeah, obviously this Kali girl thinks Chad is her boyfriend. I've heard him mention her before when he first came to them temple. Back then, I think they had something, but now... I wonder."
"Maybe they broke up, but she didn't want to accept it Raye."
"I think there's more to it than that Serena. I'm wondering, why would they stop here if it's pouring down outside? There's a gas station and some fast food places just a half mile or so, maybe not even THAT far."
"Well," Serena said sniffling, "why don't we go back downstairs and talk with the guys? Maybe the girls have left by now."
"No, they're still here alright. I sense they're here for more than just shelter. C'mon."
Serena followed Raye downstairs. Everyone was in the living room, Kali was next to Chad on the sofa and Crystal was next to Darien on the couch. The girls were majorly flirting with Chad and Darien, and it made Serena and Raye fume! Crystal had her hands on Darien's chest, which was making him uncomfortable. Kali was leaning on and over Chad constantly. Raye and Serena couldn't take it anymore.
"GET OUT!" screamed Raye.
"Raye, they're my guests," said Chad.
"Well, it's either them or me."
"And me too," said Serena.
"Serena! What are you grumbling about?" asked Darien.
"Don't talk to me," she said back to him.
"Well, which is it Chad?"
"Raye, calm down." Chad stood up and went to touch Raye's shoulders.
"Don't tell me to calm down and don't touch me. C'mon Serena, we're out of here."
Raye and Serena grabbed their raincoats and umbrellas and stormed out of the door. Darien and Chad looked at each other. They hadn't done anything, had they? Chad knew that he had to tell Kali and Crystal to leave. He needed to find Raye and Darien needed to find Serena.
"Ladies, please I need you to go ahead and go. The rain's slacked up now," said Chad.
"Chad, you want ME to go?" asked Kali slightly leaning over trying to show off her cleavage.
"YES! Now!"
"What about me, Darien?"
"Yes, you too, Crystal."
"Oh c’mon. You don't want that." She started to kiss Darien.
"Stop it." Darien pushed her away.
"LEAVE!" screamed Chad.
Crystal and Kali looked at each other. "We know how bad you can't resist us."
"I bet we can," replied Chad. "Now go." Chad opened the door.
Crystal looked at Darien and tried to kiss him again. "I told you NO!"
Crystal hung her head down and went out the door.
"Chad, baby, I know how you feel. You've always had a thing for me, just as I have for you. But now, you're being ridiculous chasing after that girl. She treats you terribly. I'd do so much for you."
"Well as bad as she may treat me sometimes, I love her. Nothing can change that, not even old feelings for you Kali."
Kali was shattered. She knew Chad was always true to his feelings. Kali didn't want to give up Chad like that, not without a fight. She wasn't going to lose him. Kali walked out and her and Crystal left in their car.
The guys didn't say anything to each other. They knew what they had to do, find the girls and talk. Chad and Darien went outside into the rain and began their search for Raye and Serena. They checked all the food places hoping Serena would be hungry and stop to eat, but no luck. They also checked all the shopping stores nearby, no one had seen them. When Darien and Chad had about given up, Chad remembered Raye saying on their walk that she wanted to go to the park. The guys ran down the street to the park.
Raye and Serena was sitting on a bench watching the ducks swim on the pond. The rain began to come down harder. They were glad they grabbed their raincoats and umbrellas. Raye turned around, she thought she heard someone call her name. She looked at Serena, Serena then heard someone call her name.
They looked at each other, then looked down the road and saw two people running to them. It was Chad and Darien, soaked completely. Their hair was all out of place, and their shirts were stuck to their skin.
Serena stood up and glanced at Darien. He was pretty sexy standing there in the rain, the way his hair was sticking up and how his shirt was clinging to his skin. She smiled slightly. Darien walked over to Serena. He put his hand on her chin, Darien was surprised she didn't pull away. He pulled her closer to him. Darien whispered in her ear, "Serena, you know you're the only one I've ever loved and ever will love. Last year, I took her out bowling for the first time. That's what she meant by alot of fun." Serena didn't really believe him, but she knew he was sincere about it. She wrapped her arms around him. He welcomed her embrace and wrapped his arms around her.
Raye was still looking out at the pond. Chad sat next to her on the bench. "Raye, I've know Kali ever since I've had this place here. I admit, I use to like her before I went to the temple, but then I saw you and knew that my fate was with you. You can even look into your fire about it. You are the only girl I love." He leaned over and kissed her cheek. "I'd enjoy it very much if you would come back to the beach house." She smiled, Raye knew what the fire would tell her about Chad. He was right, she was the only girl he could love, and Chad would never betray his feelings.
The two couples walked hand-in-hand back to the beach house. It was a quiet walk back, until the sun popped out from behind the clouds when it stopped raining. The girls smiled and Chad and Darien knew that they were lucky to have such girlfriends, two in a zillion.
Chad and Darien wanted the girls to sit out on the porch while they got something special, just for them. They came back out singing, "I want it that way."
"Raye," Chad added before the actual words, "You are my fire, the one desire Believe when I say I want it that way...." Then Darien sang the part, "Now I can see that we've fallen apart From the way that it use to be, yeah No matter the distance I want you to know that Deep down inside of me You are my fire The one desire Believe when I say I want it that way, Cause I want it that way."
The girls were in complete tears. It was true, Raye was Chad's fire. She lit up his life, as did Serena for Darien. Nothing would tear these couples apart. They were destined to be together forever and always. The singing continued into the long hours of the night until Raye and Serena wanted to get some rest. Tomorrow would be a better day, full of sunshine and romance!
Meet me by the seashore
Chapter 4:
Midsummer Night's Dream
Day 3
Raye awoke to the aroma of something delicious smelling. She looked over to where Chad was supposed to be, but he wasn't there. Raye figured he was already in the kitchen, hopefully cooking breakfast. Raye was about to slip out of bed when Serena knocked on the door and came in.
"Good morning Raye."
"Morning Serena, you're up early today."
"Yeah, Darien and I are going to go for a walk on the beach before it gets too awful hot."
"Ok, cool. Seen Chad anywhere?"
"Uh-huh, he's in the kitchen, but he wanted you to stay in bed until he came in."
"Why?" asked Raye.
Serena smiled, "You'll see." She left Raye's room and headed into the living room where Darien was waiting for her.
Raye looked around the room, trying to pass time until Chad came in. She hummed "I want it that way" to keep her occupied. Raye fluffed her pillow and settled back into bed. 'He better hurry up with whatever he's doing. I'm dying for food... hmm, that sounded more like Serena than me!' she thought. "RAYE! Are you up?" Chad called. "Yeah, waiting on you," she replied back. Chad came into the room carrying a tray with a plate of her favorite breakfast foods. He even placed a little vase with a daisy on the tray. Chad sat the tray on Raye's lap.
"I figured you might like a breakfast in bed for a change."
"You thought right! Thanks Chad." Raye leaned over carefully, making sure not to spill anything, kissing Chad.
"Anything for you, Raye."
"What else do you have planned for today?"
"Well, I thought about taking you someplace for dinner. After all, we are celebrating our anniversary."
Raye smiled, "Sounds great! Can Serena and Darien join us?"
"Well it's up to you, but I kinda wanted to be alone."
"Oh, well, maybe we can meet up with them afterwards."
"Yeah, that may work. I"ll talk to Dare when he and Serena get back from their walk."
Raye chowed down on her breakfast Chad had made. It was delicious, and tasted even better in bed. While she was eating Chad was by her side making decent conversation, which Raye didn't mind because she loved everything about him. He makes her so happy with whatever Chad does for her. Not only did Raye light up Chad's life, he lit up hers as well.
Meanwhile...
Serena and Darien were walking down the beach shoreline holding hands. The sun had just risen and the sky was beautiful. Serena couldn't believe how cool it was to watch the sunrise, especially over the ocean. Serena had on a pair of her cut off jeans with a spaghetti strap tank top. Darien loved it when Serena showed off her body. It made him want to touch her even more.
"Darien, thank you."
"For what princess?"
"For bringing me here."
"It's no problem," replied Darien.
"But that's not all, I want to thank you for everything."
"Everything?"
"Yeah, for putting up with me, loving me, kissing me, holding me, EVERYTHING!"
Darien smiled and stopped walking, "That's because I love you."
"I love you too."
Darien pulled Serena toward him, and leaned in for a kiss. One little kid walked by and made kissing noises, which made Serena laugh. Darien rolled his eyes, it aggravated him when they were in the middle of kissing and she would just laugh. Serena apologized and went back to kissing. The tide was coming in while they were engaged in kissing. The waves began to roll over their feet, the water felt so nice and refreshing. Darien and Serena continued on their way down the shoreline.
"Darien," Serena began, "why do you love me?"
"Why shouldn’t I love you? You're beautiful, kind, funny, and understanding, need I say more? You're the best thing that's ever happened in my life."
"Oh Darien, you're so good to me."
Darien smiled, "Serena..." He paused.
"Yes?"
"Nevermind."
"C'mon Darien, what is it?"
"Nothing, I just like saying you're name."
Serena giggled, "Ok, sure."
"Serena, why don't we go out tonight, someplace fancy to eat?"
"OOOO, sounds great!"
"I know just the place, but I want to surprise you."
"I can't wait."
Serena kissed Darien's cheek. She couldn't wait to tell Raye that Darien was taking her out to a fancy restraunt. Darien didn't know that Chad also planned on taking Raye there. What a surprise it would be if they ran into each other.
*****************************************************************************************
"RAYE!!" Serena screamed out as she walked in the door.
"What is it Meatball head?"
"Guess what."
"What?"
"Darien is taking me out for a fancy dinner."
"WOW Serena, guess what?"
"What?"
"Chad is taking me out for dinner too!"
"Cool!" The girls twirled around in circles excited about the whole dinner thing.
"Where is Darien taking you Serena?"
"I dunno, he wouldn't say. Darien wanted to surprise me. What about you and Chad?"
"I dunno either, he never mentioned it. Although on the way coming to the beach he mentioned this place that he likes to eat at, called Lucky Jack's or something. If I remember right, Darien doesn't like that place, so I doubt we'll see each other."
"Oh well, we'll have to meet afterwards then, maybe go out for some karaoke."
"That's a great idea Serena!"
Darien and Chad walked over to where Raye and Serena were sitting in the living room. They had also been discussing dinner plans. The strange thing was, neither one mentioned what restraunt they were going to. Darien and Chad both had reservations for 7 p.m. later that night. It was only 11am, so the guys decided that they would hang out together while the girls were together.
"Ladies," Darien began, "Chad and I are going to go play some basketball in the park court a little while."
"Ok Darien, well then I guess Raye and I can go shopping or something."
"Yeah, while you guys are out playing bball we'll be out shopping!" said Raye.
"Well, Raye try not to spend too much. You too Serena," said Chad.
The girls giggled.
Chad grabbed the basketball and they headed out to the park. The girls sat there on the couch doing nothing in particular. Raye stood up and went into her room. Serena followed. Raye opened up the closet she hung some of her clothes. There was the deep red with black dress. Raye really liked that dress, she took the hanger it was on and held it up against her.
"What do you think Serena?"
"I think it’s gorgeous."
"Yeah, so do I. Well, do you wanna go look for dresses anyway?"
"SURE! You know me, I could never turn down a shopping spree!"
So Raye changed out of her pajamas and put on her black capris with her red flame tank top. Serena was already dressed, so she just waited on Raye to get ready. They gathered their purses and went out the door, looking for SALES!
Serena and Raye seemed to skip down the streets into the stores. Whenever they saw a cool outfit they tried them on and took pictures! The girls remembered doing this as high schoolers. Raye would try something on and step outside of the dressing stall and posed while Serena snapped a picture. Serena then would try something on. They couldn't remember the last time they had done this. It was alot of fun trying on clothes with your best friend. Serena and Raye actually didn't buy much. Serena bought a pair of Capris, a tank top, a mini skirt, and a halter-top similar to the one Raye had. Raye bought a red skirt like the one Serena bought, 2 pairs of shoes, and a pair of jean shorts. The guys would be proud that they didn't buy much.
It was getting close to 4 when the girls returned to the beach house. They were impressed by all they had accomplished in around 5 hours. Serena and Raye threw their bags into their bedrooms and started to get ready for their dinners. Serena showered first while Raye was trying to decide on what shoes to wear. When Serena was finished Raye took her shower.
Serena was only in her bra and underwear when she had a knock on her bedroom door. It was Darien. Serena blushed. Darien smiled.
"It's not like I've never seen you in those before, and I don't think it will be the last."
"I know, but I wanted to surprise you with my outfit for dinner. So could you go somewhere else?"
"Ok ok, just let me get my clothes and I'll get ready in the extra bedroom."
"Thanks Dare. I love you!"
"I love you too Serena." Darien kissed Serena.
Serena finished getting ready. She wore the dress she had tried on at Raye's temple. The light blue dress did seem to compliment her curves. 'Wow, I can't believe it, I actually look pretty.' thought Serena. She smiled at herself in the mirror and began to put on her makeup. She picked out her Silver heel shoes to wear, and then she put on her necklace that had a moon charm. She decided to slip out of her room and go see how Raye was doing.
Serena peeked out her door, making sure Darien was no where in sight. She tiptoed down the stairs. She heard the shower going and assumed Chad must be in it. Serena saw Darien on the porch in the rocking chair. He was already finished getting dressed. She tiptoed to Raye's bedroom. Serena knocked on the door.
"Raye, open up, its me."
"Hey Serena, WOW! You look nice."
"Thanks Raye. You look pretty awesome yourself."
"Thanks Meatball head. I like how you curled your hair."
Serena smiled. She had put up her normal meatballs, but curled the hair that wasn't in them.
"Thanks Raye, and the spiral curls look nice in your hair."
"You like it?"
"YEAH!"
Serena watched as Raye finished putting the rest of her makeup on. Serena had always been jealous at the way her best friend looked. No matter what Raye did, she always looked so pretty. To Raye it was the other way around, she had always thought Serena was pretty no matter what she had done.
When Raye had finished all of her makeup and putting her shoes on, the girls walked out to where the guys were. Darien and Chad were out of the porch watching the ocean waves. The sun was beginning to set; the sun's rays sparkled across the ocean water. The guys hadn't even heard the girls walk up behind them. Serena and Raye cleared their throats to get the guys' attention.
The guys turned around to see the most beautiful creatures on earth standing in front of them. Darien and Chad dropped their mouths wide open. They were speechless. The girls giggled at their guys' expressions.
"Say something Darien," said Serena.
"You look.... so....so.... beautiful."
Serena blushed, "Thanks, you look nice too." Darien stood up and went closer to Serena.
"I like the dress you picked out, it fits you nicely." He ran his fingers down Serena's side.
Darien took Serena's hand and kissed it. "I love you so much Serena."
"I love you more," Serena teased back.
Chad was still trying to find words to even begin to describe Raye. She appeared so heavenly before him, how could he have her for his own? Raye smiled.
"Well, Chad?"
"I... I...."
"You what?"
"I LOVE IT!" exclaimed Chad.
Raye blushed. "I figured you might."
Chad went over to Raye, "You thought right."
Raye giggled, "Well, guys, I guess Chad and I are going to go. Wanna meet up afterwards for karaoke?"
"Sounds great Raye. Meet around 10 p.m. at the KARAOKE HOUSE?" asked Darien.
"OK, that's cool," said Chad.
"Have fun you two," said Serena as Chad and Raye left the house.
Serena looked at Darien, he looked sharp in that black tuxedo. (Although he looks nice in his Tuxedo Mask outfit too) Darien turned to Serena who was still checking him out. She blushed when she realized her had seen her looking.
"What Serena?"
"You look handsome, Darien," said Serena.
"You look good yourself," commented Darien.
"Are you ready to go eat?"
"Let me guess, you're hungry!"
Serena nodded yes and Darien laughed.
"Ok, let's go then," said Darien.
Darien and Serena left the house and got into Darien's Porsche. It didn't take long to arrive at the restraunt. It was called SILVER MILLENNIUM. The place had a unique look to it. Serena smiled as Darien opened her door for her. Serena wrapped her arm around his, and the happy couple went in for dinner. They arrived exactly at 7 so they didn't have to wait any to be seated.
They followed the hostess toward the back section. "Here you are Mr. Shields. Enjoy your dinner, the waiter will be with you shortly." Serena and Darien were seated in a booth. The place had dim lights, which had it so romantic looking. Serena hoped it would be a very romantic dinner with Darien. She always loved him when he was in a romantic mood. The two didn't really say anything at first, they just stared at each other. Darien loved to look into Serena's eyes, he thought he could see forever in them.
"SERENA?" asked someone.
Serena looked up. There stood Raye and Chad.
"RAYE? CHAD?" asked Darien.
"Dude, I didn't know you guys were coming to Silver Millennium," said Chad.
"Raye, I thought you said you guys were going to Lucky Jack's or something."
"Well, Chad changed his mind last minute, didn't want to drive all the way across town."
"Oh, yeah, I see his point," said Serena.
"Well, are you guys sitting near us?" asked Darien.
"Yeah, just a few booths behind you," said Chad.
"Ok, well, if you don't mind, I'd like to spend dinner alone with Serena. I'm sure Chad that you want to spend your dinner alone with Raye."
"Yeah Dare, I was going to mention that we shouldn't really talk until after we're done with dinner," said Chad.
"Well, I've got some things I want to talk to Serena about."
"Ohhhh. I see," said Chad looking at Serena.
"What about Darien?" asked Serena.
"Just wait, you'll see."
"C'mon Chad, let's go sit down. See you guys later."
"Bye."
Darien couldn't believe Chad brought Raye there. He had wanted Chad to take Raye someplace else, so he could be completely alone with Serena. It was a good thing that they were several booths away and Serena couldn't talk to Raye. Darien was fidgeting with his hands, Serena wondered why he looked nervous. She placed her hand on his. Darien smiled, it eased his mind of the whole matter. He looked at Serena still holding his hands. She was so beautiful sitting there, her hair neatly arranged, with a little bit of makeup on, and a tight fitting dress. He took one hand and held it against Serena's face. Darien pulled her head gently to him, leaning toward hers as well. He kissed her pink lips.
"Serena," Darien said nervously, "we've been through a lot together."
"Yes we have."
"Well, through it all you've always been by my side, no matter what."
"I've been there for you as you've been there for me."
"That's what makes us so different from other couples. I loved you long before I met you. You're the only person that completely knows me inside and out. There's so many things I want to say to you right now, but no words could begin to express them fully."
"Darien, what are you trying to say?"
"Serena, Moon princess, my love, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I don't want to wait any longer." Darien got out of the booth and dropped to one knee. He took one of Serena's hands and pulled out a box. "Serena, my sweet Serena, I want you to be my wife. Will you marry me?"
The room grew quiet as they watched the couple's proposal. Serena began to cry, "YES!" Darien opened the box and pulled out the ring. It was an engagement ring that had diamonds in the shape of a crescent moon. Serena hugged Darien and kissed him.
Serena ran over to where Raye and Chad were. They were in the middle of a conversation when Serena burst in...
"LOOK! Look what Darien gave me!" She showed them the ring on her finger.
"Darien asked you to marry him?" asked Chad.
"Uh-huh." Raye jumped up hugging her best friend.
"I'm so happy for you Serena."
"Thank you Raye."
"Yeah congrats Serena."
"Thanks Chad."
Darien walked over to the booth. Raye hugged Darien.
"Congrats Darien!"
Darien just smiled. Chad stuck out his hand to Darien. They shook hands then hugged.
"Congratulations Dare. I wondered when you would do this."
"Well, I couldn't wait any longer for Serena." Darien wrapped his arms around her.
"Darien, can I talk to you alone for a minute? Excuse us ladies."
Serena and Raye wondered what all the commotion was about, hopefully nothing bad. Chad pulled Darien a couple booths away from the girls.
"What's up Chad?"
"Darien, I wanted to ask Raye to marry me tonight."
"Oh man, why didn't you?"
"Well, I was kinda in the middle of it when Serena burst over."
"Sorry about that. You know how she is."
"Well, I don't think Raye can concentrate on me now."
"I'm really sorry about that. Maybe you can ask later tonight."
"Yeah, maybe."
The guys walked back to the girls. Raye and Serena asked them what they talked about, but Chad and Darien said it was guy stuff. Raye and Serena rolled their eyes. Serena still couldn't believe what Darien did. She wasn't expecting him to ask her to marry him that night. She didn't expect it from him for a long time. Serena was glad he did though, she had wanted it to happen for the longest time.
Serena and Darien went back to their own booth and started talking about all the possibilities of their wedding. It made Serena feel a little weird talking about HER wedding. She smiled, just thinking about it. Mrs. Darien Shields, she liked the sound of that. Darien liked the idea of Serena being his wife, having kids, and growing old together. Everything was so perfect.
Chad decided not to ask Raye to marry him at dinner. He sighed as the two couples left for karaoke. 'Maybe tonight, when we're alone' he thought. Chad didn't know when that would happen, but he knew he would ask Raye sometime.
At the Karaoke House, everyone seemed to be in good spirits. A guy, who Serena and Raye thought was cute, was singing "Livin' la vida loca." All the girls in the building cheered loudly as the guy danced around the stage. Serena looked at Darien and Chad.
"No way Serena, I know what you're thinking."
"Oh c'mon Darien. You and Chad would be great!"
"Yeah you guys!" added Raye.
"Well Raye, if you want us to sing so much, why don't you and Serena go sing something."
"Me and SERENA? SING? I don't think she has a singing bone in her body!"
"HEY! I do too and you know it. We sing several songs well together. C'mon Raye, it would be a blast."
"You're right Serena. Whatcha wanna sing?"
"Well, what about... Oh Starry night?"
"The one I sang at the festival?"
"YEAH!"
"Sure that you're up to it?"
"Of course!"
So the girls got up on stage. Both still in their dinner dresses. They sang the entire song together. It sounded great. Serena and Raye couldn't believe how well they harmonized. The crowd went wild. Darien and Chad were stunned as well, they sounded well together. Kinda hard to believe that two people who fight and bicker as much as they had sounded so good together. They did such a good job, Serena and Raye decided to sing something a little more upbeat. They decided on "Cruel Summer" by Ace of Base.
The place was jamming and Serena and Raye were instant hits. They sang several other songs that night. The crowd loved them. Serena was still shocked at her and Raye's harmony. Raye and Serena were happy that everyone liked them. Finally, Raye and Serena decided they better stop before they got sore throats from singing so much. Darien and Chad were excited that they had FAMOUS girlfriends. The girls giggled.
The couples drove back to the beach house. The night was perfect, Serena and Darien were engaged, the girls sang karaoke, and everyone had fun! Serena and Darien were inseparable. Raye and Chad were happy for them. They wished them the best of luck together. Raye knew that they would make it last forever and ever. As everyone walked in the door someone came running up behind them.
"CHAD!" It was Kali.
"What is it?"
"It's all your fault!"
"WHAT? WHAT happened Kali?" asked Chad.
"Someone.... someone.... someone raped me!"
"Excuse me?" asked Raye.
"After Chad threw me out.... someone raped me." Kali started to cry.
"Kali, come in and sit down," said Chad.
Raye eyed Kali as she walked past, something didn't feel right about her story. Kali sat down on the couch next to Chad and Darien. Serena and Raye stood there watching Kali's every move. Serena sensed something about Kali's story that didn't seem right. Kali kept crying on into the night, Raye and Serena couldn't take it anymore.
"Hey, listen, Serena and I are going to bed. See you guys in the morning."
"Hey Raye, I think Kali is going to stay in the extra bedroom for tonight," said Chad.
"Whatever," said Raye and headed to her bedroom.
"Goodnight Darien," said Serena.
"I'll be up there in a few minutes Serena."
So, Kali, Chad, and Darien were left in the living room. Darien didn't think Kali was completely telling the ENTIRE story, but he figured he better not say anything. Darien decided to go on up to bed, he wanted to get some rest. He had a busy day. Chad and Kali were left in the living room. It was almost midnight. Chad couldn't believe that he was letting her stay the night, but he didn't want her outside at this time of night. She would just have to go tomorrow morning.
Kali went down the hall to the extra bedroom. Chad was saying goodnight, when Kali went up to him and kissed his lips. She started to french kiss Chad, but he pulled away. He wiped his mouth and looked at Kali.
"Listen, just because you're staying doesn't mean I love you. I love Raye and only her."
"But Chad...."
"Don't but me, Kali, I hate to say this, but I don't think you're telling the truth."
She sighed, "Goodnight Chad," and closed the door.
Chad went into his bedroom. Raye was in bed reading one of her books she brought along. She peeked over the pages at Chad. She went back to reading. Chad got into bed. He leaned over and kissed Raye's cheek.
"I love you Raye."
"I know Chad. So, did Kali leave?"
"No Raye, she's here. But, she's leaving first thing tomorrow morning."
"Good. I don't trust her, something about her story doesn't make sense."
"I know, I felt it too. But I figured I should at least let her stay the night."
"I guess."
Raye put down her book. She looked at Chad, Raye ran her fingers through Chad's rather bushy hair. She whispered, "I love you." Raye kissed Chad and snuggled up to him. It didn't take her long to fall asleep. Chad turned out the light, embraced Raye as much as he could, and drifted into sweet slumber.
Serena was asleep when Darien came into the room. He quietly walked over to the bed. Darien looked at Serena lying there, so beautiful and peaceful looking. He was careful not to wake her just yet. He took off his shirt and pants leaving only his plaid boxers on; Darien slipped into bed, he leaned over to Serena and kissed her cheek. He then kissed her neck, and started kissing the corner of her lips. Serena opened her eyes to see her future husband running his fingers through her hair.
"Hey you," she said.
"Hi," said Darien as he kissed her lips.
"Oh Darien. I love you."
"I know," he replied moving his body closer to hers.
Serena turned toward him. She placed her head on Darien's chest. Darien wrapped his arms around Serena. She wore a silky pink nightgown, so Darien liked to hold her. He molded his body against hers, it wouldn't be much longer until they would be one. He smiled as he drifted into sleep.
The day held many surprises, some great news others not so good. One thing was for sure, the four friends stuck together, they always have and always will. Tomorrow would be another great day, waiting for fate to take its course.
Meet me by the seashore
Chapter 5:
Forgive and Forget
Day 4
Serena woke up before the sun came out, she got out of bed and went over to the balcony. She opened the doors and leaned on the railing. The ocean breeze was gently blowing, the scent of the salt floated in the wind. Serena took a deep breath in, she looked out into the distance. She loved it here, every moment was something spectacular and would never be forgotten.
As the sun began to rise, Serena was amazed by the array of red and orange in the sun. It was so beautiful, Serena had never seen anything like that in her entire life. She sighed as the sun finished rising, she went back into the bedroom. Darien was still fast asleep, and tucked under the covers. Serena went over by his side. He was snoring slightly, Serena couldn’t resist waking him up. She leaned down to him and kissed the corner of his lips. He opened his eyes; there stood his future wife leaning over him. Darien smiled as he pulled her closer to him. He whispered to her to lay back down a while. Serena complied and slipped back under the covers. Darien snuggled up to Serena, he put his arms around her. As he pressed his body against hers Serena smiled. She loved it when he did this, a warm feeling came over her. This would be the man she would be with the rest of her life.
Darien held to her tightly for several more hours. It was too early to get up, especially for an engaged couple. Serena drifted in and out of sleep. She was so comfortable lying there in bed with Darien. Serena couldn’t wait until the day they would be wed. Darien smiled at the sight of Serena sleeping. She looked so happy to him. He couldn’t wait until he could really make her happy.
Meanwhile… The alarm clock went off in Chad and Raye’s room. Chad rolled over and hit the snooze button. Raye opened her eyes and looked over at Chad. “Don’t you think you should see if Kali has left yet? If not, I think you need to escort her out.” Chad moved closer to Raye. “I will in a few minutes. I’ve got some things in mind first.” “Oh really Chad?” He nodded his head, “Yeah, sure do.” He moved as close as he could get beside of Raye. Chad kissed Raye’s cheek. He then started to kiss her lips, neck, and shoulders. Raye got Goosebumps when Chad kept kissing her neck. “Chad,” began Raye as she paused for a couple more of Chad’s kisses, “you should go check on Kali now.” “Ok, if it will make you happy.” “It would.”
So Chad slipped out of bed and headed down the hall to the extra bedroom. The door was shut, Chad opened it as quietly as he could. He didn’t want to wake her up if she was still asleep. When he went into the bedroom he found that the bed was made, but no one was in the room. On top of the pillow there was an envelope. Chad’s name was written on the outside of it. He cleared his throat and took a look at what was written on the piece of notebook paper stuck inside.
“ Chad,
Things seemed to have changed between us, somehow and someway. I guess that’s why you didn’t keep in touch. I don’t blame you though, your girlfriend seems like a real winner. Raye has a fiery spirit that’s for sure, but so do you. Chad, I’ve known you for a long time and whatever you’ve wanted you’ve gotten. Raye seems to be what you want instead of me. As much as I hate this, I have to let you go.
I need to confess something. I feel terrible about it, but you need to know the ENTIRE truth. I wasn’t raped the other night when you asked me to leave. I just made it up so that you would give me the chance to show you how much I love you. I know it was wrong, I was wrong to think that I could make you love me. It’s obvious that you don’t feel the same thing for me that I do for you.
Chad, I’ll always remember the good times we’ve shared and all the memories for what they were worth. Tell Serena I’m sorry about Crystal being so flirty with Darien. I know how happy Darien is with Serena, especially since they’re engaged. Crystal has been around me too long I guess. It’s just one of those things that happen, you fall in love but the person you love doesn’t love you back.
I’m so sorry for everything I’ve done to you. I never meant to hurt you in any way. Also, apologize to Raye for me. I would never want to hurt the one thing that means the most in your life. I hope that one day you can forgive me.
Sincerely,
Kali”
Chad couldn’t believe it, Kali had lied to his face about her being raped! That was something you shouldn’t joke around with. He was shocked that she would stoop to something like that. Chad had to admit he was glad she apologized, but still he couldn't understand why Kali would do that. He decided to just put his past behind him and focus completely on the present and future. Chad knew he wanted to ask Raye to marry him, and today might be the day.
Chad went back down the hall into the bedroom. Raye was reading her book. She closed the book when Chad came back in. Raye raised her eyebrow, "Well? Did she leave?" Chad nodded his head, "Yeah she left, I don't think she'll bother us anymore." Raye grew curious at what Chad just said. "What do you mean?" "Well, she left me a note telling the entire story. She wasn't raped, she only wanted to get my attention. Kali said unfortunately my attention was devoted to something else, you. She apologized to you for acting like she did, and apologized to Serena for Crystal." "Well, I'm glad she's gone." "I couldn't agree with you more," said Chad kissing Raye's cheek.
Raye appeared to be deep in thought. Chad wanted to know what was going on inside that mind of hers.
"Whatcha thinking about Raye?"
"Well, I was just thinking about Serena and Darien."
"What about them?" asked Chad.
"I wonder what's going to go on between them. Well, actually, I don't really want to know. But I guess its just the thought of your best friend getting married and well, moving on."
Chad tried to put it all together. "OH! I think I know what you're getting at."
"Yeah, I bet it'll be special. I mean, saving themselves for each other, how sweet!"
"Well Raye, they're not the only ones saving theirselves for someone."
"I know. I know." She kissed Chad. "One day, you'll be all mine," said Raye playfully.
Serena was still asleep close to 8 a.m. Darien didn't mind, since she was wrapped within his arms. He smiled at her sleeping. Darien took one hand and ran his fingers up and down her back. Serena slowly opened her eyes. She was still embraced in Darien's arms as she had been throughout the night and earlier in the morning. Serena leaned her head closer to Darien's. She kissed him as she was turning onto her stomach. She pressed her body against Darien's side, she threw her right arm over his stomach, and rested her head on Darien's shoulder.
"Serena, can I ask you something?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you want to wait until we're married?"
"For what?"
Darien looked at Serena. "OH!" Serena blushed. "It doesn't matter to me."
"It should matter to you, it takes two you know."
Serena giggled at Darien's comment.
"I'm serious Serena. I need to know," said Darien.
"Darien," she began, "I'm ready whenever you are."
Darien smiled, so did Serena.
"You sure?" he asked.
"Uh-huh, ready for anything as long as its with you."
Darien started to kiss Serena, all the while running his fingers down her side; it gave her goosebumps. He couldn't tear his mouth away from hers. Serena finally had to push him away slightly so she could get a breath of fresh air.
"You want it now?" asked Serena.
"Why not?"
Serena rolled her eyes. "Ok."
Darien pulled up the covers over them. Serena started to giggle. It didn't take long for Darien and Serena to continue kissing. Raye knocked on their door, but Serena and Darien didn't hear it. Raye opened the door, and saw a mound under the sheets. Darien sensed someone was there. He came out from under the covers, so did Serena.
"RAYE! What are you doing here?!"
"Umm... umm... I ....," said Raye trying to find words.
Darien slipped out of bed, he was still in his boxers. "If you don't mind, Raye, Serena and I are trying to spend some TIME together."
"I'm sorry to interupt and everything, but Chad is wanting everyone downstairs for breakfast."
"Fine, we'll be down in a minute," grumbled Darien.
Darien shut the door and went over to the bed. He sat down on the edge. "Why is it I can't be alone with you long enough to accomplish anything?" Serena smiled, "Don't worry Darien, it won't be much longer. I'll see to it." She sat up and crawled over to the edge. Serena hugged Darien's neck, and kissed his cheek. "I promise Darien." He smiled knowing that she always kept her promises to him.
They went downstairs with Raye and Chad. Darien and Serena sat down at the kitchen table and waited for Raye and Chad to finish with breakfast. Raye brought a plate full of eggs and bacon and a plate of toast over and set it down on the table. She sat down on the chair next to Serena. Chad sat next to Darien and across from Raye. Breakfast began with no one saying anything, until Raye spoke up.
"Look you guys, I'm really sorry about what happened while ago. I didn't mean to interupt anything that was going on."
"It's ok Raye, Serena and I were just goofing around. You didn't interupt anything too important."
"You sure Darien?" asked Raye.
"Yeah, it's cool."
"Good, I feel a lot better now."
"You know what we need?" asked Serena.
"What?" replied everyone else.
"A DO NOT DISTURB sign to hang on the door when we don't want to be interupted or distrubed."
"Good idea Serena," commented Darien.
"OH I know!" shouted Raye.
"What?" asked Serena.
"We can make heart shaped signs."
"That's original," said Chad.
"Serena and I can make them," said Raye.
"Uhh... yeah," said Serena.
Everyone finished up breakfast and helped in cleaning up afterwards. Raye was excited about the do not distrub signs. She was even more happier when she saw how well they turned out. They were in the shape of a heart with a hole in the middle to put onto the doorknob. On the heart it read clearly "DO NOT DISTURB!". Raye held up the heart and looked at it.
"I did a good job, didn't I?"
"Yeah Raye," said Chad.
"Well, Dare, I guess this one is yours and Serena's. Here's mine and Chad's."
"Thanks Raye," said Darien.
"Yeah, thanks Raye," added Serena.
Darien took the heart and started to head back upstairs. He grabbed Serena's hand. "Aren't you coming?" Serena gave a blank stare. "NOW?" "Yes now, when else do you think?" Serena tried to gather herself. "Ummm, I want to go get something from the store first, ok?" Darien grumbled but agreed it was ok to go. Serena asked Raye to please go with her. Raye had no idea what Serena was wanting to buy or what she was even doing leaving Darien when he wanted to go back upstairs. 'That Serena, *sigh* always wanting to do last minute shopping,' said Raye to herself as her and Serena left the beach house.
"Serena, what on earth are you doing?"
"Raye, do you have any idea what Darien wants to do?!"
"Yeah Serena, that's why I'm asking why you're leaving."
"Well, I wanted to wear something nice for him, and I didn't really expect to have to buy something so soon. You know? I mean, I at least thought closer to the wedding."
"Serena, he's a guy with Raging hormones right now, what ELSE would you expect?"
*Sigh* "I guess you're right Raye."
"I know I'm right. Now hurry up, let's go find you something to wear."
So Serena and Raye went into the nearby lingerie store. They looked around for something that Darien would like, but something Serena wouldn't mind wearing. Serena liked a pink gown that had little feathers around the edges; it was a thin teddy. Serena blushed when she first saw it, but couldn't help but like it. Serena bought it, her and Raye skipped happily toward the beach house. Of course, Serena didn't want a bag that read out "WHOA! SEXY LINGERIE IN HERE!", so she had went into another clothing store and asked for a bag. She put her gown into the other bag.
Raye and Serena walked in the door. Darien and Chad were sitting on the couches in their bathing suits with their shirts off. "Going somewhere?" asked Serena. The guys looked at each other, "Yeah we are. We're going swimming," said Chad. Serena stared at Darien, Darien could tell something was on Serena's mind.
"What's up Serena?"
Serena chuckled, "What are you talking about?"
"Serena, I know that expression on your face; what do you want?"
"Well...," Serena began, "I thought you and I could spend the afternoon alone."
Darien looked over at Chad, "Care to swim later today? It seems as though Serena wants to do something else right now."
"It's ok Dare. I'm sure Raye wouldn't mind some time alone with me."
Raye blushed, "It's quite alright by me."
Darien looked at Serena, she couldn't help but blush from the look he gave her. "Wanna talk upstairs, Serena?" Darien asked her.
"Yeah, sure."
So Darien and Serena excused themselves from Raye and Chad. Raye watched anxiously as Darien followed Serena up the stairs. 'Little does he know what she's got planned,' Raye thought to herself. Chad wondered what was going on between Dare and Serena. He had a pretty good idea though. Chad knew that he needed to ask Raye to marry him soon. Maybe this was the time to do it once and for all.
Serena put the bag on the bed and sat down. She wiped the sweat that began to roll down her face. She seemed to be excessively nervous about something, and Darien was going to find out what it was. He shut the door behind him and walked over to where Serena was sitting on the bed. Darien sat on the bed behind Serena and began to massage her shoulders. She was certainly tense about something. Serena closed her eyes as her mind began to wonder on how to create the perfect atmosphere. Darien moved closer to Serena's body, he could see she was deep in thought about something. Although she loosened up, Darien hadn't seen her so uptight about something. He leaned in, he kissed her neck. Serena opened her eyes and slowly shut them again. She tilted her head toward Darien. He moved closer to her lips, which were now begging to be kissed. 'One thing about her, whatever she wants Serena gets,' thought Darien to himself. 'Hmmm, now what do I do?' asked Serena over and over in her mind.
Darien was getting quite uncomfortable just sitting there on the bed kissing. Slowly he pulled Serena and himself completely on the bed. Darien landed on the bag Serena had brought upstairs with her. It began to agrivate Darien's back. He rolled over and sat up. Serena opened her eyes, wandering what she had done to make Darien stop kissing.
"What's in the bag, Serena?"
"OH! Nothing!" Serena reached for the bag.
Darien grabbed Serena's arm. "Something MUST be in the bag, or you wouldn't want it so badly." He started to open the bag.
"Darien, please don't look." Serena gritted her teeth. She didn't want him to see her surprise.
Darien's eyes were wide as he saw what Serena bought. Serena took her outfit out of Darien's hands.
"It was suppose to be a surprise, but you just ruined it."
"I'm sorry Serena. You can still surprise me. PLEASE surprise me!" Darien blushed while begging for his forgiveness.
Serena rolled her eyes at Darien. "It's just not the same."
Darien dropped to his knees in front of Serena, "PLEASE Serena!"
Meanwhile...
Chad and Raye had moved out into the porch to talk. Raye was talking away about her and Serena shopping and how clueless Serena seemed to be. Chad wasn't really paying her any attention, his mind was focused on when and how he was going to ask Raye to marry him. He gazed out upon the ocean, the afternoon sunlight was dancing on the tips of the waves. That's when it hit Chad- he knew EXACTLY how he was going to ask Raye to marry him. Chad smiled widely, while Raye looked at Chad dumbfounded. 'What is that boy thinking about? He's hardly ever THAT happy. He better be thinking about me!' said Raye to herself.
"Chad, why all of a sudden are you smiling so hugely?"
"To tell you the truth Raye, I was thinking of something extra special just for you."
Raye smiled, "Oh really?!"
"Uh-huh, but you're going to have to wait til sunset."
"Sunset? Why sunset?" asked Raye.
"Because my angel, wonderful things happen at sunset."
Raye giggled at the way Chad had said that. Chad smiled and stood up out of the chair. He leaned down and kissed Raye. She didn't mind his kiss, but she wondered what it was for, and what he was up to. Whenever Chad had something on his mind, he was going to get it.
Chad walked back into the living room trying to figure out what Serena and Darien were going to do later on that night. He needed some advice before the BIG moment arrived. Chad really needed Darien's advice on this kind of stuff, he was much better than Chad was about romantic episodes.Chad knew how much Darien made Serena swoon. He wanted to make sure that Raye would "swoon" just as much as Serena did for Darien when he asked her to marry him.
As much as he didn't want to, Chad walked upstairs and knocked on Darien and Serena's bedroom door. Some fast disco music was playing loudly in the background but Chad could hear Serena giggle uncontrollably, he hoped he wasn't interupt anything. Chad knocked on the door again. He heard Darien finally say, "I'm coming," and turned down the music. Darien opened the door to find Chad standing there sheepishly. Darien didn't fully open the door, Chad had many ideas of what Darien was probably doing but he didn't want to be any longer than he needed to be.
"Yeah Chad?"
"I'm sorry about this man, but uh I need to talk to you."
"Sure, what about?"
"I didn't interupt you and Serena did I?" asked Chad since Darien didn't have his shirt on.
"Well, not really. We were just goofing around like ususal. So, what's on your mind Chad?"
"Can we go somewhere privately and talk?"
Darien ran his fingers through his jet black hair. "Serena, could you go downstairs for a little while? Chad wants to talk about something."
Serena came over to the door, wearing a pale pink robe. Chad tried not to stare.
"Hi Chad. Yeah sure, I'll go downstairs and find something yummy to eat."
"Thanks Serena," said Chad averting his eyes away from Serena.
"Sure, no prob," said Serena as she kissed Darien's cheek and left.
Serena left the room as Chad and Darien walked inside to talk. She yawned as she walked downstairs. Serena found Raye beaming with delight. As soon as Raye saw Serena in a robe she immediately put on a blank stare.
"WHAT RAYE?!"
"Why are you wear-- OH my GOD SERENA! You already....!??!?!?!"
Serena raised her eyebrows, "What are you talking about Raye?!"
"Oh 'cmon Serena, you know what I'm talking about. Have you, well... you know, done it yet?"
"Raye, I can't believe you're asking me such things!"
"SERENA tell me!" exclaimed Raye.
"Well, we were getting ready to when Chad had to knock on the door. Somehow you guys always seem to interupt at the most inconvient times."
"I'm sorry Serena, I'm sure Chad had something important to talk to Darien about. He looked like he was about to explode from excessive happiness."
"What from Raye?"
"I dunno Serena, we were just sitting on the porch and then... *WHAM!* he was smiling hugely and then kissed me, and then headed upstairs."
"You think... could it be... he's going to ask you?"
"Ask me what Meatball head?"
"THE QUESTION!"
"The question? OH! THE question," Raye finally said.
*drop* - Serena
"Ok, obviously I'm not the only blonde in this room," teased Serena.
Raye stook her tongue out at Serena, "Well, anyway, I sure do hope so. I mean, I love the guy and want to spend the rest of my life with him."
Serena smiled as her best friend continued talking about Chad and how much she loved him. After all they had known each other for quite a while, and dated off and on for several years before going steady for 8 months. Eight months didn't seem very long to Serena, but she knew Raye was right. Raye was ready for marriage, Serena knew that Raye could handle it. Raye felt the same about Serena, she knew Darien and Serena were destined to be together. Although Serena was a ditz, Raye was atonished by Serena and Darien's chemistry together. Never before had Serena been so passionate about something she loved.
The girls continued talking until Darien and Chad walked downstairs. Darien had put on a t shirt since Serena last saw him. Chad blushed when he saw Serena was still in her little pink robe. He cleared his throat and asked Raye if she wanted to go for a long walk on the beach. Raye's eyes twinkled as she said yes. Serena hoped that Chad was going to ask Raye to marry him, she would hate if Raye got her hopes up so much and then nothing happen.
Raye and Chad walked out of the beach house hand in hand. It was getting late in the afternoon, and the tide was rolling out. Serena watched anxiously from the porch as Chad and Raye walked up the shoreline. She sighed and sat on the couch, Darien walked out to where his sweetie was. He sat down next to her and wrapped his arms around her body. Serena gazed at Darien with her bright blue eyes. They were screaming "KISS ME!" and sending chills down Darien's spine. He gave in to his passion, he knew that tonight would be the night.
*****************************************************************************************
On the beach...
Chad clinched Raye's hand as they continued up the shoreline. Raye was wondering why he wasn't saying very much. Earlier he seemed to have something wonderful on his mind, but now his mind seemed to be elsewhere. Raye looked over at Chad who was muttering words to himself. 'Has he gone insane?' asked Raye to herself. Chad saw Raye's look out of the corner of his eye, he knew she suspected he was up to some master plan. Chad laughed at himself, Raye soon joined in.
The sun was beginning to set and the moon was ready to shine. It would be a glorious night, Chad knew he had to do it soon. They arrived at the beach pier. It was long and extended several hundred feet onto the ocean. Chad pulled Raye over to the stairs that led up to the pier. "What do you want to do on the pier Chad?" asked Raye, but Chad didn't answer. Raye asked him again what he wanted to do on the pier; again he led her closer to the end of the pier and never said a word. Raye was starting to worry a little bit. Chad always had an answer for everything, now he was ignoring her!
The sky had turned a lovely shade of pink with purple highlights. What few rays of sunlight that were left glistened on the ocean waves. Chad took a moment to catch his breath. 'I wonder if he brought me out here to watch the sunset...' thought Raye. Chad, who was still holding Raye's hand, let it go. He walked up the the banster on the pier. Chad leaned on the railing then looked back at Raye, he smiled. Chad turned toward Raye.
"Raye, I want you to know how much you mean to me."
"I know Chad."
"No, you don't understand that you're what makes tomorrow worth waking up for, you give me life, you give me hope, and most importantly you ARE my fire."
"Chad-" Raye begin before Chad interupted her.
"Please, let me finish." He took his finger and touched Raye's lips. She smiled at his gesture.
Chad continued on, "Raye, I know for a fact that I couldn't stand to not be with you. It's hard enough for me to close my eyes at night because I'm afraid you might not be there when I wake up. I love you with all my heart, and I never want to give you up."
Raye's eyes began to swell up with tears.
"Raye, Darien and I had no idea that we would both do this about the same time, but I want you to marry me."
Raye hugged Chad as he pulled out his velvet jewerly box that held the ring. It was beautiful, the diamonds were arranged in a heart shape. The ring sparkled, as did Raye's eyes. She was overwhelmed, her dream had come true! Their embrace seemed to last an eternity. To them, no one else was in their world, no one else mattered.
The moon shone bright upon Chad and Raye. The two started to walk back toward Chad's beach house. Chad wrapped his arm around Raye's waist and held her close to his body. Chad was so estatic, Darien's suggestion about the beach walk then proposing on the pier worked. 'I'm was so lucky to have Raye as my girlfriend, and now I'm lucky enough to have her as my wife.' said Chad in his mind.
No words could express what Chad and Raye felt arriving back at the house. Raye was grinning ear to ear, as was Chad. Raye immediately screamed for Serena to come downstairs as soon as she walked inside. Serena grumbled as she slowly walked down the stairs followed by Darien.
"What is it Raye?" asked Serena as she yawned. Darien walked up behind Serena and wrapped his arms around her.
"We're engaged!" exclaimed Raye.
Darien smiled and congratulated Chad. Raye leapt over to Serena and hugged her tightly.
"That's so wonderful Raye! I'm so happy that you and Chad are FINALLY engaged!"
Chad spoke up, "It's not like you and Darien have been engaged THAT much longer than us."
Darien laughed then he congratulated Raye. "Congrats Raye!"
"Thanks Darien," said Raye as she hugged him.
"This is so cool that we're all engaged now!" blurted out Serena.
"If it's all with you Darien, and of course you too Serena, I'd like to be alone with Raye for the rest of tonight," said Chad.
Raye blushed, as did Serena. Serena began to giggle, thinking that she knew what Chad was up to. Darien ran his hand through his hair, "That sounds like a plan to me, I have some unfinished business of my own." Darien looked down into Serena's eyes, she was now beaming with delight!
"So, uh, I guess let's eat supper together, than we just won't plan on seeing each other until tomorrow," suggested Raye.
"Sounds great to me, I'm starved!" stated Serena.
So the four friends ordered delivery pizza. Serena complained that they didn't order any breadsticks. Raye teased her that she didn't need to gain any more weight. Laughter filled the beach house, jokes were being told, crazy comments were said, and Darien, Chad, Serena, and Raye were all enjoying themselves. Raye and Chad were the first ones through, and Darien was surprised Serena wasn't stuffing her face as fast as Raye did. Chad laughed at what Darien had said about his girlfriend, Raye certainly had been around Serena too long.
Raye and Chad went into their bedroom and shut the door. Raye peeped back out the door and hung the little DO NOT DISTURB sign she and Serena made on the doorknob. Serena rolled her eyes and finished up her pizza. "Are you going to eat that piece, Darien?" "No Serena, you can have it." Serena took advantage of every opportunity to take free food! Darien placed his chin on his hand as he watched Serena finish eating.
Darien sighed as he got out of his chair. He walked over beside of Serena. Darien leaned down and kissed Serena's neck. "C'mon Serena," whispered Darien into Serena's ear. He offered her his hand, she stood up and smiled. Darien wrapped one arm around her waist and managed to pick Serena up. She giggled as he carried her up the stairs.
Once up the stairs and in their bedroom, Darien gently put Serena on the bed. He kissed her soft lips, then turned on some soft romantic music. Serena's cheeks were rosy from all of her blushing. She smiled as Darien put their DO NOT DISTURB sign on the doorknob and closed the door. The night was very promising to both couples. It would be a night to remember forever.
Meet me by the Seashore
Chapter 6:
Sweet Memories
Day 5
Raye opened her eyes slowly as she felt something soft nibbling on her ear; she turned her head to see Chad grinning. She of course couldn't help but smile.Chad stretched out his arm to pull Raye in closer toward him. Raye had managed to escape from his strong embrace something during the early morning. Chad couldn't believe Raye, she was.... like an animal. 'Geez, I can't believe this is the same Raye as last night. She was so fiery, even thoughout the night, now she's so quiet, so caught up by life.' He smiled as she slipped out of bed, he could once again admire her "true" figure.
"Do you have to watch me dress?" Raye asked as she put on her purple robe. Chad sat up, "Well Fiery one, is that all you have to say, last night I recall you being more vocal than you are now." Raye turned away, she was engulfed by her blushes. For the first time in her relationship with Chad she didn't have anything to say back o him. Chad laughed as he too decided it was time to get out of bed. He walked over to Raye, kissed her cheek and put on his jeans. Together they walked into the kitchen, Serena and Darien were already awake and started breakfast.
"I can't believe you haven't burnt it yet," joked Raye. Serena took the spatula and popped Raye's butt. "Take that, no one talks about MY pancakes! And I haven't BURNT them!!" Raye grabbed the other spatula, the two girls began to pretend sword fight. They wound up fighting in the living room.
"WHAT are you two doing? And... what's that smell?"asked Darien. Serena sniffed the air, "OH NO!" She quickly ran back into the kitchen. Darien, Chad, and Raye all looked at each other wondering what was wrong when they heard Serena began to wail. Darien, soon followed by Raye and Chad went to find what happened. There, they found Serena crying, scrapping burnt pancakes onto a plate.
"I told you you'd burn them.I'm surprised you didn't catch the house on fire. Just be glad you had the burner on low." "You're so mean Raye!" screamed Serena. "Geez Serena, you don't need to yell at me I'm not the one who burnt breakfast." "Just leave me alone for once," Serena said before running up to her room. Chad looked over at Raye, "What Chad? She's so sensitive, I was only joking." Chad shook his head, Darien looked at Raye, "Maybe Serena is sensitive, but why do you always have to pick on her, she was trying her best to make those for you and Chad." Darien walked out of the room and went to go after Serena.
Serena had run upstairs out onto the balcony. She leaned on the railing and gazed at the ocean. Darien walked up quietly behind her placing his arms around her body, he gently kissed the side of neck. Serena turned her head to Darien, "Why is she so mean to me? Just once can't she compliment me on something?" Serena sighed, knowing that it would be impossible.Darien kissed her cheek and tried to comfort her, "You know she doesn't mean it Serena. I don't think she even knows how much she hurts you by always picking on you. You and Raye should talk about it." Darien tightened his embrace on Serena, "But one thing is for sure." "What's that?" asked Serena. "It's the fact that I love you and always will." Serena leaned her head against Darien's chest, "I know, I know."
Knock, knock, knock. Serena and Darien turned to the door to see Raye leaning against it. Darien looked at Serena, "Talk it out, I'll be downstairs waiting." He kissed her lips and left Raye and Serena alone to talk. Serena turned back toward the ocean. Raye walked further into the room, "Serena, listen..." Serena turned to Raye, "No you listen Raye.It never fails, you always make fun of everything I do, nothing is good enough for you, Raye. I wanted us to get through this week without you fussing at me for screwing something up. I'm sorry I'm not as perfect as you." Serena crossed her arms and blinked her eyes continously trying to contain her tears from purging through. Raye couldn't believe Serena actually yelled at her, just because she said something about pancakes?! "Just forget it Serena," Raye turned around and stormed out the door.
Raye came downstairs flushed and appearing to be holding back tears, Chad looked up from his and Darien's conversation. "What's wrong Raye?" "His dumb girlfriend! That Serena, she makes me so mad! I can't stand her!" Raye stomped her foot and headed to the porch. Chad and Darien looked at each. "I wonder what Serena said to make Raye so mad." "I dunno Chad, but I'm sure it's been on Serena's mind a long time," said Darien. Chad went onto the porch and Darien headed upstairs.
"Raye, are you okay, sweetie?" asked Chad. Raye just stared out into space, Chad waved his hand infront of her face. Raye made eye contact with him, "I asked if you were okay, Raye." "Does it look like I'm okay?! I can't stand Serena, why did she even come with us on this trip?! She shouldn't be here!" Raye began to break down into tears, Chad enfolded his girlfriend as she cried into his chest. "Everything will be okay Raye, I promise."
Meanwhile... Serena laid on the bed clutching to her pillow. She was glad she told Raye how she felt about her always making jokes, but Serena felt guilty for upsetting Raye. Darien appeared at the doorway, Serena caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of her eye. She quickly dried her eyes and sat up. "What happened between you two? Raye looked steamed," asked Darien. "She's not the only one," replied Serena. "So... whatcha say?" "I said what I felt, I stuck up for my feelings for once. But Darien, I don't think I should have. The moment I said those things her heart broke, I can tell." "Oh Serena, I'm sure you guys just need to spend time alone away from each other." "How much more time apart do we need on this vacation? I've been with you more than her!" Darien sighed, she was right about that. "But I guess another day with you is what I need to take my mind off of things." "Exactly Serena. Now come on, let's go out and do something."
Serena agreed and went into the bathroom to change clothes and to freshen up since she had been crying. Darien went downstairs to wait on her. Chad came over and sat down beside him on the couch. "What's happening between the girls?" "Your guess is as good as mine, Chad." "Well, whatever it is I'm sick of those two always getting into petty arguements about nonsense." "I agree Chad, but let's let them work it out, it's not our problem, they need some time to set things straight." Chad nodded his head, he knew Darien was right about Serena and Raye.
As Serena came downstair she didn't really think she should spend her day with Darien. It's not that she didn't want to spend every minute with Darien, it's just that her and her best friend were no longer on speaking terms or she didn't think so anyway. Serena sighed as Darien motioned her to hurry up out the door.
"C'mon Serena," said Darien as he opened the door. "When you guys going to be back?" asked Chad. Darien looked at Serena, "Probably not until late tonight, so you and Raye do whatever you want." "Ok, then, bye guys." "Bye Chad," said Serena.
Darien drove Serena and himself to the nearby park, all the way there Serena looked down at her hands on her lap. He parked the car and went to open Serena's door, but Serena opened the door herself and stepped out. Darien looked at Serena, she looked as though she was going to burst out in tears. Gently, Darien took Serena by the hand and led her down the park path. "Where are we headed, Darien?" "I dunno yet, we're just walking for now." "Oh," said Serena as she lowered her head down. Darien stopped walking, and looked at Serena who again seemed to be crying.
"Serena, look at me," Darien placed his finger under Serena's chin and pulled it up so he could look her into the eyes. "You can't keep this to yourself, please, tell me everything." Serena couldn't handle it anymore, she broke down into tears. Darien took her in his arms as she softly cried into his chest. He wrapped his arms around her body and pulled her closer. Serena knew that everything would be okay as long as she had Darien by her side. This was her future husband, he understood everything that went on inside of her mind.
Through her tears, Serena glanced up at Darien. She smiled slightly as he wiped her tears away. "I love you so much Darien." Darien smiled, "And I love you, Serena." They sealed their emotions with a single kiss. "We'll always be together," said Darien. Serena nodded her head as she added, "Until the end of time!"
Meanwhile.....
"Raye, sweetie," began Chad as he walked over to the bed where Raye had laid crying,"care to talk about it?" Raye sat up as she wiped the smudged make up off her face. She took a deep breath and stared at Chad. "Chad, where did I go wrong? I thought Serena and I were close. What happened between us that makes us fight all the time? Is it me?" Chad sat down beside of his girlfriend, "It's not you." He slowly wrapped one arm around and pulled her in closer to his body. Everything will work out, I promise." Raye went into Chad's arms willingly as he held her close. She closed her eyes and began to think.
'What did happen between Serena and me? I mean, I thought we were really close, I still believe we are, but why, why can't we get through a single week without arguing?!!?!' Chad smiled, "Raye, I know you and Serena have been through alot together, from surviving high school, to proms and parties, to endless hours of shopping sprees, I think you guys can get through this." Raye giggled slightly. "In fact, Raye, I have faith in you two's friendship. It's been dragged through worse situations. Spend today with me and later, you and Serena go talk."
Raye fell back onto the bed and stared up at the ceiling. She let out a small sigh as she turned her head toward Chad. "Well?" he asked. She looked back up toward the ceiling. "I guess I have no choice, I mean, she's the only BEST friend I have besides you of course. You're right, we've stuck together so far and I shouldn't let something like this tear us apart." She smiled as she continued to stare up at the ceiling.
Chad fell back just as Raye had done. He leaned over and whispered how much he loved her into Raye's ear. Raye giggled as she turned onto her side, "Well Chad, you haven't really said much about last night. I mean, I thought you wanted to wait." Chad was caught off guard by Raye's comment. "Huh?...," Chad tried to gain his composure, "well, you know me, when I see something I want I gotta have it. It just happened to be you last night." Raye blushed as the two climbed back under the covers.
"Thanks Darien," said Serena who was just handed a cone of ice cream. "No problem, anything for my angel." He wrapped his arm around her as they continued to walk through the park. Serena took a small bite, it wasn't long before Darien started laughing.
"What? What's so funny all of a sudden?" asked Serena.
Darien just kept laughing.
"OOOoooo, now don't you start with me Darien Chiba Shields."
"Sorry Serena, I couldn't help it."
"WHAT?!?!" exclaimed Serena.
Darien took a deep breath before saying, "You have vanilla ice cream on the end of your nose."
"HUH?" Serena crossed her eyes trying to see the ice cream at the end of her nose.
Darien started to laugh even harder.
"Well, I'm glad you find me so amusing," said Serena as she wiped the ice cream away.
"Here, let me, you missed a smudge." Darien gently wiped Serena's nose. "There, all better."
"Thanks, I guess..."
"What, don't I get a kiss for helping you?" asked Darien.
"Uhh, let me think.... No."
"OOO, and why not?" asked Darien as he stopped walking.
"Because, you laughed at me."
"ME? LAUGHING? Serena, I don't know what your talking about," Darien said in his most angelic voice.
"Don't play Mr. Angel, I know the REAL you Darien Shields," replied Serena.
"You only know the half of it, young lady..." said Darien.
Serena smiled and started walking again, Darien shook his head and caught up with her. He held out his hand which Serena took gladly. Darien smiled as he and Serena continued their walk. The park was beautiful today, the sun was shining bright and the sky was a brillant shade of blue. The perfect day for a couple to stroll around the park. They came up on the little kid section of the park where they have swings, jungle gyms, sandboxes, all the toys kids like to play with. Darien saw the look in Serena's eye as they walked past the swings.
"Serena, I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, but do you want to swing?" "Oh yeah!" With that Serena ran back to the swings. She sat down in the middle one and started swinging. She moved her legs back and forth making the swing go higher and higher. Darien stood there watching Serena act like a child, he couldn't help but chuckle. He came up carefully behind Serena, making sure she didn't hit him with the swing. As she came back Darien gave Serena a little push. "WEeeeeee, Make it go higher Darien!" "As you wish," said Darien as he gave another hard push.
They continued to swing and play at the kiddy land for a while, until it started to turn into late afternoon. "Darien, I'm having lots of fun and all but I wanna go back." "Why Serena?" Serena sat down on the park bench and looked down at her hands.
"What's up Serena?"
"Well," began Serena,"You got me thinking. I mean, about Raye and all."
"Oh, well, what about?" asked Darien.
"I remember the day Raye and I met. I was with Molly, we went to Cherry Hill temple to check about some good luck charms. Raye went spastic and flung one of her scrolls on me. For some strange reason, we became fast friends. I'm sure we've done about everything best friends could do together. We've had slumber parties, double dates, spent holidays together, helped each other in school, but through everything it all managed to work out." Serena stared up toward the sky.
"Yeah, I know whatcha mean. You know what?" asked Darien.
"What?"
"I believe you and Raye will find a way to sort out this difference in opinion or whatever the hell it is."
Serena giggled, "Yeah, I think we will too. Maybe tonight we can talk it out over some nice French Vanilla or something. Yeah, that's it, Oh maybe we can even go to the ice cream parlor, I could really go for anothe Triple Scoop of icecream!"
Darien laughed, "I think you want to be friends again so you can celebrate with Food!"
Serena smiled, "So?"
"My Meatball head.....never change."
"You know I won't."
Darien and Serena decided to head back to the beach house before it got any later. It was almost 4. The day had past by so quickly, it seemed moments ago that Serena awoke beside Darien all cuddled together. She smiled, remembering that sweet memory. Darien hung onto Serena all the way to the house and into the living room. Serena looked around for Chad and Raye, she was anxious to speak to Raye about their "mishap" earlier.
Darien went into the kitchen area and saw over a dozen candles of all shapes and sizes spread out on the table, around the sink, anywhere there was a spot. He raised an eyebrow, wondering what Chad and Raye were up to. Although, it wasn't really any of his business, Darien was curious about what Chad and Raye spent the day doing. Obviously they had shared a nice romantic dinner or were going to. 'Maybe, Serena and I should just go upstairs for the rest of the night. I mean, I know how bad it sucks to be interupted.'
Darien wondering back to the living room to find Serena sitting on the stairs."Darien," Serena whispered," I think we should go upstairs." "Why?" asked Darien softly. "Because, look what I found." Serena picked up Raye's Purple bra from the floor. Darien turned red, "Oh, yeah, that's what I was going to tell you. There's tons of candles in the kitchen and I didn't know if we should intrude." "C'mon then," said Serena as she head upstairs tip-toeing.
Darien peeked around the stairs and saw that Raye had put her DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door. 'Hmm, I guess they didn't waste any time.' Darien said to himself as he walked upstairs. By the time he was in his and Serena's bedroom, Serena was sprawled out on the bed looking though a photo album.
"Whatcha looking at?" asked Darien as he sat down next to Serena.
"I saw this lying on the desser drawer and decided to look through it."
Serena turned the page, "Look Darien, it's Chad when he first went to kindergarten. Oh, he's so cute!"
"Yeah, hey look, I can't believe he kept that one!" Darien pointed to a picture of him and Chad when what appears to be around 7 or 8 years old. They were at the beach flexing their "Muscles" infront of the ocean.
"OH Darien, you and Chad are adorable together! What big muscles you have!" Serena grabbed onto Darien's arm feeling his muscles. Darien smiled as he flexed for her.
"See Serena, Chad and I have stayed friends for what seems like forever. You and Raye are the same way, you guys are probably a whole lot more closer than Chad and I are though. But still, tomorrow, you and her talk it out, ok?"
"I promise... speaking of Raye and Chad, I wonder what they're up to. I haven't heard them so I guess we haven't disturbed whatever it is they're doing."
"No telling with them, I guess they're like us in a way. They just can't wait!"
Serena giggled, "Yeah, I guess so."
Serena stretched her body as she sat up on the bed, Darien smiled and admired her. Serena noticed she was being watched. She raised her eyebrow as she saw Darien staring at her with a huge smile on his face. She looked on her, looking for some reason Darien was staring so hard at her body. Serena crossed her eyes making sure nothing was on the end of her nose. Darien started to laugh, Serena uncrossed her eyes and looked at Darien trying to cover his laughter.
"What now?" asked Serena.
Darien shook his head, "Nothing Serena, I was just admiring you until you crossed your eyes."
"Oh, I thought I had something stuck on me the way you were looking."
Darien leaned closer to Serena, "Can't I just stare at your body?"
Serena blushed a shade of red, "I don't mind," she cleared her throat. "As long as I get to see your nice bod," she muttered under her breath.
"What was that last thing you said?" asked Darien curiously.
"OHHHHhh, nothing," said Serena trying to cover up.
"Alright if you say so."
"So, I guess we should stay upstairs for a while, shouldn't we?" asked Serena.
"Yeah, I would think so seeing how we don't want to disturb whatever it is Raye and Chad are up to."
Serena nodded her head in agreement, she closed the photo album and walked over to the balcony. Serena walked out onto the balcony and gazed out at the ocean. The sun was beginning to set now and the sky was lit up by a gorgeous selection of orange, pink, purple and blue. The stars would soon be out and Serena's favorite, the MOON, would shine its light over the Earth. Darien soon joined her as they watched the sun set together; it was something they would remember for years to come.
"Serena, you want to go out to the diner and grab something quick to eat?" asked Darien when he heard her stomach roar loudly. "Yeah, I was wondering when you'd ask about dinner? I was beginning to starve. C'mon, let's go, but remember to be quiet when we go downstairs."
Serena and Darien tip-toed downstairs as quietly as they could, but Raye and Chad were already in the living room lying on the couch together watching tv. Raye was asleep on Chad, but he was wide awake when Serena almost tripped coming down the stairs.
Chad looked at Raye who was still asleep, thank goodness, and whispered to Darien and Serena, "Hey, where you two going? I thought you were still gone."
Serena replied, "Well, we came home and made sure not to disturb you and Raye. I was getting hungry so we decided to go catch a bite to eat."
Chad shook his head, "Sounds like a good plan to me."
"So, you guys already have dinner then?" asked Darien.
"Yeah, but all Raye kept talking about was you Serena. You guys really need to work this out."
"I am, I promise. It's really bothering me too, but I'm going to wait until later tonight or either tomorrow."
"Oh ok, well you two have fun," said Chad.
"Thanks, you and Raye have fun too!" exclaimed Darien as quietly as he could.
Darien and Serena tip-toed out the door and jumped into Darien's porsche. They drove to the local Diner and had a nice dinner just talking about the first time they met and all the trouble they both went through trying to make the other one like them.
Meanwhile....
Raye opened her eyes and yawned, all the while Chad was holding her close on the couch. She turned to Chad who was watching her. She smiled and looked around the room, "Haven't Serena and Darien came back yet? It's getting late." Raye sat up and looked back at Chad.
"Well, they came back sometime, I guess we were in the bedroom or something. Then they came down a little bit ago to go out to eat."
"Oh," said Raye,"I thought Serena and I might have talked tonight, I guess not."
"She said she wanted to talk to you before she and Darien left," said Chad.
"Really? So, she still wants us to be friends? Even after all she said to me?"
"Yeah, I mean, she said it had been on he mind all day and that she wanted the two of you to talk tonight or tomorrow."
Raye smiled, "I'm glad."
Raye got up from the couch and looked down at Chad who was still relaxed. She shook her head as she went out onto the porch. The night had arrived, and Raye was happy knowing that she and Serena could still be friends. Raye walked outside, just a few feet away from the screened porch; the stars were the brightest Raye had seen in a long time. "The stars are sparkling with delight! And, the moon is full of happiness, I can feel its glow shine down on me. Oh Serena, I'm sorry you and I fought this weekend, it just..." Raye began to trail off as a tear rolled down her cheek, "I love you so much, you're a sister I never had. I think its just we're so much alike yet so different we fight over stupid things. I'm sure you feel the same way..." Raye looked back up at the moon, she thought she even saw a shooting star fly by. She sighed as she continued talking into the night air, "I'm so happy right now, you and Darien are engaged, as am I with Chad. I want us to be friends again because I want to share my happiness with my BEST friend in the entire world, no, my best friend in the ENTIRE galaxy, past and future." She smiled once more up toward the moon before going back inside.
*****************************************************************************************
"I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! DON'T EVER COME NEAR ME AGAIN! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!?!?!?!?!?!!" Serena awoke violently from her nightmare, she was breathing heavy and tried to understand what she dreamt about. It was her and Raye in what seems to be in the future. Serena had just borne Chibi-usa (RINI) and for some odd reason Raye had became very upset at Serena. She had tried to reason out Raye's anger, but nothing worked. Darien even tried to calm her down, but still nothing worked. Serena blow up at Raye, she had screamed at her to stay away and how much she Truly hated Raye. It was then Serena awoke....
"Serena, are you ok?" asked Darien as he woke up from Serena tossing and turning. He saw fear on Serena's face, "Serena, answer me!" Darien sat up and clenched Serena's shoulders. Slowly, Serena faced Darien, tears were streaming down her face. Before Darien could say another word Serena wrapped her arms as tightly as she could around Darien. He ran his fingers through her hair that was now out of her "meatballs". "Darien, I need to talk to Raye right now," Serena insisted.
"Why, what happened?" "I just need to talk to Raye." Serena jumped out of bed, grabbed her pink robe and ran downstairs.
*POW!* Serena had collided into something just as she turned the corner to go into Raye's room. Serena sat up rubbing her head that now throbbed with pain.
"RAYE?!"
"SERENA?"
"What are you doing here?"
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"
"I had a dream," said Serena.
"Me too, more like night mare," added Raye.
Serena stood up and cut the hall light on. "You had a dream, too?"
"Yup, it really upset me and I couldn't wait another minute to talk to you."
"Same here," Serena tried to giggle, "well, I guess this means we talk."
Serena went into the kitchen and fixed two cups of fresh French Vanilla. "Here you go," she said as she handed Raye her cup. "Thanks," said Raye taking a sip. Raye looked at Serena, she smiled slightly as she took another sip. Serena smiled back and sipped on her French Vanilla.
"Yeah, I really wanted to talk to you about earlier today," said Serena, putting her cup down on the coffee table.
Raye sat down on the couch next to Serena, "Me too, it's pretty weird we want to talk at the same time tonight, I mean this morning since it's 1 am."
Serena giggled, "Yeah, I agree. Raye, I'm so sorry about everything, I never meant to say those things to you, I was just aggrivated."
"You have every right to be Serena, I'm sorry too."
"WHY?"
"Well, I do pick and tease on you alot. You gotta understand even though I may seem mean to you, I only tease you because you're my best friend and you mean the world to me."
Serena smiled, "Well, I know I'm kinda sensitive at times but I do understand. I hope this doesn't come between our friendship."
"Never," said Raye as she hugged Serena. Serena sighed a little sigh as she stood up.
"Serena, is there anything on your mind you want to share, might as well since we're already up?"
Serena walked over to the porch, she opened the door and walked out onto the screened in room. She sat down on the rocking chair and began to rock as she stared out at the ocean. Raye followed, not quite sure what was bothering Serena. She sat down on the couch and looked at Serena. 'Serena looks like she's about to cry, I wonder what's wrong,' Raye thought to herself.
"Serena, tell me what's bothering you."
Serena didn't say anything, she just kept her gaze on the ocean.
Raye sighed, "Serena, you can't keep it to yourself, please tell me."
Serena turned toward Raye, "I... I feel like... I feel like I've ruined your whole vacation."
"Ruin? Why would you think such a thing?" asked Raye.
"Because, I mean, you haven't been able to spend time with Chad for yelling, worrying, hanging out with me."
"Serena, this week so far has been the best in my life."
"It HAS?" asked Serena puzzled.
"Uh-huh, see...Darien and you got engaged, Chad and I got engaged, you and I realize how special our riendship is, that's all I ever wanted in life."
A tear rolled down Serena's cheek, she wiped it off as she smiled at Raye.
"You're such a crybaby, Meatball head."
"I know, PYRO."
The girls giggled and talked for a while, trying to catch up on everything they've missed together. After an hour of chatting they finally said goodnight and headed to bed to greet their love of a lifetime. This day was not perfect by no means, but everyone created more memories that would live in their hearts;Sweet Memories that would be cherished for forever and a lifetime.
Meet Me By the Seashore
Chapter 7
IT'S TOO EARLY!
Day 6
Serena awoke early that Saturday morning, she just couldn't sleep any longer. She turned toward Darien who was fast asleep; Serena smiled and brushed a strand of jet black hair away from his face. She loved him so much and knew that he loved her just the same. Serena got a warm feeling all over her body just thinking that she would be able to wake up next to this man for the rest of her life.
She wondered if anyone else was up at 5 am, probably not but it wouldn't matter because she was going to find out. Carefully, she tip-toed downstairs over to Raye and Chad's room. As quietly as she could she opened the door and peeked in. Both Raye and Chad seemed to be asleep, 'Oh well' thought Serena to herself and started to close the door. 'AAhh... Ahhhh.... AhhhhCCHHOOOOOOOOO!' Serena sneezed loudly before she could try to muffle her noise. She looked in to see if Raye or Chad had heard her, just before shutting the door completely someone yanked the door open.
"Good morning Raye!" said Serena with mcdonald eyes. ^_^
"Serena, do you know what time it is?" asked Raye wiping the sleep from her left eye.
Serena looked down at her wrist, "Uhh nope, I haven't put my watch on yet."
"It's 5 in the morning! You went to bed 3 hours ago... why in HELL are you up?!"
Serena gave Raye a blank stare, "I couldn't sleep, silly."
*DROP* Raye sighed and put her purple robe over her silk pajamas.
Raye plopped down on the couch while Serena stood over her still smiling. "WHY are you smiling?!" asked Raye ready for another ditzy answer. Serena moved Raye's feet and sat down on the couch. She looked at Raye who started to shoot her an evil look. "Well," began Serena,"I had the most wonderful dream. I dreamt that Darien and I had the hugest wedding, everyone was there, then we became King and Queen and then Rini was born!"
Raye rolled her eyes, "Yeah... and?"
"Well, when I woke up I realized that it's actually going to happen. I saw Darien next to me and it finally hit that I'm never going to be alone again."
Raye tried to smile at her best friend who was still smiling hugely. ^_^ (Serena) *_* (raye)
"Well, that's nice and all Serena.... but for pete's sake.. IT'S TOO FREAKING EARLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
*Drop*-(serena) Serena looked at Raye and then smiled. She stood up and went over to the porch. The sun hadn't risen quite yet and the moon was still visible over head. Serena gazed up at the moon then sighed, she knew what she needed to do....
She walked over to Raye, still smiling, and said, "Raye, I've had a wonderful time and all, but it's time Darien and I left you and Chad and let you guys finish up this trip together."
Raye widened her eyes not quite sure what to think, "What do you mean?"
"Well, I know Darien and I have taken away you and Chad's time together, and after all it is your week together."
"Are you leaving?"
"Not this moment, as soon as Darien wakes up I'm going to tell him its time to leave."
"Serena, you don't need to leave, it's only one more day. Please stay," begged Raye.
"I can't, I'm glad I came and I've gotten to spend this long with you and Chad, but really, Darien and I should leave."
Raye nodded then looked at Serena,"Geez, you sure are smiling alot today." Raye smiled.
"I know, I just can't help it! Oh my gosh, I completely forgot!"
"Forgot what?" asked Raye but it was too late Serena had already ran upstairs.
'That meatball head, who does she think she is running off like that and leaving me?!' mumbled Raye to herself. 'She'll never change, always ditzy, extremely lazy, a complete pig about Food, a major klutz....'
"Here," said Serena smiling as she handed Raye a box wrapped in purple paper.
"What's this?"
"Just something I found for you," said Serena.
Raye ripped the paper and opened the box. Inside was a heart charm on a sterling silver necklace. Someting was engraved on the heart and Raye looked closely to see what it read.
'Follow your heart and love will conquer all'
Serena smiled, "It has always worked for me and I believe it will always work for you."
Raye hugged Serena, "Thanks, it really means alot to me!"
"That's one thing I've learned from you, you taught me that love will conquer all. If it weren't for you being there with me through all the tough times with Darien I don't know if he and I would even be together now!"
"Serena, you'll never change but I'm glad," said Raye smiling.
The girls were giggling and looking at the necklace when Darien walked downstairs. He looked half asleep and Serena realized she must have woken him up when she ran in the room searching for the necklace. Darien squinted his eyes trying to adjust them to the bright light.
"What's going on? It's 6 am and you girls are wide awake? It's too early and I can't believe you're up this early when you came to bed at 2," said Darien.
Serena walked over to him and kissed his cheek. "Sorry about waking you up, I couldn't sleep because I'm so happy!"
Raye shook her head, "Don't ask."
Darien smiled, "Well, Serena, what do you have planned for today?"
Serena looked over at Raye, "Well... I think we should head back home."
"Are you not feeling well?" asked Darien concerned.
"No, nothing like that, I just think we've bothered Raye and Chad long enough and it's only one day early. I'm sure they would enjoy us gone." Serena winked over at Raye who then blushed at Serena's thought.
"Ahhh.. I see, well we can leave around lunch then." Darien yawned, "First, I'd like to go back to bed and get more sleep. You coming Serena?"
"No, I can't sleep so I might as well stay up. I may be up there after while to change or something but I'll try not to wake you."
Darien grinned, "That's ok if you do though....."
Raye turned her head away, she was flush from listening to their talk.....
Serena kissed Darien before he headed back upstairs to sleep.
Serena looked at Raye who was still red, "Raye, you can go back to bed if you want." Raye agreed, she was beginning to feel tired again. "Alright Serena, I guess I'll see you after while." And with that Serena was alone in the living room, she sat down on the couch trying to figure out she could do for a few hours to pass the time. She knew what she would do, she would go collect seashells. The best ones were always early in the morning.
/*\ TIME PASS/*\
'Whew, that was fun' said Serena to herself as she poured the shells from her pail onto the kitchen table. She had collected a lot, some big, some small, some spiral ones, a few hermit crab shells, and even a couple shark's tooth! Serena giggled with delight!
Carefully she washed them off in the sink, making sure not to let a single one go down the drain. She was proud of her accomplishment; first, she woke up extra early, two she found alot of seashells and didn't lose a single one! ^_^ *heehee*
It was close to 8:30 and Serena's stomach was growling severely. Two cups of coffee hadn't helped the matter at all, she decided she was going to fix a nice breakfast. Pancakes, toast, bacon, and scrambled eggs with extra cheese were made perfectly. 'WOW!' thought Serena, 'This is the third thing I've done right today, I'm on a roll! Go me...Go me!' ^_^
She placed three other plates on the table and went upstairs to see if the smell had woken Darien up yet. Nope, he laid there under the covers and snoring slightly. Serena smiled and headed back downstairs. Next she peeped into Raye's room, both were asleep. 'Well, I guess they get breakfast in bed today.' She finished her breakfast then put the plates on a tray and carried them to Raye and Chad's room. Serena knocked on the door and went in. Raye sat up in bed surprised to see her friend again in her room.
"Here you are. I made breakfast for everyone!" Serena said smiling.
"Thanks," said Chad as he hugged Serena.
"Yeah Meatball head, Thanks."
"No prob," said Serena leaving the room.
Next she went upstairs to take Darien's breakfast.
"Hey sleepy head," said Serena as she leaned down and kissed Darien's forehead.
"You cooked breakfast?"
"Uh-huh."
"That's great sweetie!" said Darien smiling. 'But I wonder what it tastes like" said Darien in his mind.
"I know what you're thinking, it taste just fine thank you."
Darien laughed, "Well, I'm sure it is."
Serena watched Darien eat all of his food and was quite pleased when he told her how great it was and that he was proud of her excellent work. Today was a perfect day for Serena so far, she hoped the rest of the day would be the same. Darien smiled and looked at Serena who was beaming with joy.
"Well, princess, when do you want to go home?" asked Darien.
"Anytime soon is ok with me."
"Alrighty, well take this stuff downstairs and I'll start packing up our stuff."
"Ok, and I'll go tell Raye and Chad we'll be leaving as soon as everything is packed and ready to go."
"Alright," said Darien as he kissed Serena
Serena went downstairs and put the dirty dishes in the sink and headed to Raye and Chad's room. She told them that they would leave as soon as Darien finished packing things and when everything was cleaned up.
Chad spoke up, "It's too early for you guys to leave."
"That's what I told her," said Raye.
"Well, I appreciate everything you guys have done for Darien and I, the most we could do is let you guys enjoy the last day and night alone without any disturbances. Here, let me take the plates and I'll clean up everything," said Serena before going to the kitchen to clean.
It didn't take her long to make the kitchen spotless, Serena was careful when she cooked to not mess up many dishes or pans because she knew shw would have to wash them. She smiled at the good job she had done. The kitchen sparkled, Serena took one last look before taking off her rubber gloves and heading back upstairs to help Darien.
He was almost through when Serena came in the room. Serena double checked everything to make sure they hadn't forgotten to pack anything. She browsed through her suitcase and mentally checked to be sure everything was there. Darien carried the luggage downstairs and went back up to see what was taking Serena so long. She was out on the balcony looking at the ocean.
The sun was shining bright and the ocean was a beautiful shade of blue. Not a cloud in the sky, Serena looked back down at the ocean. She saw a pod of Dolphins jumping in and out of the water doing tricks. She giggled with delight, she hadn't seen a dolphin since she was little.
Darien snuck up behind her and kissed her neck sending chills over Serena's body. "Are you ready to go, princess?" asked Darien before kissing her neck once more. Serena smiled, "Yeah, I'm ready." Darien turned around to go downstairs when Serena hopped on his back begging for a piggy ride down. He sighed knowing she would pout unless he did so.
Raye and Chad were in the living room by then. It was time to say goodbye for now, Serena hopped off of Darien and clung to his arm. She looked at Raye who was shaking her head.
"Same ol' Serena."
"I know," said Serena smiling.
"Well, we better be leaving if you want to beat traffic," said Darien.
"Thanks for coming Darien," said Chad.
"No problem," replied Darien offering a handshake to Chad.
"It was fun, Raye."
"It sure was, Meatball head."
The girls giggled, "Now, you two try to behave while Darien and I are gone."
Raye and Chad turned a shade of red while Darien gave Serena a blank stare. *Drop*-(everyone except Serena) *_*
"What?!" asked Serena when everyone started laughing.
"Nothing," replied Darien.
"Well, you be careful going home. We'll see you tomorrow evening sometime," said Raye.
"And Darien, ...." Chad seemed to send Darien a telepathic message. Darien looked down at Serena and smiled.
"Alright, Chad, you too!"
Raye and Serena looked at each other confused. "MEN!" they both exclaimed.
The four friends said goodbye and Serena and Darien headed for home. The ride home was rather quiet, Serena had fallen asleep exhausted from working that morning. Darien smiled at his beautiful financee, and continued toward home. They arrived a little after 3 pm and the first thing Serena did was inform her parents of her engagement.
Dinner was full of happiness as Serena's family celebrated the good news of their daughter. After dinner Serena and Darien went for a walk in the park. He held onto her close with his arm wrapped tightly around her waist.
"I wonder what Raye and Chad are up to?" asked Serena.
"Who knows... but I could guess..." Darien said grinning.
Serena blushed, "Well, I had a great time, how about you?"
"I agree, but the best thing was when you said 'yes Darien, I'll marry you'. I was so happy!"
"And the best thing for me was when you finally asked me!"
Darien leaned down and kissed Serena tenderly, "Well, are you ready to head back home?"
"Not yet, it's TOO early, I wanna watch the sunset together."
"Alright," said Darien.
So, Serena and Darien sat on the park bench overlooking Crystal Lake and watched the sunset together. The moon found its way into the night sky, it was full and shining with all its might over the world. Darien stood up pulling Serena with him. "Serena, I love you." "I love you too Darien." They kissed under the moonlight. "Darien, this may be kinda silly to ask, but I was wondering..." "What is it, Princess?" "Well, I was wondering, after we're married can we honeymoon at a beach?" "Sure thing, just meet me by the seashore!" Serena giggled and hugged Darien tightly.
The END!
