BLANKETY BLANK
A very funny (and cheap) version of Match Game
Terry Wogan (1979-1983)

  • 1982(?) – Richard vs. Eve and Melville vs. Rosita. Panellists: David Hamilton, June Whitfield, Derek Nimmo, Wendy Richard, Kenny Everett, Sally Jayne. Cuddly Ken is really in the mood to go crazy, even going as far as managing to bend Terry’s microphone! [RPT/CD3-12] HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! (NTSC)

Les Dawson (1983-1991)

  • 1986 – Hi-De-Hi Special. Ken vs. June and Geoff vs. Rosemary. Tonight’s panellists are all from the Hi-De-Hi team: Jeffrey Holland, Ruth Madoc, David Griffin, Linda Regan, Paul Shane, Su Pollard. [OB/TP1-3]
  • 1989 – Alex vs. Mark and Sue vs. Pete. Panellists: Henry Kelly, Bertice Reading, Bill Buckley, Kathy Tayler, Tom O’Connor, Jill Goolden [CHA/CP2-3] (Slight audio hiss)

BLOCKBUSTERS (Bob Holness)

  • 1992 – Starts with Tim vs. Yvette & Catherine. Tim does very well today, scoring two Gold Runs in a row. (Ends with the audience “hand jive”) [CHA/TP2-1]

CATCHPHRASE (Roy Walker)

  • 1994 – The infamous “Snake Charmer” episode! Marita vs. Sean. [CHA/TP1-4] HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

DEAL OR NO DEAL (Noel Edmonds)

  • 17/11/05 – After a very shaky game, Jayne manages to score herself £1,000, the lowest deal ever made so far. [OC/TP4-1]
  • 18/11/05 – Jennifer’s luck is with her tonight, taking out a massive £120,000 deal, but did she make the right choice? [OC/TP4-2] HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
  • 19/11/05 – Elaine B. takes out a good deal of £3,500. [OC/TP4-3]
  • 21/11/05 – After another rather shaky game, Leigh takes out a deal of £3,600. [OC/TP4-4]
  • 22/11/05 – Len takes out a good deal of £9,400. [OC/TP4-5]

FAMILY FORTUNES

Max Bygraves (1980s):

  • 1983 – Christmas special. Agony Aunts vs. Good Morning Britain. [CHA/CP7-4] (Slight audio hiss and frequent audio gargling)

Les Dennis

  • 1989 – Christmas special. The “Hardup” Family vs. the “Twankey” Family. Everyone in the studio is in costume for this occasion – not only Les, but the celebrities (and even the audience!). [OB/TP1-2]

FAMILY MIS-FORTUNES (Les Dennis) [OC/CD4-2] (OK quality. Slight audio hiss. NTSC)

Les Dennis presents a clipfest of some of the worst answers ever given on Family Fortunes.

MASTERMIND (John Humphrys)

  • 2005 – Doctor Who Special. All special subject questions on this show are centred on the popular British science-fiction drama Doctor Who. [OB/TP2-2]

BRUCE’S PRICE IS RIGHT (Bruce Forsyth)

Popular British version of the American game

  • 1995 – Premiere episode. Games: Danger Price, Pathfinder, Switcheroo. [CHA/TP2-3]

SALE OF THE CENTURY (Nicholas Parsons)

And now from Norwich… it’s the Quiz of the Week! Britain’s long-running version of the popular game.

  • 1973 – Mary vs. Colin vs. Elizabeth [SM/BM2-12] (Fair picture)
  • 1982 – Jay vs. John vs. Mary [CHA/CP2-4] (Slight audio hiss)
  • 1982 – David vs. Yvonne vs. Terence. David has an interesting sense of humour (and a dirty secret…). [OC/TP2-4]

WHEEL OF FORTUNE (Nicky Campbell)

  • Christmas Special from 1988, featuring the following celebrities: Brian Reagan (from Brookside) vs. Sue Jenkins (from Coronation Street) vs. Jon Iles (from The Bill). [OB/TP1-1]

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE (Chris Tarrant)
The first version of a brand new revolution of game shows

  • 2000 – Judith Keppell becomes the show’s first £1 million winner! [OC/TP3-1] HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! (Widescreen recording)
  • 2004 – Double episode where Pat Gibson adds his name to the list of successful £1m winners, but not before Chris Payne takes home a mere £125,000, while Bill Copland leaves with hardly a penny. [OC/CP12-1-2] HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? (Clive Anderson)

The improvisational show which makes Neighbours looks over-rehearsed

  • 26/8/1994 – with Greg Proops, Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, Tony Slattery [RPT/BM2-13]
