They bury nothing. They store nothing. Then why do we save our coins in a 'piggy' bank? because someone made a mistake. During the Middle Ages, metal was expensive and seldom used for household wares. Instead, dishes and pots were made of an economical clay called pygg. Whenever housewives could save an extra coin, they dropped it into one of their clay jars. They called this their pygg bank or their piggy bank. Over the next two hundred to three hundred years, people forgot that "Pygg" referred to the earthenware material. In the 19th century, when English potters received requests for piggy banks, they produced banks shaped like a pig. Thus the name "Piggy Bank" been adapted. 9. J.J. Thomson was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1906 having proved that electrons are particles, 31 years later, his son, G.P.Thomson, was awarded the Nobel Prize for proving that electrons are waves. They were both right. 10. There is an odd coincidence in regard to Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincolm, and presidential assassinations. The night his father was shot, Robert was invited to accompany his parents to the theater, but declined. When President Garfield was shot in Washinton D.C. train station in 1881, Robert was present there at Garfield's invitation. When President William McKinley was shot at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York in 1901, Robert was present there as well. However, he was not an actual eyewitness to any of these assassinations. After McKinley's death, Robert Lincoln let it be known that he wanted no further invitations from any US president, as three of them had invited him to be present at their assassinations! 11. The word's chocolate and tomato are derived from the language spoken by the Aztecs over five centuries ago. 12.
