Education - IB

  The IBO is a recognized leader in the field of international education.  Founded in 1968, currently work with over 1,875 schools in 124 countries to develop and offer three challenging programmes to over 4,80,000 students aged from 3 to 19 years.

" The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.  To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes to international education and rigorous assessment.  These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right." This is the IBO mission statement.

   As an organisation , The IBo is governed by an elected council that is representative of the main regions and stakeholder groups who make up the organization.  It is managed by a director general and a team of more than 360 employees who work in their headquarters in Geneva and offices worldwide.

   The IBO does not own or manage any schools.  Instead, we work with schools around the world (both state and privately funded) that share our commitment to international education.

   The Programmes of IBO are, from Kindergarten to pre-unversity and can be offered individually or as a continuum.  Each programme includes a curriculum and pedagogy, student assessment, professional development for teachers and school authorization and evaluation.  All three programmes encourage members of the IB learning community to be Inquirers, Thinkers, Principles, Risk-takers, Caring, Knowledgeable, Communicators, Open-minded, Balanced and Reflective.

  The Primary Years Programme (PYP) : for pupils aged 3 to 12, the PYP focuses on the development of the whole child in the classroom and in the world outside.

  The Middle Years Programme (MYP) : For pupils aged 11 to 16, the MYP provides a framework of academic challenge and life skills which embraces and transcends traditionals chool subjects.

  The Diploma Programme : For students aged 16 to 19, the Diploma Programme is a demanding two-year curriculum leading to final examinations and a qualification that is welcomed by leading universities around the world.
