Rats

Rats are present whereever man has lived it seems, and the GTA is no exception. They look a whole lot like mice only bigger. Often we are afraid of them for fears that they carry disease or will attack us, the expression "cornered rat!" comes to mind. Mostly the reality is that they are pretty much nocturnal, unless there is a dark place that they can roam around in during the day. They are in every major city and are AFRAID OF MAN. We are so much bigger that they avoid us. They avoid pretty much all large animals too, such as cats, dogs, raccoons, and so on. If they are a problem for you then be careful. They will bite if cornered for sure. They also tend like mice to leave their droppings everywhere, including in their food sources (which might be your bag of rice too!). Here's one I caught with a raccoon trap.
