Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon

This was my first, but not my last marathon. I did this race with Team in Training as a fund raising event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Arlington Heights Days - Stampede 10K

This was my first 10K run. It was a a good time. I ran this race with my buddy Marathon Joe. I plan on doing a lot more of these types of races.

Shoot the Bull - 3 on 3 basketball tournament. I was a court monitor for the games - well I was supposed to be anyway. It turned out I was assigned to a court that didn't exist. The volunteer effort was for the Special Olympics.

This was my first triathlon that turned into a duathlon. LZ cancelled the swim portion due to lightning in the area. We biked in the rain, and the weather broke for the run. It was a good race, although a bit disorganized. Special thanks to Bono Family Winery for coming out in a show of support.

This was a lot of fun. Chilly, but fun. It was a crisp beautiful morning in Lincoln Park for this well organized racing event. We ran a five mile loop around the lake/pond (which was frozen!). There was about 4 to 5 thousand participants in this race. I even saw a few Team in Training runners out there. My buddy Brian ran by me around mile 3 1/2. Thanks. I think the event raised over 8 thousand canned goods.

The race was blast. The one thing I learned from the first race of the year is - I need to start training!! Don't worry, I will still see you at the finish line. Thanks to all the people that came out to the race. This race was a benefit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. And, oh yeah, I was wearing my green, so no pinching!

I did two days of volunteer work in the North Texas Team in Training office. I was a lot of fun. I helped put together packets for the winter season kick-off meeting. We did over 1200 packets. I am still recovering from the paper cuts!!

As part of my marathon stuff this year, I decided to donate blood platelets. It is easy to do and took only 2 hours. Just enough time for me to watch a movie. Click on the "PICS" to see what it was like, and you can find out how you can give if you click on the Logo.

I went back for my second helping of Vertel's Turkey Trot. It was not nearly as chilly as last year. The 24th annual race went off well, although I think I need to pick up my pace a bit. Maybe I overheated from wearing too many warm clothes. It was a blast and I highly recommend this race for anyone looking for a good time.
