Well, nothing quite like starting out the new year with a race! I did this one along the trinity river in Fort Worth, Texas. It is a really nice place to run...uh hum...really flat! For those of us that haven't been running, it is the perfect place to start back up. Suprisingly, I did well in the race; I was able to run the entire distance without stopping. There was a moderate turnout (as is typical in these Fort Worth races I am finding), but it was a lot of fun. Looking forward to my next race (1 down and 11 to go). |

Groundhog day! This race had a lot of people and a lot of hills! D'oh. I didn't even know these running trails existed in Grapevine, so this was a good find. Very cold that morning, but beautiful day for running! Feeling better in the second race of the year and maintaining about the same speed. I need to start training!.....! |

The H.A.N.K (Helping another next of Kin) was formed by his widow Teresa and five of Hank's closest friends in memory of Fort Worth Police Officer Henry |

"Hank" Nava, Jr. who died in the line of duty on December 1st, 2005. I figured this would be a great opportunity for me to run WITH the law rather than FROM the law....LOL; only kidding, sheez. It is a great cause in support of those that protect our safety every day! Click logo for their website. |

This race started, went through and around the Fort Worth Stockyards which was pretty nice. Who doesn't love the smell of manure on a Saturday morning?! It was a chilly damp morning, but the race was a blast albeit muddy in places. My poor dear sister and her fiance Chris made the mistake of wearing their new kicks to the race. Oh well, running shoes that are "too clean" are suspect in anyone's book so I am glad they came and glad their shoes got dirty (now, they are a bit more respectable)! The course was great and very dynamic; running on bricked streets, paved road, running paths, and even off in the grassy trails (which I thought was the best part). Admittedly, I am still in pathetic shape but once again was able to complete the race in not too bad a time (and without coughing up a lung). That extra distance of a 4 mile race compared to a 5k seemed like an eternity.... :-) There was a great turnout, so that makes for more fun - the more the merrier. Hats off to the organizers of the race. It was very well done and I hope to run again next year. See you at the next race! |

Alrighty then! Dogs, dogs, dogs, and more dogs.....I squeezed in April's race by doing the Hound Dog Hustle which was a benefit for the Dog Rescue Leagues in the Metroplex. It was a beautiful Saturday morning for a race! The weather was perfect. It was a pretty large turnout too. There were lots of people and lots of dogs. Suprisingly, there weren't too many grass cakes hitching a ride on your shoes (I think that was |

just mud, yes it is definetly mud.....i think.....). Once again my sister and her husband dragged themselves out of bed and joined me for the race. It was a great course running around Oak Grove Park in Grapevine TX. The course was a mixture of road and trails (paved). To me, it seemed like I was constantly running down hill but I am sure there must have been some uphill climbs. We did a 5K loop around the area and ended up finishing at the lake front which was great (I wanted to jump in and probably would have if it was hotter). All in all, it was a very nice event. Everyone with pets were great and it was a lot of fun seeing them. See you at the next race! |

My first time running at River Legacy Parks in Arlington. Very nice! I like the winding trails. It was a good turnout for such a HOT morning. Glad |
