| DREAMS
03.23.06 It happened then that someone did this and that, and who can remember what was really going on? If she hadn’t closed her eyes for those two weeks Things would be as they were. She can’t decide the better cost of living: then or now Or maybe tomorrow, when Hope Will invite her into the house of Fantasy I want you to take those thoughts and put them right out of your mind Perhaps next time You dream to Rachmaninov’s languid chords Or John Hartford’s tingling banjo Put them right out of your mind For business and private matters There is nothing wrong with you Everyone has their dreams, Those that shouldn’t come true, But yours almost did. It defies all reason That your Abstract became Concrete. Reality whispers: I’m a major let-down like this And when you sink beneath the folds I’m lost If it was all just a wonderful, iridescent dream, Then I close my eyes to dream again. Have a good night (and sweet dreams) as well Right out of your mind Recently, ? I’ve taken up residence in your disposal It’s the best place to watch you when you think no one’s around. I’ll notice you washing the dishes and then drown in the rejected food poured down the drain. |
