I'chek
I'CHEK
Name- I'chek, formerly Icanchek
Age- 19
Gender- Male
Birth Place- High Reaches Hold
Mother- Mianca, Jman Weaver, 40
Father- Kehan, Holder, 31
Siblings- None.
Other relations- Various cousins and the like at High Reaches Hold
Weyrmate/Lover- N/A
Hair- Sandy blond, long and ponytailed (an affectation from Holder ways he's yet to be willing to cut off).
Eyes- Grey-blue, direct.
Height- A little taller than average, but not by a great deal.
Build- Toughened up from weyrling training, with a fair bit of upper-body muscle, but he's genetically inclined to slenderness and isn't even close to as bulky as many riders become.
Complexion- Pale; it's that High Reaches lack of sun.
Skills- Both I'chek and Hrishalth are hardworking and determined, willing to put in whatever hours it takes to get a job done. Neither is well-trained in anything specific aside from basic weyrling training, and were never considered motivated enough to be put into more extensive classes during their time. Still, the young bronze is a fierce and rapid flier, although too prone to tire himself out simply to stay ahead of the pack (in anything), and I'chek is rarely perceptive enough or self-moderated enough to hold him back. I'chek is well-versed in Harper lessons, familiar with (and fluent with) reading, writing, and basic math, as well as a bit more complicated mathematical study that might one day have landed him a place in the Smithcraft's engineering apprenticeship, were it not for his Search. Now, of course, he considers such skills basically useless and doesn't mention them.
Strengths- Sprint-flying, predictive (good with thread charts), basic physics (geometry particularly, the most physically applicable math). Common sense.
Weaknesses- Grudge-holding, unwillingness to step forward to take on extra duties if he feels the effort won't be appreciated, no particular Weyr loyalty, Holdbred attitudes and upbringing, still very fuzzy on how exactly Weyrs work.
History- Child of an often-busy Weaver mother and an adoptive father a great deal younger than she who found his son someone more to be friends with than raised, Icanchek was always a little bit on the outside. His real father was significantly older than Mianca, and died shortly after Ican's birth; she remarried six turns later, scandalizing a number of people by choosing a man much younger than she - but neither of them paid attention to the ruckus, and eventually it died down. In any case, the boy grew up among his peers at the Hold, Holdbred to a fault and a little bit reclusive, preferring his own company and a very few friends' to the general run of boys about the place. He developed a highly belligerant streak when he proved adept at his Harper classes and became something of a teacher's pet, blacking a few eyes and getting his own blacked in turn before things settled out again, leaving him farther apart than before. He turned slowly bookish, though not of the indoorsy type; he was more apt to read interesting scrolls on how things were done or made, and then to go out and try them, be it rock-climbing or carpentry. His early efforts, of course, were never good, and his belligerance turned into sharp defensiveness whenever the topic of what he'd been doing all day came up with anyone, including his mother. His Search to the Weyr was somewhat dramatic. High Reaches had come up short on candidates abruptly after a bout of illness put several of their Weyrborn children out of the running. With eggs showing signs of imminent hatching, riders swept into the Hold and picked up just about every youngster of Impressionable age and dumped them onto the Sands with only cursory explanations and instructions. Ican's blazing impression to Hrishalth was the single glowing moment in what was to be a less than enjoyable experience. As Holdborn, he was innately other, someone who didn't fit in with the Weyrborn-- and only one or two of the other Holders impressed with him, leaving him to be a 'mistaken' bronze impression among a bunch of Weyrborn weyrlings, and a lot of candidates angry that they'd missed a chance for illness' sake. Some of them took it out on him in subtle ways that for Hrishalth's sake he ignored. It didn't help that for a bronze, Hrishalth had much in common with browns - his pale, sandy coloration was easily mistaken for brown in indirect light, only brought to its glistening sheen and caught with green highlights when exposed to the sun. Average size for a bronze still put him within reachable range for browns, and that became part of the jesting, too; he was "too good" to be a brownrider among brownriders, and "not good enough" among the bronze weyrlings. Outcast again-- but this time not alone. With Hrishalth's help he made it through weyrling training, graduating with all his Holdbred mores intact, and was soon placed in a watchrider position - not quite good enough yet for a 'real wing.'

<<<Dragonriders Only>>>
Dragon's name- Hrishalth
Dragon's age- 2.5 turns
Color and Size Description- An average-sized bronze whose metallic shimmer is only visible in good light. Pale and sandy in hue, though with the telltale green shadows in soft streaks along his hide, he's easy to mistake for a brown when not in sunlight. In full light, though, he has a rich and attractive shine.
Age Impressed- 16
Personality- Young and fiery, Hrishalth very much has a mind of his own, and is less inclined to withdrawal and quiet than his rider. When I'chek would sit and stew, Hrishalth leaps to seize the world for himself and his beloved. He, like his rider, tends to simmer over old insults, and never forgets those that I'chek holds as well; they share them between them. Although both know it's not a very healthy way to deal with things, it's born into their natures. Still, when with those he likes or at least has no quarrel with, Hrishalth is an outright affectionate, if occasionally over-regal dragon, too keen on his own dignity to be very playful, but finding it no threat to his perceived worth (learned from the other High Reaches bronzes even though their riders didn't consider him quite 'worthy') to be kindly-natured and approachable.
