New, from Richard Hatch, Captain Apollo from the classic Battlestar Galactica, has a new adventure sci-fi series in the works. Began two years ago, this project is owned, written, directed, and co-produced by Mr. Hatch and Su-Shann Productions. The newest science fiction space oddyssey from Hatch is a drama of survival and a struggle to save humanity. It is called The Great War of Magellan. So, why Magellan you might ask yourself? When Richard was working on his vision for the classic sci-fi show Battlestar Galactica a few years back, he met a scientist named Kevin Grazier. Dr. Grazier helped work on the Galactica project as a science advisor. One evening, after seeing a presentation given by Dr. Grazier at the Los Angles Griffith Observatory, Richard appoached him remembering the fabulous images Grazier showed him for use as CGI backgrounds for the Galactica movie, The Second Coming. Hatch asked Dr. Grazier if he knew of a galaxy far away in which he could use as the setting to this new film he was working on. Kevin answered that he wanted to show him something very close to our own Milky Way that would do nicely. Dr. Grazier writes, " Straddling the constellation Mensa (The Table) and Dorado (The Goldfish, or Swordfish) in the sky of Earth's southern hemisphere are two fuzzy cloud-like objects. During his famous voyage around the world, explorer Ferdinand Magellan and his crew had plenty of time to survey the Southern sky. There were the first Europeans to view these two galaxies-- visible only from the Southern Hemisphere - which are now called the Large and Small Magellianic Clouds, or simply the clouds of Magellan." Since Galactica had hit a snag up in the Ivory Towers, Hatch decided he'd prove to the "powers that be" that an actor could indeed make a good action-packed sci-fi adventure film. So, he began on "Magellen. " Back to the story at hand.....
