You've heard the rumors, you've read the headlines.... now is it really true? Is Battlestar Galactica being reivived? My answer to you all is, " yes it is." But how it is revived remains to be seen. When asked about the vision that Bryan Singer or Tom DeSanto has for Galactica, they are very vague. The want to honor the original series, but how? Long- time fans are worried that perhaps this show may see a different light. Perhaps it will be a CGI extravaganza and not the series that we have all grown to know and love so well. The other answer, the one that fans hope for is that these savy young producers will bring back the show with the original characters and themes. We are hoping that they set the plot about twenty years after the original series ended. This would put starfighter pilots like Lt. Starbuck, Boomer, and Bojay in a possition that may be a total reverse from their old ones. Instead of being the daredevil viper jockies out there fighting the Cylons with all they could dish out, they will now be the mentors for the newer, bold viper pilots who have come up and learned to fly during these twenty years. There is always room for young men in the cockpit of a viper! And what about the man who is the champion for Galactica for these last few years... the man who produced a breath-taking trailer for the fans hoping to get the series revived? I mean, of course, Richard "Captain Apollo Hatch!" Galactica would not be the same without Captain, or maybe now Commander Apollo. But, how can we get these new gentlemen who are going to write the scripts and get the actors together that we want the same characters that we fell in love with and learned to love and honor for years? We let them know by writing, writing, writing. Tom DeSanto said in one interview that Galactica was a sleeping giant. Well, one cannot wake a sleeping giant without hearing a roar. Like every fan out there practica what Richard Hatch calls "Synergy." Gather collectively and let these people know what you'd like to see on television in 2002. Tell them your vision for Galactica before it's too late. |
