Over the course of time we have developed certain instincts and behavioral patterns that stem directly from our self created environments. The society that we have built has become a foundation for the development of ego. This 'dog eat dog' world promotes competition and an anything goes attitude in the pursuit of our goals, which more often than not are also provided by the same society. Acquisitions of power and wealth, money etc. all make us focus more on the whims and desires of our ego minds. We are bombarded on all sides by varieties of ways to indulge our egos and many ways in which the standards of society create unreasonable goals for us to strive for in our pursuit of this ego gratification. So to compete in this constant struggle for self indulgement, the ego has become an overspecialized facet of our awareness. The ego is focused on its sense of self and its position in life, what it can achieve, what it can pleasure itself with, what it can do to make itself the center of attention. The ego mind is also associated with our personalities, which can become overidden to an extent and become just a tool for the ego to acquire its possessions. In the wake of this onslaught the subtler natures of psyche are hidden in the shadow of the dominant ego. Intuition for example, this is our natural instinct as human beings. Intuition is our connection with life and the fluid dynamics it creates. Intuition is our mental instinct which has become like an unused muscle. It has atrophied and now the use of this muscle takes conditioning and time and great effort. We have replaced our natural instinct with our own overdeveloped 'instinct', fostered by our man made society. |

The society we have built has created a playground for self indulgement and an arena in which we can entertain our wanton pursuit of this ego glorification. As much as we have advanced, we still have not abandoned the roles we defined for ourselves when we still lived in caves. When wo-man became conscious it also became conscious of itself. Now the interplay between wo-man and its surroundings begins and more importantly the interaction between each other. Our personalities are like a combination of our ego minds and our base self. The ego mind is the part of the mind that is created through social interaction. It becomes aware of itself and its desires and motivations, but also of the surrounding egos' as well. So then, there becomes the pursuit of attaining goals and positions, and heirarchies are formed. |

People lost touch with the other faculties of mind when they became to possessed with the urges and selfish desires they experienced. Through this endless rat race there are countless distractions to sway the focus and all but block out the subtler shades of grey inbetween the black and white world of the ego . The thing that seperates us from the majority of the animal kingdom is our advanced sense of self and knowledge of the surroundings that we inhabit. The ego is a large part of that functioning, however it is only one portion of the total mind. Intuition is an oft overlooked component in this puzzle. It is barely noticeable underneath the constant noise and bombardment of the senses. As I have said, intuition is our natural instinct. It is that portion of the mind which connects to the all . It is like a magnet, attracting to the attention that which is pertinent to the individual at that time. Becoming aware of when this is taking place and noticing how it feels is how intuition developes. Become aware of the things in life that flow and connect with each other. Look at things that seem as coincidence and realize that everything is intimately connected to every other thing and that coincidence is often really the synchronicity of the world operating as one giant organism. |

As I said , intuition has atrophied. Through our neglect of this critical component of mind, it has rested unused for millenia. Now it is dormant and needs re-awakening. This process isn't going to be easy. We are combatting aeons of neglect . Compare the development of psychic awareness to intense muscular therapy. It will be a long process of very small steps, and will be frustrating and maybe even painful, if not physically, mentally, but know that through determination and strength of will and intent that you are focussing on this dormant energy and cultivating that essence, imbuing it with life once again and slowly re awakening this ancient connection with the ALL of life. We are again at the threshold of a major change for our race. We are developing the potentials of our consciousness and through this mode of self discovery we will awaken the long lost knowledge that is contained within us all and finally realize as a race, what being a human being really means. |
