Gus Pike
My Mom's favorite person on "Avonlea" is not a someone from Lucy Maud Montgomery's stories. He was brought on just for the tv show.
Gus came on the show in the 2nd year in the episode called "How Kissing Was Discovered". He has no family or home and decides to stay in Avonlea. His best friends are Felix King and Sara Stanley. He is also in love with Felicity King and they get married at the end of the show. My mom hasn't let me watch it yet, because she says I need to see all the shows first. I'm just glad that they get married, even if I think Felicity is mean to Gus sometimes.
Gus has a lot of adventures and gets to hunt for treasure. He gets put in jail alot and he also gets to live in the Lighthouse. He can play the fiddle. Sometmes he works at the White Sands Hotel. Sometimes he is a sailor or works in the cannery. He works hard.
He likes to go to school and learn. Felix thinks he is crazy. He was really funny in his second show on Avonlea called "Aunt Hettys Ordeal". He never went to school before and had to learn manners from Aunt Hetty. He would burp when he ate. He smoked a pipe and didn't know how to write his name. Aunt Hetty teaches him how to be a gentleman and how to write his name. He really likes Aunt Hetty alot.
The actor who plays Gus Pike is from Canada too, and he is Michael Mahonen. My mom calls him 'Mickey' and I call him 'Michael' or 'Gus'.
Michael is my mom's favorite actor and he has done a lot of other movies and tv shows besides "Avonlea". My mom has two sites about Michael Mahonen. One is about him and the other tells you when he is on TV. |
