The play
The book was dramatised for the stage by playwright and novelist Nigel Williams and was performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company at Atratford-upon-Avon in July 1995. For this musical production, the framework and the characters are Golding's own without additions or embellishments - Golding writes such beautiful dialogue anyway. My lyrics are the response of my emotiona state during and after the many times I buried myself in the reading of this very powerful book. If I have failed to render the spirit of the original, the fault is entirely my own and I humbly ask Golding's forgiveness. Makki Marseilles

The Songs
I tried to give the lyrics the kind of musical magic carpet which would help them fly off the page and enter the consciousness of the audience. Though Mediterranean by birth, I tried to give the music the kind of Anglo-Saxon and Gothic elements I believe the story demands. Whether I have succeeded or not is for the audience to decide.

The novel "Lord of the Flies", William Golding's first novel, is a modern classic. Beautifully written. it is both tragic and provocative.
