Environmental Policy

The Raines Administration sees it as a priority of the United States to lead the way in adhering to environmental standards which much of the western world has agreed on.  We will work stop polluting the air with dangerous greenhouse gasses and any other toxins.  A few steps the Raines administration will take to do this are.
     1.  We will support the Kyoto treaty, and rapidly lower the greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere, setting high standards for corporations to abide by when it comes to pollution.
     2.  We will get rid of the light truck exemption for SUVs in emission laws.  An SUV has become a vehicle of choice and America, and to produce them cheaper we have sacrificed our environment.  The light truck exemption is in place to help farmers.  It is not in place to sell vehicles no one really needs.  SUVs are fine so long as we hold them to the same standards as all other vehicles.
     3.  Fun research into renewable sources to ride ourselves of foreign oil dependency while also saving our natural environment.
     4.  Stop all oil drilling in the Alaskan wilderness
     5.  Work with International community on a commitment to the environment on a worldwide basis.
     6.  The United States will not trade with nations or corporations that do not meet the environmental standards the International Community establishes.  This also will force any company that wants the US as a market to meet with US standards, stopping incentives for companies to leave the country at the expense of American jobs.  This is key in my
economic plan
